  1. I use Hornandy M-1's (vibratory) in the garage and separate the brass from the media in an open air area. Wish to limit my lead exposure so I don't do this inside. I'm too lazy to decap prior to tumbling (like I used to) so my media gets dirty. Can't imagine wet processing the same batch, twice! Betting you get a nice clean result though. Decapping and wet tumbling prior is going to really cut down on lead dust in the media. I think you are good to go tumbling inside with a decent fitting lid, but I'd still consider separating the media outside.
  2. Oh geez, think I can recall that packaging in my Grandpa's shop back in the day. Desperate times eh? Storage conditions are everything when buying primers that um...far out, man.
  3. Curious to hear about what you may find in direct comparisons. Please keep us posted.
  4. The weight of all those rounds come to bear on the feedlips during aggressive slide lock reloads. The ammo stack will bounce slightly and hammer the feedlips apart over time. Could that be a factor?
  5. Cabela's? Yes, $90/K is a bit rough. At least we are starting see SEE primers. Good!

    165 vs 180

Shot plenty of both and there are positives for each. I concur that the 165's are snappier with quick front sight return to target, while the 180's (with a relatively fast powder) are more of a push. It just depends on your preference. Test some of each, pick one load, zero it and go shoot. Keep in mind that the 180's will often impact a little higher than the 165 loads with a fairly comparable charge weight.
  7. Not a concern. For me, Sport Pistol in 9 & 40 loads made less of a difference in the very cold weather than SD did.
  8. Welcome to the forum, Tollefs! Sorry to hear about your father.
  9. Welcome to the forum! Post away.
  10. Been there. The 380 in with 9mm gets me too. Still easier than 45 SPP v. LPP. After awhile, I swear it all starts looking the same.
  11. After your advice, I degreased thoroughly and went with Loctite red on the top strap plate screws and blue on the CMore screws. Letting it set up and then I'll test it over the next few weeks. Seems pretty solid, but time will tell. Thank you both!
  12. Need a bit of experienced advice on revolver red dot mounting. Adding a S&W Allchin C-More mount and I am contemplating which Loctite to use. 85% non magnum loads, but I will definitely run some true magnum reloads and hunt on occasion. Considering using Loctite 262 RED on the plate to top strap screws, and Loctite 242 BLUE for the C-More to plate screws. Need some 'been there done that' advice.
  13. You will fit right in. Welcome to the forum, Johnny!
  14. Do not toss them into the trash...anywhere. Get equipped: https://www.brownells.com/reloading/case-preparation/bullet-pullers/index.htm Or give them to someone that will break them down.
  15. When needed (comp'd, Open) I use custom molded in-ear passive along with electronic headphones style pro. Works nicely. Can still hear questions/commands and comfortable for long durations.
  16. Same. Try some jacketed 180's or 165's to start. Glock factory barrel will not like the long OAL many of us run for 1911/2011's, stay <1.160"
  17. Sometime back I worked up some development loads starting with 3.2gr under coated 180's. 3.2gr e3 wasn't even making 800fps. Reeeally slow....pressure too low. Barely functional at warm pleasant temps with a 12# recoil and a reduced main, std slide 5" bbl.
  18. I used 4.7gr Sport Pistol for 170PF using 200gr coated. Worked alright, but a bit snappy. Still prefer other powders for 45 Major, but can work in a pinch.
  19. Haven't exactly been hands-on with any recent production due to complete lack of availability in our area. Nada, zip available in many months. I do hope no product changes have been made, but the move to low-tox is probably inevitable. I wouldn't think a product redesign launch would be a prudent move in the middle of a supply shortage. Unless the redesign helps with availability?

    45ACP U die ?

Never needed a U-Die for any 45 loads. The 45 barrels I encountered (1911/2011 manufacturers + KKM, Nowlin, Kart, Brown, etc.) have been more consistent in chamber and bore sizing than say 9mm. I've only used U-Dies for jacketed bullets in 9mm and 40, not coated which are slightly oversize. Really no issues with the FCD dies except for rare oddball 9mm barrel that required quite oversized lubed lead/coated bullets to be accurate. Just check your bullet with the FCD before you go all full production mode.
  21. The old Clint Eastwood westerns are close, but gotta go with "Fight Club."
  22. Prefer a quality Hi-Tek coated for practice. Cost effective plated bullets have not been as accurate for me as coated has been, in several pistols. I'll stick with bulk jacketed instead of going with the $$ nice plated. So, no more plated.
