Which magazines, basepads, springs & followers are you guys using for Shadow 1 or 2 in USPSA Carry Optics?

 

How many rounds are you getting?

Exactly this in my CZ Shadow 2 RSO. Fits in the gauge no problem. Works like a charm.

I also use the MecGar 17 rounders with Hennings + Grams.

I use CZ Custom pads and springs with MecGar 17s with SP-01s.

17 Rd Mecgars with Henning, Taran, or TF pads grams spring and followers will get you 23+1 no slide lock. I wish Walther Q5 mags were as easy

On my sp-01 I have springer precision basepads on the factory 18 rd, and the mecgar 17 rd mags. The 18 rd ones are slightly smaller, but I can load up to 23 and would get slide lockback when the springs were fresh. The 17 rds I can load to 22 but don't get lockback. I use the grams springs/followers as well.

 

My wife uses just the 17 rd mecgars with the springer basepads and grams spring/follower for her shadow 2.

 

Completely happy with them. I typically just load to 21 unless a stage plan works better with an extra round or 2.

Same for me as well, been 100% reliable over the last 3 seasons.

i use grams springs and followers. if you want to take advantage of the weight limit for CO, you can look at patriot tacticals brass basepads.

Most of the basepads are for 17 round Mecgars to make 140mm, CZ Custom offers basepads for the 16 and 18 round mags.

Question: are you supposed to keep the floor plates installed on the spring? Or just install the basepad on the spring directly?

Remove the base plate retainers and compress the spring into the tubes with your finger. Slide the extensions onto the lips, let the springs expand into the extensions. 
 

I’m using Mec-gar 17rd. mag bodies, Grams 11 coil spring/follower kits, Taylor Freelance extensions to get 23 rounds.

Are there any preferred magwells that work with mec gar 17rd tubes and henning basepads? Thinking about adding the magwell when I do 3 gun matches.

I use the extended base pads that came with the nickel mags....

 

 

And doing some fitting/filing on the legs of the follower, I get 20 rds whereas normally it's 19.  I think the Grams follower kits fit even more, but haven't tried.

Regardless of what you run, you may have some nose dive issues with it fully stoked out.  I tuned the lips and body but ultimately, it just took the springs to wear in.

I have a henning set that does, but likely not 100% of the time, I honestly don't go to slide lock very often or if I can avoid it.

 

I'm new to this, but from what I understand you want to plan your reloads when you're on the move somewhere. If you're shooting to slide lock you're either shooting IDPA, or you've made a mistake.

I totally understand not going to slide-lock, just curious if anyone has them working. They appear like they should work, but fall just a little short.

When I use to shoot CO and had a cz I was using gram springs and followers with taran tactical +5 base pads.  23 in the mag and reloadable.   I had a couple of mags I could squeeze 24 into them plus one in the pipe to start out on a stage with.

I use the hennings and grams combo as well. I had to file the front and rear of my followers to avoid feeding issues. They’d catch on the mag body and jam up. Something to be aware of.
