  1. After reading this post, I got my postcard and called S&W customer service and after being on hold for almost an hour, I spoke with Paul, gave him my order number and he said that barrel is still on back order. I placed the order in July of 2013 so good luck and post a pic when you get your barrel.
  2. Nice looking pair. A friend has a CZ coming in and hope to try it...
  3. There are a couple of mindsets going on with training. A lot of cops want to go train and practice with their firearms but the range is open only occasionally. The other side sees officer involved shootings as high risk, low occurrence incidents and do not channel funding to more training (I know, pay now or pay a lot later). However, the cops I work with will run towards gun fire when someone needs help even if they are not a crack shot (yes, it's their job). Fortunately, my head LEO is supportive of the "contests" (practical matches) I have put on. He will allow the use of department ammunition for these events. As for cops passing "qualifications", it's easy when no one is pointing a gun or shooting back at you. What most people see are "accuracy tests" and not the practical/tactical part of training.
  4. I'm in for a couple of spring/bushing sets.
  5. Is a used STI gun out of the question? There have been some really good deals on used guns here.
  6. Not normal. I think there was a similar post as yours recently. Sounds like your trigger bow or something with your trigger is dragging on/against the mag.
  7. Yes, most of us dinosaurs have either tried that or use it regularly for iron sights. I also use a Meritt sighter (peep hole) aid that helps too. I've been using the stick on reader lenses over my right eye. It's similar to how some people have their vision set up for mono-vision (one eye for distance the other for reading). This was the cheapest set-up and it has worked for me but I don't shoot production enough to really get use to it. The stick on lens allows you to position it anywhere on my shooting glasses so I put it at the top of the lens area. It does throw off my depth perception as I now have only mono vision. The lowest power I could find was 1.50 and if there was a 1.00 I would use that. Next I'll be trying some lower powered contacts in my right eye, my eye doc said that would be okay.
  8. Are you talking about the red or blue tip that fits on the end of the primer magazine tube?
  9. You pretty much answered your own question, stay straight up.

    RTS 2

One of the guys at our club has changed over to this setup and he likes it. If I needed a blast shield because of barrel holes, I would go this route since the sideways mounts won't let you use a shield. Also, this setup clears the path for ejected brass. Maybe in the future, the RTS2 will be available with a larger dot. Nice but too expensive for me to switch over my guns to this.
  11. I use the standard Dawson posh-lock drilled and tapped and have attached the Dawson Lo Pro button in 4-40. My hands are medium sized and have to turn the gun in my hand to hit the mag button too. I had lost the mag button and was shooting matches without it until the new one arrived. Without the button, I was not consistent in hitting the mag release on mag changes (we have to shoot everything 10 here). I guess without the mag button, I had to really stretch to reach the release with my thumb.
  12. Sounds like you pretty much decided the route to go in your question. As said, get the G35 and use the G22 as back up. You would have to start the match with the G35 then if it goes down you can use the G22 (no advantage). If you start the match with a G22 then you probably won't be allowed to the use the G35 as a back up if the G22 goes down (there is an advantage).
  13. I too ordered a barrel and was told it was on backorder and they even sent me a postcard saying that. Guess I'm SOL for a new S&W barrel.....
  14. Go to your favorite tire center and ask for some stick on wheel weights then you can see if adding a 1/2 oz makes a difference, cheap and easy.
  15. On my older gun it started to have the same problem and found the empty brass was bouncing off the bottom of the scope mount. After messing around with the extractor I finally switched to a abrazos tuned ejector and it fixed it fo me. All my new guns now have sideways scope mounts, easiest fix and I like that it brings the scope closer to the bore.
  16. If you can afford to keep it, keep it. I have two open guns now and the first one is my practice and local match gun, while the newer one will be my major match gun. Both are set up almost identical (except for the hammers).
  17. I'm trying to get caught up and only midway through season 4 via Netflix.
  18. Dillon will take care of you. Can't do anything with the broken die anyway. Maybe you can borrow one from a friend in the meantime.
  19. Ballistic Tools (vendor here) sells a tool to check primer pockets for go or no go. It's suppose to check if you have taken out enough of the crimp to seat a primer but I think it can be used to somewhat check of the primer pocket is oversized.
  20. All of our guys and girls know what they carry, because it's on the test and on their qualification card. Some know how to use this tool very well and some should stay behind their desks, just saying. I too wish our officers would shoot more.
  21. How much weight did you shave off the slide with those cuts?
  22. Sounds like your load don't have enough "gas" to work the action to pick-up the next round or you are losing "gas" somewhere along the way (gas tube blocked; carrier key loose...). Chrono your loads and compare to factory ammo of the same bullet weight.
