  1. Lots of guys around me shoot L-10 with 1911's both in 40 and 45. A double stack may be easier to reload but some drills on reloads will solve that. Go for it
  2. lots of lead through lots of different gloches no problems
  3. I run 9lbs springs in both my 9's and they feel very soft to me. Get a 9, 10 and 11 lbs spring, a couple hundred rounds of ammo and your timer and go and do some standard drills with the different wgt springs and see if it makes a difference in your splits with the different wgts etc. ( make sure your shooting A's or there will not be a true comparison)
  4. I use Clays at 3.7 to 3.9 grs with 230 moly coated o Hi TEC coated to get 175-178 PF (chrono'd at matches , area 7 and Nat'l) Spring weight is 15 lbs, I would not change your spring wgt IF you are happy with it because of changing bullets unless you are going to drop the charge/ PF of your loads when loading the coated bullets.
  5. answering the Op's question (would you shoot open minor if there was a class) NO
  6. Get a load that works and shoot it
  7. 4.6 - 4.8 TG any coated 180 Bayou, SNS, BBI 9coated Hi-Tek) I'm trying Blue Bullets in my 38 super comp next
  8. Open Minor Huh, Production Optics Huh, 8 shoot revolvers Huh, 10 shoot minor SS or 8 shot major SS Huh Just go and shoot if you want to use some unusual gun or load it some way other than the norm go for it. My BUT is! Do we need to create a special venue for each group that wants something different or should we truly follow the gun owning /buying trends and make spots for those ONLY when needed based on how many guys are already shooting with us using the odd / unusual equipment. Next thought don't like pushing your stuff to major I understand (don't agree but understand) shoot minor and have fun. Probably a fairly good chance you may not place much different than you currently do. That is not a jab but I've shot SS minor and major on and off and usually place about the same with either gun.
  9. Call/email Wolfe Springs and get one of their reduced recoil spring packs so you can calibrate the load to how you want your gun to cycle. Also you can tune it to recover better for each load and how you hold the gun etc. Not as important on steel because you transition each target but still useful
  10. 1.250-1.255 will run in the auto and other than the edges catching when you load them into the 625 they will be fine. I like the others have some stuff that was loaded long for the autos and it shot fine in the revolver. 230 rn is what I use for my 625 and they are loaded 1.255
  11. thus after 3 years of shooting IDPA I'm done with it an the organization. Ya can't even ask a ? w/o a bunch of stuff.
  12. The reason you want to load long is generally the gun will run smoother with 1.180 to 1.200 ammo. 2nd there will be less pressure due to having a slightly larger combustion area with the bullet seated out farther. this will often times allow you to load faster burning rate powders that have a perceived softer push/recoil to them
  13. Guncraft will fit BUT it will take a lot of filing/dremel fitting to get it to clear the mags when they are fully loaded. Several I've fitted went in fine with empty mags BUT stuck on the trigger bow when the mag was fully loaded causing the trigger to not move freely frt to rear.
  14. Not a Kimber fan but to give you an option a custom ll might work they should still be under a 1000 Sig at the shops will sell for under a 1000
  15. I went bushing so I could play all the games
  16. My open gun has gone down a couple of times usually just foolish stuff but I switched guns and finished the match. Got home fixed the new gun and went on I do a lot of my dryfire with the old (back up gun) stops wear and tear on the new one. Both have same grips, safeties, c-mores etc so they point the same and feel the same
  17. Can't speak for the SVI grips but the PT stainless grip has a very nice feel that sets the weight in your hand like a 1911.
  18. 7.3 - 7.4 grs 7625, 125 Montana Gold, sRp ( thou I've shot a lot of s pistol primers) makes 172-3 every where and has low SD 7.4 - 7.5 autocomp every thing else the same. Good flat load for when 7625 is no more
  19. Shot mine in a 10 stage match last weekend gun ran with out a hitch. Accuracy is real nice. Handles well, like Tim H I've taken the 80 series stuff out other than that the gun is just the way it came. Real happy with it
  20. Can be done and is done. As always use caution and make sure there is nothing on the ram section that could make the primer go off. cause when its in the BB its basically a chamber!!! with the die around it. If you have a lead bullet you will size that also
  21. WST with a 200 gr Bayou runs real soft 4.0 to 4.2 will get you from 167 to 175 in my 40's I run longer COL 1.185 cause it will shoot out off the para, sti and SS gun at that length. 4.8 in a 180 gr make PF but I use another powder for my 180 load and only when I'm out of 200's
