  1. The CMC trigger should work just fine, particularly with ammo with Berdan primers.
  2. I hope this not a one off run of the match. I never made it to Soldier of Fortune, but a friend attended a few, with nothing but good things to say.
  3. This is how I do it, the muzzle stays down as I loosen the VTac sling and pull the sling over my head. I'm slow, and have no illusion on being at the top of the results.
  4. That's how a lot of us in the northeast feel when we see so many matches in the south / southwest part of the country. Sigarms Academy would be an awesome place for a NE / New England 3 gun match. Sigarms has cut way back on matches being run there. I'm not sure if any are being run at all.
  5. That's how a lot of us in the northeast feel when we see so many matches in the south / southwest part of the country.
  6. You need a very long punch to get the roll pin all the way through. My Starrett punches are not long enough, with about 3/4" of straight diameter. I took a 5/64" allen wrench, cut the short arm off of it and use that to get the roll pin all the way through to the ejection port.
  7. There really isn't an optimal barrel length. My M2 is a 21", my Super Nova is a 26". I did order the M2 some years ago, and would probably get a 24" now. I only run a 10 round extension, as I didn't like the feel of a 12 round.
  8. It's been a while since I shot Hi Power. Targets may not be scaled exactly for distance reduction, but, again they may be. It is possible that they are slightly smaller to increase the wind affect. Google for target sizes, rules, etc. The CMP is a good place to start for information, as well as the NRA competitions.
  9. It is a fun match. I really enjoy shooting at the Whittington Center. I've shot them all so far.
  10. It's short on the Versa Max. A friend of mine tried it on his Versa Max and was not happy with it.
  11. Yes, where you come from is up to you. I find that for me about 7 o'clock is what "naturally" occurs.Would the method be the same for trying to clear a plate rack at distance? Why do 3 gunners take a forward facing stance rather than a typical bullseye type stance when shooting the rifle?Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk My guess is that the targets are not in one spot, as it is in Highpower. Natural Point of Aim kind of goes out the window when the targets are spread out.
  12. Hurley, Have you shot the He Man match yet? More people are at least shooting this one each year. Maize was on my squad this year. She's a very good representative for future shooters.
  13. Back to the Oracle. My rifle started life as a Mass compliant Oracle. I don't like short gas systems, so, replaced the barrel and handguard before a shot was fired from it. It now sports a 20 inch Rainer Arms Select barrel, JP handguard and a comp I make myself. The trigger is a CMC. Well, the stock is now a Luth adjustable. It's an evolving project, but the Oracle as a starting point will get you putting ammo down range.
  14. Kelly, I plan on it for HeMan and Rocky Mountain.
  15. Mike will give solid advice Maize. It'll probably be more costly than the Oracle though.
  16. Not that I can think of. Most places have minimum lot charges, whether it's one piece or 50. The other thing it's from an 80% lower, with no serial # on it.
  17. You can Cerakote over anodize, but, it must be blasted for adhesion, not the other way around. This is according to Cerakote's application instructions.
  18. Anodize will probably take more abuse, and to Cerracoat over it won't last. I've seen it done, and it turned me off on Cerracoat, till I've seen some done properly. Cerracoat does give a lot of options as far as colors and patterns.
  19. The blast cabinet is cheap. The compressor needed to feed it, not so much. Add in the possibility of adding a 220 outlet for it.
  20. I too have a Clark carbon fiber tube on one of my AR's. The nut portion is aluminum, with the tube joined with epoxy. The JP has an aluminum part, that is loctited to the upper receiver, with a steel retainer that threads into the aluminum part. If there is thermal drift with either, you'd probably need a scope with bench rest type magnification (36X+) to see it.
  21. Vlad, I don't fight the future when it makes sense. I can operate a CNC, am on Facebook, my truck has a twin turbo 6 cylinder, and fuel injection is good. I also can cut threads on an engine lathe, have the knowledge to swage jacketed bullets, cast bullets and size and lube them. I do prefer in real words for the most part though. Used to be all the abbreviations were limited to government agencies, and not everyday communication. I guess I'm getting to be a curmudgeon. See you at a match in the spring, I'm sure.
  22. Nope, not lazy, just don't see an advantage to some of what you do. Old farts? Well, there is that possibility. You'll get there soon enough my friend!
