Sounds like if you're using an effective comp, you want to go with lighter bullets and slower powders to work the comp, like WAC. If you're not using an effective comp, you want heavier bullets and faster powders ???

I've had trouble with "smoking" in the humid summers of VA or FL.

As Yeti and Super mentioned above, the mags can limit your OAL, as you've discovered. BUT, it's possible that a different bullet might allow you to load longer, if you desire. Each bullet has a different shape, and that can affect the longest OAL you can use.

That's a large frop (171 to 166). BUT, different caliber, much lower quantity of powder ???

Because of the shape of the bullet, I have to agree with comments above - bet you can run those OAL's much longer than usual for a .45 ACP. And, they'd feed better if they were longer rather than shorter

Long time ago, there was an FBI load for snub noses - was a 158 gr HP lead bullet loaded kind of stout ... Don't know what they're doing now ?

Has she actually fired a 637 ? There is a big difference in the feel in your hand, just holding the gun, and the feel of actually shooting it and hitting a target. My wife hates the S&W J-frame when she actually fires it - the double action trigger is a major deterrent to accuracy for her. She prefers to shoot my Colt .45 - much more stable and easier to shoot. I'd suggest you let her fire a few guns before you select her first pistol

Yes, try to get it up to at least PF168 - 172 and that should produce more gas and therefore "work the comp" better - make it "shoot flatter". To make it shoot even flatter, you might try the lighter bullets. (I presume you're using 124 gr bullets - hopefully JHP's). The 135's will shoot flatter if lower than a Major load, but probably not shoot flatter as a Major load.

WOW !!! That seems to go against everything that has been discussed here for the past decade. The DVC Open may or may Not get higher PF's - each barrel is different. How does the comp work with the TG ? Where are you, BTW, that you cannot buy WAC or some other powder typically used for 9mm Major ?

Sounds like battery is not making full contact. Have you tried wiping the battery and the contact point in the scope ? Tightening the screw cover ?
