RMR 115 FMJs, 8.8-9.0gr HS6, Winchester SRP @ 1.165". Should be around 170pf. It is by far a better feeling load than 124s IMO.
I've put about 10,000 rounds thru mine this year with 0 leading
My whole theory is the following. We're shooting open division. We want the gun to stay flat. We want to work the comp. Why not give it as much gas as possibly to do so? Hence, 115s. With HS6, there's still quite a bit of room in the case to fit a 115. I'm using matching headstamp brass and load to 1.165". It's not a compressed load.
So I'm curious as to what class everyone is that's chiming in. Not in a bragging way either. Just another reference point. Or am I a bell-end for asking?
I've put about 8000 rounds thru my DVC open of fmj with exposed lead base. I have 0 leading in my comp with 9.0 grains of hs6 under it. Everyone says there's more surface area on a HP compared to a FMJ. So I purposely squibbed a variety of HP's and my FMJ to be able to measure the amount of surface area that touched the lands/groves of my barrel. There was no difference. Your results may vary.
I used 115s btw
For 9 major, most people that I shoot with including myself use 115s. I feel like the recoil impulse is softer than 124s. I've tried 124s multiple times with many different projectiles. I still prefer 115s. I use basic FMJs and love them.
I'm sure others said this but I'm not reading the whole thread. This was my first full season of open. My suggestion is skip it and shoot CO. It costs wayyyyyyy less and if you're very good, you can beat open shooters with CO. It happens all the time around here. Only the shooter does production and beats GMs in open..
I wish someone made a "S shaped" racker for us south paws. If I used the straight one that came with my open gun, it gets in the way sometimes when drawing my gun. By that I mean I hit it with my right hand thumb when going to put it on my thumb rest
yes I agree.
I have approximately 5000 rounds thru my open gun with my DPP and not 1 issue. The DPP on my backup gun has maybe 300 rounds on it with no problems. I'll probably be putting another one on my Walther Q5 for a CO gun. I love my DPPs
I do not own a RTS2 because I've seen a bunch of people have problems. And I figure I have enough problems that I don't want to install a new one of my
gun
Just leave it on during a match and before its your turn, take off the cover and look thru the lens. If it's too bright, adjust accordingly. Obviously I'm talking about doing so while in the holster still... I feel like this downfall of it is outweighed by all the benefits of the pckage
You must be talking about Speer Gold Dot +P 9mm matching headstamp? I've shot about 4000 casing of it in my open gun. So 115s 9.0hs6 at 1.165"... Anyway, I specifically bought this brass to not pick it up. The little amount of brass I've picked up, I find about 1 or 2 casing split out of 100. That being said, just shoot it and leave it.
