B_Seehawer
I prefer 2 - 2 1/2. I prefer a trigger that is gonna be dead reliable forever vs how light I can go.
Joe4d
Actually just bought a Lyman trigger gauge.. Did a Powder River drop in kit on my XDM,,, came in at 4lb 2 oz,,,Didnt do any polishing, Ordered some shims for it so may do some polishign when I open it back up. Havent checked my 1911 and 2011, but if that is a measured 4 I'd guess they are 2 lbs or so,, need to measure. Mine are all tool steel sears and hammers and I use the Ed Brown Jig and feeler gauge , like is simpler with the right tools.

Hopefully it lasts a long time.

CHA-LEE
To me the trigger pull weight isn’t as important as the depth, pre/over travel and sear push through feel. That being said my optimal 1911/2011 overall trigger pull weight is 2lb 4oz.
mvmojo
My Steel Master is right at 2 lbs and I'm working to get it a little lower. Would like to get it to 1.5 lbs or less and still keep it safe!
S&W686
My Open Gun has a 2.5lb trigger pull. My JP GMR-15 has a 4lb trigger pull (red spring) and most of my other guns which I use for IDPA are between 3.5 and 5lbs.
jim vaughan
1.5 lb for my open 2011 using a 19lb mainspring. This gives a much better feel than the lighter pulls using 15 or 17lb mainsprings.

SWprotected
My open guns are set at 1lb 4oz, I have plenty of rounds on both with no issues with reliability. I do put an eye on the sear when I tear them down for cleaning to make sure everything looks good. 1.5-2lbs really not that much difference just have to have good trigger discipline. MNshooter
Just under 2lbs is usually the balance point with ease of shooting and reliability. Below that and sear springs can drift enough in tension to cause hammer follow. It’s not the $90 hammer or the $30 sear that causes the issue it’s the $6-30 spring that causes changes that creates the problem. I like mild creep at just under 2lb, because it pulls straighter than a 1.5lb “glass” breaking trigger for me.^^^^this. Hammer follow sucks but the 1# pull was fun when it worked! 2 to 2.5 now, very happy and very reliable.

kneelingatlas
I learned to compete with a 47gr trigger in an Olympic rapid fire pistol (yes that's 1.6oz) so there's no trigger too light for me, but most of my Open guns are 1.5-2.5lbs. In the end, the better your control over your trigger finger, the less it matters.

Did you do anything to lighten the TSO? Normal seems to be in the 1.5-1.75 lb range.
Chillywig
I'm pretty sure I could shoot a 1.5 or 4 lb trigger at the same rate of fire but the shots will group better with the lighter trigger.
