  1. Probably in how the two of you "see the sights". He is seeing the front sight a little higher in the rear sight than you are ... That's why YOU have to sight in YOUR gun, yourself
  2. In order ? Are you saying the Z6i is better than the Z8i ?
  3. You actually "crimp" bullets only for revolvers ... For semi-autos, you simply remove the bell that enabled you to seat the bullet. Your case should be straight up and down when you finish "crimping" ...
  4. If you're looking for a great lube, I'd suggest our host's Slide-Glide. I use it on all my pistols - it's great, inexpensive and doesn't spray all over the place when a shot is fired
  5. Sounds, to me, like ECN answered your question ... He recommends the JP supermatch in ultra light profile - light and Very Accurate. AND, all the barrels he mentioned "produce 1/2 MOA groups". What did he miss ?
  6. Most people find that using lighter bullets enables them to use MORE powder, which produces MORE gas, which makes the compensator work "better". Been reading about a gun club here on BE that is using 147 gr bullets in OPEN guns, but not sure what the advantage is ???
  7. This is important to getting consistent results from your chrono. At 5-6 feet away, you are blowing too much gas/particles thru your chrono that might interfere with your consistent results
  8. Had cataract surgery (similar to Lasik, I believe), and my eyesight in that eye improved greatly at a distance, but not up close (can't read with that eye). Over the past ten years, vision has gotten a little worse than right after surgery, but still quite a bit better than before. And, the surgeon improved my astigmatism in that eye, also - much better still
  9. Been there, got the t-shirt. I've sold at least 8 guns in the past few years Of course, I have also bought 2 new guns
  10. The trick, IMHO, is to confirm those numbers by shooting a nice group at 50 yards. I've found it is Much Better to sight in at a further distance (50 yards) and know your offsets from there. Much more precise
  11. I'm pretty sure she was MUCH older than12 ...
  12. I'd guess it's a problem with your powder drop or your chrono ... Inconsistent powder drops , or, problem with chrono.
  13. I had to back the 115 MG JHP down to 1.165" or so, also. Still loading the 124 gr's at same length - looks like I might be able to make them a bit longer - thanks for info
  14. No damage to the gun from 100,000 snaps/year ?
  15. IMHO, a beginner would learn a LOT more useable information from watching a non-Pro. Some idiot 73 year old, B shooter will show you how NOT to shoot a match, better than watching some 12 year old, showoff kid with lightning fast reflexes and uncanny capabilities. But, that's just my opinion ... enjoy And, bring your gun ... be much more fun to actually shoot the match
  16. I have never used an undersize die, but had to shorten my 9mm Major loads from 1.175" down to 1.160", because I had bullets separating from the cases and dumping powder into my STI TruBor. 115 gr MG JHP's Unless you use brand new brass, I would think that it would be very helpful to use an undersized die if you're going to load Way Out. Don't know if it will work, but I'd be surprised if it would work at all without the undersized die.
  17. Have you successfully fired those 200-300 rounds ? I backed off 1.175" because the bullets were falling out of the cases as they were being fired - not enough grip on the bullet (115 gr MG JHP).
  18. Sorry, I can't comment. I'm BOTH, rich and good looking Good, or Lucky ?
  19. WOW !!! That sums it up in a nutshell.
  20. Bring your gun .... If you mention to the MD that you've NEVER shot a match, they'll most likely invite you , for the regal sum of $10 or $20, to shoot the match and assign you to shoot with them. They'll walk you thru it, and mentor you, all the way Otherwise, bring eye/ear protection (thanks HI5-0), plus a chair, umbrella, weather appropriate gear, food/beverage. Stay out of everyone's way - don't talk to shooters who are about to shoot - pitch in and tape/paste after being told how/when to tape/paste, and stick around to break down the stages (put the props back into storage). You'll be rewarded by making friends, learning a great deal, and might get to shoot different types of guns by shooters who LOVE to help out new shooters. And, if you're a very pretty, young woman, you'll probably receive at least 2 marriage proposals from elderly gentlemen.
  21. I was close to 65 years old () having trouble seeing the front sight and the target clearly (lots of trouble), saw an STI for the first time () and NEEDED one, tired of scoring at the bottom of the sheet after a match and wanted to learn how to shoot quickly and finish in the top ten .... If I shot 7th out of 10 OPEN shooters, I was a hero, and near the top of the leader board. The 9mm Major bit scared me, at first, but I overcame that fear, in large part by reading the pioneering efforts reported here on BE. Learning to shoot OPEN at a faster pace than I've ever shot before, also speeded me up for Limited, which was a nice bonus that I never expected. AND, I loved to beat Glock shooters who were MUCH better shooters than I'll ever be. PLUS, when you walk out there in the morning, everyone sees a gunslinger, walking the walk, instead of a fat, bald grandfather with thick eyeglasses and slow reaction times. But, the big disadvantage was ..... um, I forgot ?? Was there a disadvantage ???
  22. I hear you, loud and clear. That's why I switched from HS6 to WAC - no more full cases which are a PITA to load
