  1. Those that know me, know this has been a long time coming. Hope this is a helpful little nugget I wrote up. This is just some stuff I like and what I use. Having used just about every part and part combo this is what works for me. I have reasons for each part. I get alot of questions and i hope this finds some well. As always YMMV. @PatriotDefense @johnbu 9mm GT Stroked slide Beveled mag well(transition between mag well helps smooth reloads) Tuned 9mm Extractor(typically factory extractor is 38. 9mm needs more tension for reliability) Polished and Lapped rails. Hammer face angled and polish(smoothes recoil and slide movement) Hammer strut hole opened and smoothed( eliminates spring bind and friction. Also a must for única hammer ( Slide faced and comp(if needed) retimed. Breach Face inner edge chamfer and polish (smooth feeding) Extractor Channel polish( crud gets built up here. This ensures free movement ) Fireing Pin channel polish.(reliable strikes) Slide bottom front Chamfer(reduce's drag on 2nd round and reliable feeding) Slide rear bottom Chamfer(smooths recoil as slide travels over hammer) FPB removal( not needed in open. Reduces FP drag) All before adding parts. My favorite parts list and combos V12 barrel EGD Brass grips(bring weight back into hands) DAA adjustable thumrest, hand checkered by me Henning Mag well Gen 1( design keeps magwell from walking forward) Over sized Safeties, hand checkerd by me( more dexterity) Henning short Trigger(medium spring) PD Light Guide Rod PD Fireing pin(heavy for reliability) Única DA/SA heavy hammer(used as SA only) #patriotdefense bolo disconnector( eliminates pre travel) EGW sear (gives shortest reset) 6-9lb recoil spring (I prefer 8lb) PD 13lb hammer spring( works with heavy hammer and pd parts) PD reduced Power FP spring Xtra power Extractor spring 9mm Extractor PD reduced Sear spring Precision made sear cage pin made by me( eliminates sear cage + sear wobble, and a crisper disengagement on trigger press) Factory polished sear cage( less friction on moving sear) Xtreme G2 racker or Angled G1 racker. Xtreme trigger plunger Factory trigger bar (almost need to own several to pick best one) Over sized mag release(factory) IPSC Alex RTS2 mount 8 MOA RTS2 or 8 MOA slide ride Única Hammer short strut. #dgbullets 115g bullets HS6 or AA7 powder Current Slide/Frame combo Older Limited frame with better checkering and up swept beaver tail GT slide V12 9mm stroked. Also Tanfoglio 40s&w slides will and can to be tuned to run 9mm reliably with a 9mm barrel obviously. The Spare GT barrel that comes with the gun, can also be used with limited slide in conjuction with cone comp. This is basically what you have to do to the GTs and this is thee best parts and parts combos I've used and found. Enjoy.

    P10F IPSC LEGAL

Does anyone know if, or when, the P10F Or will make the IPSC approved gun list? Was thinking of getting one for IPSC Nats.
  3. Hello, as a new shooter (started last year) i will have my first IPSC classifiers this summer. I am therefore studying the stage set-ups, even reproducing some for dry fire practice. Classifier 69 (see attached diagram - credits: ipsc-tech.org) puzzles me as regards how to shoot it. Stage begins with 3 far open targets, 23 meters/75 feet, to be engaged from position A 'with a minimum of two round each', then reload and proceed to position B, same string, and so forth up to position D. Total rounds to be scored is 8 per target. Based on my skill level, shooting from 23 meters/75 feet will give me bad splits and potential mikes (not to mention the added challenge of a first DA shot). Next station is the same, at 14 meters/45 feet, which is probably more than what I am used to shoot in competition. Positions C and D give me confidence of hitting the target reliably in controlled pairs. Now, I will ask a question without being cheeky about it: i shoot and compete for fun, i am not looking for shortcuts, but rather to elaborate a strategy including make up shots. Is it allowed to point and shoot rapid pairs engaging the targets from positions A and B, and engage from C and D with 3 or 4 shots each target? This would make it likely to obtain the required minimum 8 hits on each target. The efficiency would be brought by comparing splits obtainable at differing distances: I can shoot 4 shots at 7 meters faster and more reliably than 2 shots at 23, so I am better off doing it. Fact: Would this comply with the stage instructions/IPSC rules? Opinion: Would you consider this to be sporting behaviour?

  5. Hello everybody, Is there somebody from the SF area that knows if there are any shooting range (public or private) where it's possible to properly train for IPSC (or any action pistol sports like IDPA, USPSA) ? With properly I mean, private bay, possibility to place targets, use of holsters and no rate of fire restrictions. Thanks!
