  1. I use a paddle that's 3/8 wide x 5/8 long, mounted parallel to the bore line. It fits between my fingers, and I use an extra power mag catch spring. Never have dropped a mag unintentionally.
  2. Whittle away, I'd get another trigger housing first though.
  3. My barrel likes 25.5 grains of H335, under either Hornady V Max, or Nosler Ballistic Tips. Mine is the LT contour. It shoots well enough that Rocky Mountain 3 Gun targets only require one squeeze per steel out to 550 yards.
  4. Kind of like short stroking? Did you make any changes at all recently?
  5. I posted pictures in the general gunsmithing forum in the not too distant past. A search would be in order. STI mags work just fine in the mildly modified frame.
  6. Vortex makes long eye relief eyepieces for a couple models, as does Kowa. My experience is with Kowa, when I shot High Power. Both companies make good products.
  7. I shoot He Man and shot Heavy at FN last year, no more than 10 rounds are allowed in the mag in heavy metal / He Man.
  8. 1911, since I have one, and didn't want to go through putting another top end on one of my other guns, and buy more mags.
  9. It would have been more interesting only the bolt carrier had been changed. Same scope, barrel, gas system.
  10. Standing on 12 inch plates at 200 and 300 when I get the opportunity to "practice".
  11. SV can answer the question for their product. I have a couple STI mags with Bolen guts, and they will take one more round, the springs feel like they need to be replaced every other match. Grams springs have been running for several years with no issues. I'd go with Grams. Taran puts out some quality products, I would give his stuff a try with no hesitation.
  12. The bushing diameter is 5/32, I don't recall the length. The button head screws are 4-40 X 1/8 long.
  13. I normally shoot my 6 inch .40 for 3 gun, but will shoot an M&P 9L for some local stuff. The .40, I use my 180 Bayou with 4.6 of Titegroup. It's right around major. The 9L will be over 135 power factor. Honestly, you won't notice the hotter load when the timer goes off, and you will knock the steel over. I have worked the last 4 FN 3 Gun matches, I have seen poppers not go down because the shooter thought it was a 3 GN match. He had to hit a popper at about 10 yards 3 times before it went down. Oh, and it did fall with 1 shot of American Eagle from said 9L.
  14. One of the tricks the Highpower shooters did was take a taper reamer and make the transition from the factory angle into the drop tube less pronounced, then take some 400 grit paper and smooth it all out. Then, remember you are not loading pistol, it takes time for all the powder to drop into the case.
  15. Only with Federal? Your description sounds more like a high primer. If it happens with all brands, then I'd look at the gun. Were any of the Federal low cost shells?
  16. I shoot He Man, RM3G and FN for major matches. A local club shoots out to 300 with a roof and prone. I found it easier to move my head forward while standing. But, I'm just an old, slow guy.
  17. Your stock is the reason for eye relief issues. Especially when prone. Set your scope while prone as your head position is not so movable as it is while standing.
  18. The thrower on that stage did not cycle fast enough. We would press the button several times before it would throw. Popper activated Clay Kickers would give a consistent target for all the shooters, far more consistent than flippers.
  19. Best wishes for you Tom. What you're going through would be the end of a lesser man. Good luck finding another doctor.
  20. I think the metal follower is a Nordic. The Nordic spring will feel softer than the Remington spring, but, probably work better. When you install the spring, make sure you turn the ends down and in, so they don't drag on the mag tube, or the cap for the tube.
  21. What is the best food items for 3 gun? What is the best after match beverage? Rimfire 3gun, best ammo?
  22. A little heat from the inside of the frame.
  23. That comment almost made me spray some perfectly good alcohol all over my monitor.
  24. The solution is simple, buy a CNC machining center, spend time with the design and toolpath, add in finishing, hardware and packaging to sell to a very small market. Undercut MGM by 25%, you'll sell hundreds, maybe.
