  1. The poor comment was a joke.. I was just taking about shooting in general. My math is from Xtreme case of 230gr 2000 projos at $230. I don't shoot single stacks unless I'm just plinking.
  2. I only shoot 9 major out of my open gun anyway. I pay $0.15 per loaded round (projectile, powder, primer, all matching headstamp once fired brass). Whereas a 45 230gr projo is $0.115 per projectile... I'm paying $0.075 per projectile. Multiply that times 500 per week times 52 weeks... I'll stick to 9mm. And yes, it sucks to be poor.
  3. Your primers look fine to me. If you wanna see flattened primers, shoot 9 major loads with a federal spp. Those get washed out bad
  4. 45 is too expensive to shoot. The boolits cost too much even with reloading
  5. All my MBX mags fit just fine. My base pad for my start mag is all hammered up too. Nothing a file can't fix though. I was one of the few who made it to chrono before it broke. I made 169pf
  6. Also, I wouldn't want a rts2 cuz I've seen so many people have problems with them shutting off mid stage. Even with the V4 board
  7. So I've had a trijicon rmr, cmore slide ride with a 6 and 8 minute dot, ff3, and vortex venom, and now a DPP. IMO, the DPP is by far the best with glass clarity and how crisp the dot is. I have 2, 2.5moa DPPs and I have zero issues with seeing it in direct sun. I sold all my other dots because they weren't as good as the DPP.
  8. I used to use pure lead boolits. Eventually I had a smooth bore.
  9. So I've been told this, but when I compare a 115 to a 124, there's no difference in surface area that the bullet has on the rifling. I'm no GM and I'm not a knowologist, but IMO there's no substantial difference in felt recoil or "accuracy" of a 115 vs 124. I shoot 115s because it uses more powder which means more gas. I want gas to work my comp... I run 115fmj on 9.0 HS6 @1.165". I chrono'ed at Area 8 at 169fp. I chronoed this past weekend at Area 7 with the same batch of ammo with 179pf. Cleaning my barrel got me 10pf gain. In case people are curious, I shoot a STI DVC Open
  10. Example of my above statement. 2 Alphas! style points!

    HS6 with 38 SC

I used to do 9.1gr of HS6 on a Winchester SRP with RMR 115 fmj in a 9x19 casing @ 1.170" and gave me 171pf. I went down to 9.0 and kept the rest. Did 169pf at area 8 a few weeks ago. A friend of mine said he did 10.0HS6 on a 115 in a 9mm and said it felt very violent. He has 2 popple holes and I forget what setup..
  12. Since I'm a self proclaimed Grand Master millennial, I figure looks is 50% of this game. If I have a cool looking gun and equipment, I'll at least look good while missing
  13. Fix your eyes if possible and run a dot gun. I use a DPP with the 2.5MOA dot. At full brightness it appears to be bigger. I'd also suggest using a different gun instead of modifying your existing one just in case you don't like dots
  14. I use 3.2gr of titegroup on a 147gr RMR plated bullet at 1.140" for my Q5. I love how soft it shoots
  15. I buy once fired brass and never pick it up. I figured that was the point of shooting 9 major
  16. You should join our USPSA community as mentioned in the PM I sent you.
  17. I suppose there's always an exception to a rule. I went to a tech high school in Massachusetts, so that's what I'm referencing.
  18. SJan, you think it's a good idea to bring a rifle barrel to a tech school to weld a comp? Granted I would have loved that back in my tech school welding days, I don't think it would be wise to do.
  19. I'd say focus on getting hits and speed will come. I'm also not a GM so I have no idea what I'm talking about.
  20. That sucks, but at least you got out early. I just shot area 8 recently and a guy on my squad got DQ'ed on the last stage. It was the longest shoot I've shot, we finished the day at 8PM, and he got DQ'ed for clearing a malfunction on his open gun with his booger hook in the trigger guard. I would have been so upset with myself and how slow the day went.
  21. I always bench rest my gun when sighting in. I haven't noticed anything other than my hits being where I'm putting the dot
  22. I tried posting a pic of my open gun but I guess It's too big. I have the Mitchell right side mag catch. I have to adjust my grip to hit the button with my left thumb but it's far superior, in my opinion, than using my index finger on the stock mag catch setup.
