I also load 40 long, 1.180-1.200" but shoot 1911/2011's. It depends on what pistol(s) you are shooting and what feeds best.
Find the shortest OAL chamber/magazine that your specific ammo will be used in and test it in the others. CZ's & XD's need a shorter OAL than some.
Simple if you load only for one gun....find what fits and what it likes with THAT bullet.
Another excuse at the ready when I totally embarass myself on a stage. Or better still.
I'm going to a shoot. At a shoot. Having a bite after a shoot. Soooo don't call me, email or text me. nada. You will ruin my shoot woman!
The trend is towards small pancake style that can generate 100+ psi and they are portable and handy. But, gotta say a large tank cuts down on the noise because it doesn't need to run as much. Go get a cup of coffee while it recharges and you can use it in peace. Install it in a different room/area.
Works great for fast loads in all of the calibers already mentioned. Also good for revolver loads below Blue Dot/2400 full house magnum territory. The shock & awe effect is definitely interesting, but not always wanted.
Best first line of defense from online scumbags. Armslist is a FTF only deal. I've shipped mags, parts & gear as a seller on AL, but no way I'm buying unless FTF.
To me, it depends upon the gun. I feel like it makes a noticable difference in Major PF standard dustcover guns. Less so for Minor PF and in full length dustcover guns. Test it out and run some drills.
Yes the existing molds work just fine, but make for a longer bullet for given weight. These molds will likely be replaced over time with no groove, based on customer preference. I prefer no lube groove coated where available. Lube groove isn't a deal breaker though.
I have a ported sporting clays gun, but the hunting/skeet/trap guns are not. Hard to tell a difference other than being louder.
Maybe it makes a difference on quick second shot, but I can't say for certain. Might help more when using the fast steel goose loads, but I would never subject my hunting partners (or me) to that.
No additional ported shotgun barrels in my future.
Bet that got your attention!
Very low odds situation, but we see it can happen. Crushed primer may have been at the edge of detonation when originally seated.
Glad you are alright.
Makes me rethink impact puller use with badly mangled primers.
I have used both BBI & Blue Bullets, plus many others and the quality has been good. Price per shipped, at the time I need them is the key factor.
ACME, Bayou & SNS fan also, I tend to stick with Bayou & ACME lately.