  6. This is Jim Tan from Canada. I love IPSC/USPSA. I have been shooting matches for one year and seven months now. One year and ten months from the day I first shot a handgun. Now, I make up my mind and know I love this sport so much that I want to be the "Paper M". I want to prepare myself for world shoot 2020. In year 2018 to 2020 shooting season, I will focus on open division. I registered my USPSA membership, and will shoot some USPSA matches in US next year. So I can practice real open division shooting, not the "Open 10" division in Canada. haha! I will update my daily training info and video here, so to push myself to keep up the work and get better.

  8. Although I have significant experience with firearm, and I can say I have been a competitive shooter for two decades (I was a nationally ranked archer) I am new to 3-gun, IPSC, IDPA etc. Can anyone point me to people, clubs, or matches in the Central Illinois are?
  9. Hello everyone, beginner competitive shooter from Italy here. I've shot some IDPA (SSP Master) and about to shoot IPSC. Brian's book totally changed my way of shooting, as I guess happened to everyone in here
  10. Hello everyone, I'm a competitive shooter on a long business trip to Santa Clara. Due to state regulations I can't rent a gun, so I fear my marksmanship will perish . I'm wondering if there's any shooting group that maybe I can join for a refreshment. Thanks everybody!
  11. I just finished my black badge. I'm starting IPSC/USPSA and looking forward to it. I choose miss-fire as a play off the words for miss as in female and fire as in pew pew pew! Happy New Years! This is my introduction to myself.
  12. Hi, I'm going to compete in the IPSC National (160 PF) and I dont know the data with 3n37 + Precision Delta 124JHP + CCI Barrel 5,4 No Holes Some help ? Thank !!!!!! J+
  13. Hello, Would someone know does gen 3 Glock 17 (or 34) equipped with Dawson Precision ICE magwell fit in to IPSC Standard box (225 x 150 x 45 mm)? G17/34 is 138 mm tall, so there's only 12 mm free space "under" the grip. Length won't be a problem with G17, but G34 is 222 mm long, so there's only 3 mm of free space.. Width won't be a problem. Dawson told me that ICE is 42 mm wide. For some reason Dawson hasn't provided me an answer to this question (how much ICE adds to the length and height of the gun). I've asked it from them couple of times, and they always send me a reply telling how much ICE weights
  14. Hey all! New to the forum but no to shooting. I have been shooting for about 30 years or so. I have been a trainer in the shooting arts for about 23 years or so. Funny that I just now decided to give competitions a try. So I decided to try out USPSA and my first match will be on May 7th if I can get everything in order by then. I'm thinking of trying out the Limited Division with a major power factor in .40, I hope. I also just started reloading as well, so I am trying to learn as much as I can at this point. I have read that this is one of the best sites for competition and reloading information so I am hoping to learn a lot and give back as soon as I am able to. I don't know if it matters but I just picked up a Springfield Armory XD(M) 5.25" Competition in .40 S&W to use in competitions. I haven't shot it yet but I'm sure it will handle nicely. Pleasure to meet everyone. Mat
  15. April 2nd, 2017 Roy Bohmfalk packed up his gear and moved on to the next stage. My Coach traveled under the radar. He became Master class in IPSC when they voted on it. He started with Jeff Cooper in the Big Bear Valley days. His training partner was Albert Nichols. He regularly beat Ray Chapman. He was on a PPC team with Jack Weaver. Some where I think his name is on a SWPL (Southwest Pistol League) trophy. In 1992 he put together the first womens practical pistol team, the San Diego Sure Shots, coaching us for 2 years. And, he was zen enough sport to wear the teal and purple jerseys we chose for our team colors. He taught so many people! Knowing him was to learn more than just sight alignment and trigger pull. He changed my direction in life and changed who I was. Services will be held at San Jacinto Valley Cemetary in Hemet CA April 17th at 10:30am. If you have a remembrance, picture, or story about Roy, please post it in this thread.
  16. Hello All, I am going to be at Tinker AFB the weekend of the 12th & 13th to visit my brother/sister in law, and nephew. Figure while I was in town I would try and find a match. Can anyone shed some light on any matches that weekend within an hour or so of the base? Thank you all in advance! Andrew Hyder
  17. I recently bit the bullet (and drained the bank account) and purchased a Dillon Super 1050 reloader with a complete Mark7 Autodrive setup for 9mm & .223/5.56mm. I am asking for any and all recipes you folks might have for 9mm to meet Minor PF for USPSA/IPSC Production, IDPA SSP/ESP, as well as Steel matches and general target shooting. Ideally, I would like to use the same basic load for various pistols including Glock 19/17/34, CZ SP01, EAA/Tango, and Sig P320. I am looking for 9mm loads using 124gr projectiles (have plenty on hand already) and either Titegroup, CFE Pistol or AutoComp powders (all on hand). As for .223/5.56mm, I will be using it for local 3Gun and carbine matches with a 55gr projectile and leaning towards Varget or CFE223 powders. Any and all recipes or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks all!
