  1. When I was shooting iron sights (ten years ago), I got my optometrist to Rx an intermediate lens - for about 3-5 feet in front of me - the front sight was still sharp and the target was a little blurry - but good compromise. Many people here, with the same problem, have different Rx's for each eye - dominant eye is focused on the front sight and the non-dominant eye focused on distance. I've never tried that, but it sounds like it has merit. Good luck with it
  2. Great idea But, I still like to "see" the round in the chamber
  3. Wow. That's a new one on me ... I'm NOT an RO - never took the course because my hearing is pretty poor. BUT, I don't see how firing a gun and hitting the target is an AD. Sounds to me like she fired the shot just as soon as the gun was aiming at the target - that's what I try to do.
  4. I don't remember - it was about 11 years ago. My guess is that it was a loaded mag, that I was wiping because the RO was Extremely Knowledgeable - and a Very Nice Guy Fortunately, I bumped into him the day before the match, as I was scouting out the COF's and struck up a conversation with him - or I'm sure he would have DQ'd me (and I deserved it for the brain fade).
  5. The Multi-Gun matches are the only place I've seen both targets used on the same stage
  6. Personally, I'd stick with the 9mm, but to do BOTH major and minor, you'd want to load .40. .40 Minor is a very nice gun to shoot (soft) and .40 Major gets you max points in Limited. Always some downsides (.40 is lower mag capacity and more expensive to reload, etc).
  7. My first large match (cost me over $100 to attend - that's LARGE), I went to the table to wipe the C-More lens, and at the last second decided to clean one of my mags. BOOM. RO was all over me - very nice - he let me off with a warning - but then came back two or three more times to reinforce The Warning. I've NEVER mad that mistake again. As others have alluded above, WHY bring the mags ? Leave them somewhere else
  8. Thanks, again, Bill - appreciate the help. The best (actually the ONLY) price I got on a mag for the Llama was $49. So, the $42 is a welcome relief - tough enough spending $42 for a NewYork legal mag (10 rounds) for a .22, without spending $49.
  9. That's The Best Explanation of the subject that I've ever seen
  10. When I used to use liquid oil for lubrication, I had to clean my C-More lens after each stage Since I switched to Brian's Slide-Glide, I NEVER get my lens dirty, anymore
  11. Thanks, Flatlander, appreciate it. Looks good, so far. They said the Airlite mag is both out of stock and will NOT work in my gun, but the recoil spring probably will work So, thanks. You can always count on the BE universe to help out.
  12. If you have one, or know where I can buy one, pls let me know. Thanks, Jack Baldwin bv2@frontiernet.net
  13. If you have one you wish to sell, or know where I can get one, pls let me know. Thanks, Jack bv2@frontiernet.net
  14. I need a recoil spring and a magazine for a Llama Especial .22 semi-auto. Anyone have one they're willing to sell me ? Or, know where I can get one ? Thanks, Jack bv2@frontiernet.net
  15. You must be pretty young if you still think anything to do with a Gov't agency might make sense .... Do you still feel that is also "unfair" ?
  16. I can empathize. I started with my TruBor 11 years ago, and started shooting a major match with Remington green box 115 gr ammo at PF 127 Fortunately, I had a fellow club member who would sell 9mm Major ammo to us - and it was good stuff. He told me his load (at that time) was about 8 gr HS6 and a 115 gr MG JHP - so I bought a bunch and started reloading PF 145, and then PF 155 and within a pretty short period of time, I was loading PF 170. In the past 11 years, there has been published, here on BE, TONS of reloading data for 9mm Major. No more mystery, like there was 11 years ago. All the pioneering work has been done, and all YOU have to do is take one of the published loads, back off by 0.6 grains, watch your OAl, and work up Your Load for Your Gun slowly, carefully and with a chronograph. (Don't try this without the chrono - it's only $80) Be cautious you have the type gun (2011?) that is being discussed - if you have a Glock, then look for loads designed for Glocks. There are some esoteric loads that are slightly better for experts, but if you're new at reloading 9mm Major, I'd suggest you start with WAC or HS6 and 124 gr JHP bullets at 1.145" OAL or longer, depending on how Your Gun Plunks
  17. You don't mention what gun you're using. If it's plastic, you'll get "flatter" with a steel gun. Heavier the better (Plus the PF/comp thing mentioned above).
  18. If I could shoot 1st and 2nd in ANY Division, I'd stay there forever. One day you might get the itch to get a 2011 instead for Limited, or get into OPEN, but for now, I'd just stick where I'm winning. Good luck for your 5th match. BTW, if you're currently shooting factory .40, you might want to start reloading, or find factory .40 around PF 170 - 175. Lot of .40 factory is much higher PF.
  19. And, buy a LOT of bandaids. I took a 2-day course, and my hands were bleeding ... Cannot imagine 40 days.
  20. Not worth it to me - I used to shoot fmj's and they clogged up my comp. I stick with JHP's, period
  21. Do you need the 75's ? Shooting over 300 yards ? Lots of people shoot thousands of 55's for close range stuff and shoot hundreds of 75's for long distance. No advantage to a 75 for bay shooting. I don't see what state you're in, so I don't know if you're shooting long distance ???
  22. Have you tried any of it in your gun, and chrono'd it ?
  23. Same thing with loaded ammo - just have to try them in YOUR gun and see what it likes and doesn't like. You can find some of the steel ammo for 20 cents/round - tough to reload for much less. And, a good sale on brass ammo can come in at 25 cents/round.
  24. I'm new at this rifle thing, but what kind of customer service could you need on a hand guard ?
