What do you do for a living?

Firearms Instructor for Dept of Homeland Security

FY42385

How can I get a job like this?

I've done some pretty scary stuff after being in two wars, and I've delt with some pretty scary people being in LE for 9 years, but this would be much more scary than all of that. Have you seen how most cops shoot? :surprise:

So my best (but not current) job was a bartender in a "gentlemens' club."

The managment made us sew all our pockets shut so we didn't have any place hid money :surprise:

The dancers were fun, single ladies just working their way through "college"

You and I need to talk. I bet we know a lot of the same people. Where did you work at? Sounds like either the Gold Club or The Chettah

Afer serving in the ARMY for 2 years, I worked for Glock, a indoor shooting range and then wprked for 2 "Gentelman"s Clubs" for about 10 years, sold Real Estate for about 4 years and went into Drywall (Project/Sales Manager) for over 4 years. I have been at my current job for 2 months now as a slinger, chip slinger that is. I am a Route Sales Rep for Frito Lay.

Jim,

prayers go out to you. 2 more years and you'll have a teenaged daughter. I dread the day my daughter is a teenager. Mainly because I know what goes through the minds of teen aged boys. 7 years old and she is areadly as stubborn as her mother. I agree though, She and her little brother are by far the most rewarding and important job I've ever had.

yes, I have and generally beat them in most of the local shoots, and I am not that that good, they just generally suck. I would really like to help out someone who depends on their sidearm to save their life in their daily job, god knows I dont, worst thing I have to deal with is some wannabe hacker.

I am a SSgt(E5) in the USAF. I live off of Ramen and lots of homemade chili. I rarely eat out, I buy all of my food at the commisary, and I don't buy any clothing.

I constantly wonder if I canceled cable how much ammo I could load instead....

I still like the quote a retired USAF friend had:

"I joined the Air Force because they send officers out to do the fighting." He was of course enlisted.

I live near the Permian Basin and grew up in the oil bidness. Man those jobs are hot right now. I know a oilfield service company paying $75/hour for welders fresh out of school. No experience at all. They only work them about 70 hours a week though. Do you wonder why Midland and Odessa, TX have the lowest unemployment in the country right now?

A police officer, now working a police K-9 before that working in an undercover role as the biggest redneck you could find. Bought a lot of dope and whores, got out of the whore business and went to dogs they smell better than whores and the dogs have all of there teeth. 40 yoa and still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. With this job I still feel like the hardest job for me is to raise my kids and be the dad they need:)

Well, after all my beefing and bitching about being unemployed, I guess I should mention that I finally landed a part-time secretarial gig with a law office... in addition to all the current cop-shop activities on the side. :)

I think its cute how fathers of girls always have some date out there in the future when they plan to retire. They are girls. You will never retire. Don't fool yourself that it is predestined for you to lay down the shovel and bask in the warm sunlight. Its not going to happen!

signed,

Bill, the father of two girls ages 25 and 28, neither of which are off the payroll and, with their mother's assistance, will never be off the payroll. The oldest daughter even commented that its not like they are taking money from me since they are simply accelerating access to their inheritance. :angry2:

If you ever come close to loosing your daughter, you will never begrudge her anything you have or can give her...your children are the most precious things God has blessed you with, and then maybe your new Limited or SS blaster just down the list from that....LOL

Insurance Consultant - been spending a lot of time as an expert witness on the California fires - a lot of insurance companies don't like me right now.

Before that:

President of a Medical Malpractice Company

Property Casualty Underwriting management jobs with national companies.

Work for myself now and know enough about big corporations to never want to work for one again - not that they would hire me!!
