Foxtrotx1
Any powder out there that is similar in price, cleaner, cooler and just as quiet (or close) with a can? I use clays for .45 and like it quite a bit. willing to pay a cent or two more a round for a better, smoother/cleaner shooting experience. I have a couple of bottles of HS6 I never used, but I'm not sure about that for 147 grain.
bowenbuilt
e3, N320, Sport Pistol, American Select, 231 will all do what you want, it just depends on which one you can find.
Youngeyes
231 is in stock right now here https://store.thirdgenerationshootingsupply.com/catalog/category/view/s/smokeless-powder/id/8693/?p=4 It's a great powder.
galt11
N320 is a great powder and very close to TG and even cleaner burning. Just much more expensive and harder to find. Adam
boatdoc173
bulleye works well. you will probably find titegroup before you find anything else . Hodgdon seems to be in stock at a few places. only 1 offered bullseye in the last few months same with N320.
zzt
of the powders b suggested the only one I would not use is 231. I much prefer e3. Sport Pistol would be next in line, but you have to use more and it generates a little more recoil. American Select has always been hard to find, even without the powder shortage. As far as I'm concerned, Sport Pistol is a clone of N320 so there is no reason to spend the extra for VV unless that is all you can find.

SteelCityShooter
Midway shows TiteGroup and HP-38 (identical to WW231) and WinClean 244 ( similar to WW231 with a copper fouling cleaner) in stock right now.
iflyskyhigh
I’m a big fan of Clean Shot or AA #2 if you can find it It’s replaced both TG and 231 for me. Edited August 6, 2021 by iflyskyhigh

Yup, #2/DO32-02 is good stuff, in my opinion much under appreciated from what I hear. I was once a TG/WST/BE/RD/231/320 person for fast powder and went to the for mentioned. Lightj75
I started using TG with summit city bullets 147gr RN but have recently switched to N320 which lived up to the hype it is a wonderful powder for 9 minor If you can find it. I load it under the summit city bullets 147gr FP now because I can load them longer than the RN in my CZ Sp01 and I have not been dissapointed. I have been wanting to get some sport pistol to try though because I've heard good things.
Darrell
Sport Pistol will be my TG replacement once I run out of TG. In my testing it has performs as good as TG and is cleaner. Vectan BA 9.5 is closer to N320 but there is no US distributor currently since Graf's gave up their distributorship. I received 36# of BR-5 from GIBrass recently and currently working up load for it. It is closer to Power Pistol than Unique in burn rate in my testing and has to be loaded to a higher power factor if you looking for accuracy. In my 124 gr JHP my normal 130-132 pf has to be loaded to 138-140 to be as accurate. Still leaves some yellow unburned powder residue though. But for those dedicated loyal Titegroup fans (of which I am as well) Midway has had Titegroup in stock for at least a week now. I like Titegroup for various applications, most notably inexpensive 115gr 9mm plinking loads ... but for your specificly spec'd application (can, cleaner, cooler, quiet) I am willing to spend extra on the N320. I load subsonic 147 Speer-V exclusively for my canned SIG loads (P226 and a couple of P320 variants through a couple of different cans) and you're not going to find a better propellant for those sort of applications than N320. And I've tried them all. This is my first post as a guest, I'll register immediately afterwards as Gallo Pazzesco. N320 is hard to beat. ETA: I just received email notification that Midsouth has Titegroup and 1680 in stock right now as well. Midway has N320 and somewhere else I saw recently has N320. I buy N320 by the keg and it is worth every penny. Edited August 8, 2021 by GalloPazzesco ETA explained above.
BigMoneyGrip
I switched from Titegroup to Sport Pistol. The Sport Pistol is cleaner and MUCH cooler. 100 rounds of Sport Pistol isn't nearly as hot as 50 rounds of Titegroup.
usmc1974
I like greendot. Shoots clean and very low recoil. Just a thought
Hammerman
Universal powder works pretty good. It's a little on the slow end of the burn rate, but I like it. It burns clean.

I've used as fast as Titegroup and Promo and as slow as Universal and Longshot. I've shot thousands of 147s over Universal and Promo, and really only prefer Promo because it's cheaper and a bit more versatile for making soft shooting loads. OnePivot
What do people like about TG? I've gotta be missing something. It's the only powder that gets brass hot enough to burn my fingers picking it up off the ground. Glock brass to the face with tg once or twice is enough to make me move on! It shot ok, but there's so many downsides. I've been enjoying 244 in 9mm. It's economical, meters great, shoots soft, and recoils pretty flat. Only major downside is it's bad in low pressure rounds, so no 38spl or 45acp (despite data being available).