  18. Here goes! Over 10 things went wrong for this to happen, I'll try to keep it simple. 14 shot the pre-match. On a particular stage competitor 13 realized you could see part of a bobber before hitting the activating popper, so he shot it stationary. I was his RO, I did not order a re-shoot, I think it was a smart strategy on the competitor's part. The next day I am about to shoot the stage when I realize there's now a vision barrier blocking me from doing the same. I make my protest know to the RO and scorekeeper, who say they'll talk to the MD as the RM is only arriving latter that day (it's Friday AM). I shoot the stage, under the belief competitor 13 will have to re-shoot. Nobody is disputing that a modification was made. That afternoon, competitor 13 and RM arrive (carpooling to match) and I let them both know there will need to be a reshoot. Competitor 13 says, "not my problem, I'm done the match, my gun is at home". The RM goes to talk to the MD, no action is taken. Saturday, no action taken. I bring my concern to the RM again, he asks "why are you complaining? you smoked his time on that stage" I replied, "I'm not aware of the results, my competition should have to shoot the same stage I shot, maybe I'd beet him by more?" Sunday morning I filed an arbitration on this stage and another (nearly identical scenario, fault lines moved making stage more difficult before I and the other 35 competitors shot) I referenced rule 2.3.3.1, as the actions of 1 competitor, caused the modification, I asked that a re-shoots be ordered for competitor 13. The arbitration committee, gave me back my money but they tossed both stages, stating it was impossible for everybody to re-shoot the stages, referring to rule 2.3.4 Obviously, I didn't win the match and finished a very close 2nd. Questions: 1. Can a committee do anything else but uphold or deny my arbitration? (I asked for competitor 13 to be ordered to re-shoot, to me it was clear that his actions led to the modifications. I got my money, but they didn't uphold my arbitration) 2. Is "I don't have my gun" not refusing to re-shoot? (2.3.3.3 a competitor who refuses to re-shoot gets zero....) 3. Should an RM ever be looking at stage results when disputes over modification and unfair advantage arise?
  19. Has anyone of you experiences these two magazines regarding matching accuracy and quallität? My experience is that the STI Magazine are simpler and easier to adjust. The quality is better and a Grams Spring Folower kit goes to work faster properly.
  20. Hello, I will start my new season of IPSC. I am a newbie on reloading. I shot in minor production. I would like some informations on reloading. My goal is to be a minimum factor not more. Because like this, there will be less recoil, best gun control, faster return to target, so less time which is important for ipsc. (my wife shoot with me, and less recoil is better for her too) Im scared to load my cartridges for 125 PF. 1) because if there is a difference between my chrono record and the one on the competition, I may not pass and not being classed. 2) I was told that according to weather conditions, atmospheric pressure from one place to another, that can change the power factor? is it true ? how many this can change the power factor? In the end, I'd really like to know the smallest value of factor that I can take, without taking the risk of not passing the chrono on a competition. Finally, last question, the power factor influences really much the accuracy ? The research for the reduced recoil with light load will not going to influence so much on accuracy ? I heard that for the 9mm 124gr best power factor was 133, someone would already heard that and have some sources to prove it? sorry for my bad english, I try to do my best. Thank you for your reply. PS if needed : i shoot with cz75 sp01 shadow. bullet : 124gr LOS powder : n320 primer : sellier & bellot brass : wincester / magtech
  21. Simple question - should true "amateur" shooters have to compete against "pros"? When I was involved in motor racing there was a pretty clear definition of who was an amateur and who was a pro. There doesn't seem to be that distinction in USPSA. I would have thought the classification system would take care of this, but it seems like pros come in D class to GM these days. Should any "pro" shooter be required to register as "industry" so they don't take prizes away from the "amateurs"?
  22. Hi all, New to the CZ area and am looking to purchase a variation of the shadow, if someone could explain to me the differences between the shadow, shadow line, and shadow orange that would be appreciated, also if someone could tell me what mods can be made to the gun whilst remaining in production division of ipsc. I read other posts but didnt really get a clear cut answer.
  23. As I did research on what open division gun I wanted, and looked for every photo of a Czechmate I could find on the internet, I noticed that the forums here were lacking a thread specifically dedicated to images of the CZ Czechmate. If you are a Czechmate owner, let's see them photos. I'll start with my newly purchased CM I just picked up today:
  24. Firstly thank you in advance for any answers to my questions. I'm a IPSC shooter from New Zealand and I have managed to get on a work jaunt to Las Vegas from the 31st Jan to 7th Feb 2016. My question to those in the know is are there any competitions, clubs or other pistol shooting events on in the area at that time that I can be a spectator at? If not what would the locals recommend in the way of ranges or gun stores to visit? My other question is I'm struggling to work out the export restrictions from the US back to NZ. I would like to purchase a few parts and accessories while I'm there but I am confused as to if the $100 value restriction applies to personal purchases taken back in my luggage or is it just for stores exporting? I will have all the appropriate NZ import permits so the problems will not be at this end. Any help on the above would be appreciated.
