fishsticks
When I ran out of slide glide, I was using Mobil 1. Went skeet shooting with friends, and remembered my can of SToS I use on the tabs/ejectors of my O/U. It's a lot like slide glide, but it's clear like vasoline. Works like a champ, and stays in place. Haven't decided whether to get another bottle of it or slide glide. What is SToS? http://www.ballisticproducts.com/STOS-Lubricant-2oz-Jar/productinfo/1610001/

BillD
I also used up a bottle of bicycle chain oil on 1911's. That worked just fine also.

warpspeed
This is the first I've heard using ATF as lube. What's the advantage over regular oil ?Several advantages. Read this:http://www.grantcunningham.com/lubricants101.html Now that was a fascinating read.
a matt
Lucas Oil, Extreme Duty Gyn Oil. I clean my open gun at 500 rounds or less. that just depends on if it's a 2 day match or a 1 day match. I figure if STI , Armalite & DoubleStar use it exclusively, it will serve me well. No grease for me. Edited April 21, 2015 by a matt
Pfiddy
Castrol Syntec works fine for me. Cheap, available and it doesnt get tacky when it heats up. A 3 year supply costs about $

BiggenF15
Here I thought I was the only one who used STOS. I got a container of it with a P/W shotgun reloader and used it on guns for many years.

a matt
Lucas Extreme Duty Gun Oil plus I started using the Lucas Gun Metal Polish/Tumbler Media Additive instead of Nu Finish and I have not had to use the Dillon case lube or The Hornady One Shot any more. That media additive is some good stuff, shinny brass and no case lube. Edited March 26, 2016 by a matt
Scott_Sweeney
I use militec Been using it for quite a while on my single stack gun but I just got a DVC limited and it's just a little thin for the slide cuts on it. I'm switching up to SNO grease to see how it works.

Dranoel
If nothing else it will smell good. Makes the guys in my squad hungry and they can't focus on their shooting. Unfair advantage? Maybe. But I need all the help I can get.

427Cobra
I use SlideGlide lite, to this aircraft mechanic it smells like Mobile 28 thinned with a oil of some sort, 1 tub should last a lifetime.
