  1. The softer nylon ones tend to swell and break up often. I used to use the CP Buffs as they were the toughest then I switched to Dawson’s Aluma Buff and have been using them for years in my open guns without problems. I usually replace them every year and they still have life in them.
  2. Just ordered some case lube and they have really good shipping rates.
  3. Lots of comments that it smells good. What’s it smell like? Is it really non-sticky as advertised? I would like your opinion if it is worth the price.
  4. HS-6 is working for me. Works in either 9 major or 38

    Shortest Reach Trigger?

I have CZ Custom one in my S2 because I didn’t want to have to mess with the set screws. Another S2 owner in the club has the CGW one in his. I tried his and it feels like my CZ Custom one has a shorter reach. Haven’t measured it, yet.
  6. This is what I used to pull 1,000 bullets from loads that were too hot (used different brass without testing). I couldn’t find a 9mm collet so I used one for rifle sized bullets. After adjusting, I was able to pull the JHP bullets without marking them up. Better than using the kinetic puller. I also have the Grip n Pull which is good for smaller amounts since you have to squeeze tight enough to keep the bullet from sliding through. Hopefully your loads have enough of the bearing surface exposed to get a good grip for either method.
  7. If the price is right, get em. They work fine and are just like any of the other top name brands.
  8. I would say “Yes, it feels better” than the Hiperfire. He too said he could feel the difference plus he was breaking firing pins while using the Hiperfire. The CMC feels crisp compared to the mushy feel of the Hiperfire. I am trying the TriggerTech trigger and will see if it survives in a PCC. So far so good but only fired a hundred rounds of factory ammo.
  9. Tim, good luck with this match and hoping for success so I can come shoot it next year ??
  10. The shorter notch didn’t bother me, I never noticed the notch was shorter since I was only interested in the top of the sights.
  11. SNS coated 147 gr RN over 3.1 N320 at 1:115”
  12. I use the Dawson Precision alumabuffs in my open guns and like the feel of them. Gun works normally with no problems of a self destructing nylon buffer. Used to use the CP buffs as they were the strongest of the nylon types.
  13. After 15 then comes the attempt to “make the mag length 140 because that’s what CO uses and I can use the same mags in production “ then comes major scoring push “because my 140 mags in .40 holds less than a 9mm 140 and my gun is not competitive in Limited”.... The recent rule changes in Production was “progress or evolution” so what’s next? (See above) l want to see Production remain at 10. I’m an open shooter primarily and on occasion have shot in Production to see if I learned anything ✌?
  14. I tried having a similar gun to my primary as a backup gun. That didn’t work too well as I had to include the backup gun in practice sessions just to maintain familiarity. Got tired of that and when I bought a new open gun I knew I was going to buy a second gun from the same builder with instructions to make it identical to the one I got the previous year. Wanted to make sure that I liked the first gun before ordering an identical one. My “old” gun is now my practice gun and local match gun and the new one steps in when I shoot major matches. No problems switching since everything feels identical.
  15. Same mount and works for me. Had so many ejection issues with the straight up mounts on my other open guns I went with the sideways mount on my new open guns. Looked like it would interfere with seeing targets but was not a problem when I used it. No slide racker and don’t see a need for one. Love the sideways mount.
  16. All the ones you mentioned make build really good pistols. They all look different so if you going spend the money, you should get something that you like to look at also. Find the builder that will take the time to talk with you about your new build. Eddie Garcia had a hand in building my two open guns when he was with Ed (very happy with the results). Good luck in deciding.
  17. Could it be the difference in velocity between the two different cases?
  18. Not even. That would be like giving in to the idgits who signed the neutered mag laws.
  19. I too was using a Dillon seating die and loading SNS 147 round nose. Was experiencing the same “nipple” look on the bullet tip. I believe the Dillon seating stem for the round nose has a vent hole at the tip that causes the “nipple” formation when seating a soft bullet. I changed to a Redding micrometer seating die and now my loaded rounds have no “nipples”.
  20. I love the attention to detail the smith has applied. Check out the star burst grip screws, attention grabbing. Also like the cuts that extend from the front of the slide into the comp. what barrel and comp is that? Is the comp steel?
