Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. i searched, but did not find a follow up thread to this. Has anyone carried the torch forward on this?
  2. Dillon mailed the replacement punch and bracket but I haven’t installed yet as I’ve been out of town. I do believe though that there’s enough punch stroke still with that groove to fully seat the primer. I think I wasn’t fully forward stroking the handle the last couple thou roughly 5% of the time. ‘I will feel better about it though installing parts that don’t have that wear. Must’ve been softer than usual metal I guess. Thanks all
  3. So, I've been struggling with light strikes in only one of my guns, My P365. roughly 5-7% click no bang rate. I've been through the press and for those that don't happen to have one, there isn't an adjustment for primer seating depth. I measured the depth on some primers on rounds I had made a week or so ago and found it ranged from .001" to .008" primer depth. So, I'd be willing to bet that the 5 or 7 per 100 light strikes that I've been getting with my P365 was on the lesser depth primers as some have suggested here. Of course, Im willing to admit freely that most of the time when I've had issues with my press consistency, it can be attributed to consistent lever cycling by me. So, I took these 100 rounds that I sat and depth tested the primers on, and ran them back through station 2 only to see if I could seat them more deeply by using added force, above what I thought I'd normally use when in full progressive mode. I remeasured, and then took those to the range and they all ran through my P365 with zero light strikes or failure to fires. Looking even harder at my press, after the initial inspection to make sure everything was tight, I have found that the top of the support bracket that the primer seating punch is forced against to set the primer has objectionable wear. So my question for the Dillon 650 users is, do you have wear like this on yours? I suspect that the wear is a couple thousandths deep, but I'm not at home to actually measure it, so best I can do is ask if any of you have similar wear. I've already contacted Dillon for a replacement. The part number is # 13488

    P365 day 1

Picked up my p365 today and I have to say I hadn’t ever even held one before today but it exceeded my expectations in terms of performance. Less snappy than I’d have thought given its size, and I found that I could shoot it rather well and comfortably. I’ve got a warm up routine that includes running 5x5 drills, which I did right out of the box with this new gun. My best time through the course with my typical range gun (from low ready not holster due to range restriction) is 10.6 seconds. I achieved and average of mid 12 seconds with the p365 across 4 5x5 courses. My only initial feedback for sig is that for my hand/thumb size, I had difficulty with the mag release being “around the grip towards the front” but I’ll work that out.I had zero issues, and did not change how I approached the grip. If I was going to interfere with the slide lock with my natural grip, I wanted to know it.Have any right handed shooters of the 365 in here converted it to right side mag release? This was a good addition to my fleet and I recommend the gun for the every day carrier. This is my new edc.
  5. I run an anet A6, mostly stock except for the mosfets (2) and bed / hot end strain relief. Went looking for the dillon colored filament and they were out.
  6. Just picked up a sig mpx, 8” barrel pistol that I’ll SBR after my trust runs its course and as many have reported, wouldn’t run medium book loads. Had tried running 115 and 124 grain over 4.5 grains of hp38 (Hodgdon range is 4.3 to 4.8), but no go, wouldn’t cycle, fte, ftf. Had to run about 300 factory rounds through it to get it loosened up first. After the 30p rounds of factory blazer 115 Grn, (what my home range had on hand) it would run 115 grain over 4.8 grains of hp38 at 1.100 coal hand loads, 99% of the time. I brought it home after a blistering range run of 500 rounds of the 115 plated lead round nose /4,8grn/1.100 handloads and was amazed at how dirty the gun was, particularly around the gas valve and tappet. The tapped and valve were stuck nearly solid, carbon seemingly permanently infused to the parts. Upon later reading, seems that some advise against plated bullets in the mpx, so my question to my esteemed associates is, given the mpx platform mentioned, does anyone have successful post 700 round count handload recipe for an mpx that they’d like to share? Many thanks in advance,JR

  8. Would you you please link the material you bought on amazon that matched please?
  9. Okay, thanks for the input here. Ill likely run run without at first, ordered a camera tha5 I think will work well as a back up. Bullet feeder should be here in a few days. Thanks again
  10. Hello all, i am am using a Dillon 650, started with it roughly 4 or 5 months ago, reloaded roughly 5,000 rounds. i am considering using the double alpha mr. bullet feeder. My my question for you, if you use the 650 and this bullet feeder, were you able to retain the use of a powder checker by combining the seat/crimp station? i find it comforting to know that if I am not looking, that powder check is there to back me up. Also, if you would share your opinions on using the mr bullet feeder, I’d appreciate it. The good, the bad and the ugly are welcome! look forward to your thoughts, and thanks in advance.
