Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. https://youtu.be/gEHNZFTfSD8 This Jerry Micheluk video seems pretty on topic, too, and includes other relevant topics.
  2. I am starting to work on revolver reloads and need instructions on proper technique for manipulating the speed loader and gun. I’m also looking at proper bullet selection between true round nose, flat point round nose, and truncated cone for smooth loading. As a newbie I’m looking for suggestions for videos, books, or other resources covering these topics. Of course, personal advice from experienced shooters on the board is alsways welcome. I want to learn it right the first time and not have to UNlearn bad habits further down the road. Thank you.
  3. Loaded 115 Acme and 125 Blue Bullet with 4.8 Autocomp and CCI 500 primers based on the loads listed at Winchester reload data pages as starting point using 1.15 OAL and plunk tests. Tried both in G34 and G19 to be sure they feed and knock down steel targets. So far no FTF or FTE with small test groups of 100 rounds of each. Time to check velocities when I can borrow test gear from friend at my shooting club. I like the 125’s because they are close to duplicating my carry rounds.
  4. I have a pound of Autocomp left over from when I had a compensated pistol (now gone). I’d like to use it for practice in non-comp pistols. What’s the downside of using up this powder in a factory non-comp G34/G17/G19 with 145gr Acme RN coated bullet? Safety, excessive muzzle flash, other???
  5. There’s an article in Mar 2017 Shooting Sports USA blog about Ranson Rest testing of coated vs non-coated bullets that sounds like accuracy should be very good. I have my hopes up that they’re right.
  6. I'm retired after 50 years doing government security stuff and now shooting for fun. I last shot bullseye in 1968 on a base-level Air Force team - needless to say my skills are pretty rusty! My local gun club has fun matches that I participate in and I've been using lead wadcutters and semi-wadcutters for bullseye (now called precision shooting), and Distinguished Revolver, classed as a Grand Senior (translation: I'm really old). My old K38 leads badly despite heroic efforts to solve the problem, so I'm going to switch to coated Blue Bullets and see if that solves the problem of leading without losing any points on the target. They make a 147gr round nose that will replace the 148gr lead wadcutter, and a semi-wadcutter without a grease groove that will fit the bill for DR. I came here from the bullseyeforum. com to research these bullets and found a great community. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from the experts assembled here!
