Lot better than I can do -
Mpx, post 700 round mark, looking for handload info that works please

I'd start with your usual load, but use FMJ's instead of plated bullets - see if that helps -
I guess that California has only black powder shoots, now ?

I knew I should have gone with PURPLE instead of these damn Blue bullets

Help me solve this mystery... Silver primer goblins
Hi-Power Jack replied to GIO's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
It's possible that you're running the case thru the sizing/depriming die, but the primer is NOT being removed - happens to me all the time. See 4N2TO's explanation, above, for a solution -
True dat, but what gets banned right after semi-autos ?

"Universal" Speed Holster Recommendations

I may be wrong, but I'm guessing that the trigger is covered enough to prevent you putting your finger on the trigger - isn't that enough to satisfy the rules/regs ? -
Are you 50 years old?
Hi-Power Jack replied to CSEMARTIN's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
Just had my third (and hopefully last) cololoscopy. Not as bad as the first two - getting used to it, I guess. Found two polyps, both of which were benign. Planning on getting NO MORE of those - not sure I see the sense at 73 years old. -
I'm also a C Limited, and that seems a lot like I would have shot it, except I would not have stuck my gun, and me, into all those ports. I tend to stay back a little, and save a very little time not going all the way in, and pulling all the way back out for each port
-
The backup is also very useful if (when) you send your original revolver in to a gunsmith - instead of being without a gun for a week or two months, you'll be able to keep shooting
-
Could be your crimp - insufficient crimp will prevent the round from fully seating.

When you're working on a new load...
Hi-Power Jack replied to vnboileau's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
I just shoot one 15 round group - drop the 2-3 flyers, and see how the other dozen shots were for accuracy -
$$$$$ always works Welcome aboard . BTW, if you're in St Cloud, you should check out CFRPC near the Orlando airport. They have GREAT matches, too (so do Pt Malabar and Frostproof).

There are better powders, but it ain't bad ....

I got a couple of those t-shirts ....

I use range brass for 9mm Major, and get nice accuracy (3" at 50 yards) in my TruBor I wouldn't worry too much about mixed brass
-
Don't overcomplicate it (Is that a word ?) . The least amount of bell is best, as long as it's not scraping the coating off the bullets. Simple. Taper crimp is even easier - there is no crimp - it's just removing the bell. Same for lead, coated or jacketed bullets. Once you've set the crimp, it will feed in your chamber and be accurate, and once set, that's it - you can change anything else and the crimp stays the same. Have fun

When I try a powder and different bullets for USPSA (PF 125+), I load each bullet to near max of The Plunk Test and load 5 of each powder weight, trying to get close to PF 128 - 134. Then I fire the five rounds, thru the chrono, into a target at 20 yards - measure velocity, feeding, and accuracy. Eliminate rounds that don't feed properly or are not in my PF range. Narrow down the powder charge to that 128 - 134 PF range, and test ten rounds as above. Later, I'll play with the OAL - see if a slightly shorter OAL might be more accurate. I would NEVER subject myself to the rigors of testing 5-6 different bullets at the same time. Two, or possibly three at the most, but I'd stick with proven winners. Determine which weight you prefer (e.g. 147 grains) and try 2-3 different brands. Actually, I usually buy at least 1,000 of a single bullet, and shoot it until it's gone - so it's much more usual for me to test one powder and one bullet at a time - vary the amount of powder and OAL, only Take it one step at a time - don't overload it - unless you have a LOT of Time and interest - it can make for a very interesting couple days at the range. Some people bring their reloading stuff with them to the range, and actually load all the various permutations right there, narrowing it down and reloading at the same time - that would be Really Fun, if you had portable equipment and the time. What size groups ? Depends on how much time I had. As a quick start, I'd be looking to be at least as tight as the ammo I've been using - factory or whatever. Eventually, I'd keep trying different powders, bullets and OAL's until I found a load that is better than my ability to shoot I found one really quickly with my TruBor and have a load that shoots 3" at 50 yards - which is Way Better than I can shoot -
Wonder why WAC/HS6 wouldn't burn completely in a longer barrel, and yet burn completely in my TruBor 5.5" ?
-
Might depend on your load - slower powders and lighter bullets just might get a comp to work efficiently

Consistent movement of gun during recoil
Hi-Power Jack replied to Blackstone45's topic in Handgun Techniques
Not even close to gripping too tightly -
Besides a couple .22's, an old .38 and old .45, All my guns are now 9mm. Only guns I really shoot, anymore. Makes reloading easy, too. That simplifies it quite a bit. Mags are a different story - I have lots of different mags that will NOT fit other 9mm guns I'm with aandabooks - not sure why you would want to give up CZ's and switch to Glocks ??? Seems like a HUGE step backwards, to me, IMHO.
