  1. I had carpal tunnel surgery done 9/14. I guess I didn't let it go way to long, my fingers would get numb while driving, constantly moving my hand, shaking it, etc. for the better part of a year. Moderate Carpal Tunnel the neurologist said. The surgeon was a hand specialist, I guess I was in the O.R. under an hour, I don't remember a thing. A few weeks out of work and it's been good since. I guess if you knew what to look for, you could see where the incision was. Procedures have changed a lot of the years. I think some of it now is more on the preventative side to keep the degradation to a minimum. You may want to see a hand specialist rather than a surgeon that will do the surgery. Sorry if this messes up the Hate Forum rules.
  2. I tried to help you out. There are people that have better skills than I do on this kind of thing.
  3. Look at the Vortex Viper PST line. Or, the Burris XTR2 scopes, They will be around $1K.
  4. Target Sports USA has Blazer Brass for $299.80, shipped.
  5. A small percentage of extra performance. I've been running a mildly modified M2 for around 6 years. It will run Fiocchi 1150 fps slugs and anything I've put through it. The bolt has not been modified (Kurt said light loads don't like light bolts), I polished the trigger some, beveled the loading port, 10-22 rear sight, deburred the extractor cut, bolt release button, and have a modified lifter. I modified the lifter I had welded to the way I liked it. I was told it is close to the old M1 lifter, it has a 1/4" radius cut in the front edge, rather than the long, bent version.
  6. It won't introduce tension in the steel. It can release stresses though. If the bore concentricity with the outside diameter is good, it should not be an issue. Bores are seldom perfectly straight, but some cheap barrels can be off quite a bit. Small cuts that won't overheat the barrel is the best technique, flood coolant is a plus. That said, I would turn the things down to what you want and shoot them. I've turned some down, and machined my own from blanks, all with no issue.
  7. I'm no pro, but, Southern Bloomer is the way to get to being a pro, I've heard.
  8. That's a better milestone than 100,000 miles on a car for sure!
  9. Living at more than 6000 feet less of elevation, I needed more than 1 shot on paper. Damn, there's no oxygen in Raton. Well a lot less anyway.
  10. I use the Brownell's 3 gun bag, the 48" as it fits into my SKB hard golf club case for flying. It's not the cheapest by any means, but will hold 2 long guns and has a pistol insert for one of the 3 side pockets. They do have a longer version.
  11. The biggest reason to load your own is the ability to tailor ammo to the match, or stages. At FN last year I used ammo with 125 Speer TNT and Sierra 135 Match Kings. The Speer bullets shoot very well and are very reasonably priced for the paper and stages 200 yards or so. Stages with longer shots get the ammo with the 135 Sierra Match King bullets. The 135's work for me out at He Man with targets out to 600 yards. The load was the same at 49.5 of Alliant 2000 MR.
  12. Gerry, as I stated, I think the slightly smaller bullets, that are also bimetal just don't get the proper grip/spin on the polygon barrel. The conventional rifled barrel has sharper edges that will bite into the bullets and give them the proper amount of spin. With pistols we can use cheap bullets and get away with it. If you want small groups with a rifle you need quality bullets.
  13. It should come out with the stock mounted. It may take a bit of manipulation though.
  14. Simply don't load 24 shells in the rig, or, remove a couple of the shell holders. You may find yourself at a match that you will want all the shells you can carry, or maybe even more. (Rocky Mountain 3 Gun comes to mind.)
  15. Loki went out a couple years ago.
  16. Kurt, I think your experience (age) is lost on some people.
  17. Southwest agents have held to the 50 pounds when I fly. I use the golf club case for guns. Ammo gets shipped, everything else goes with me. I check 2 bags (free) and take a back pack with me that will have my rangefinder, camera, and other things that will put the checked bags over weight. I do have a baggage scale with me too.
  18. I'd look at a chrome lined Criterion barrel.
  19. Are those bullets bi-metal? I wonder if they are, along with being slightly undersize, they don't get a good grip by the polygon rifling.
