  1. Brownell's has a group of apprentice gunsmiths that aren't charging labor, just parts. Trying to grow that part of the business. Guy named Jay was at a local match this past weekend passing the word. If you're interested, I think they'd enjoy small jobs from the stuff he was taking about.
  2. I wouldn't have guessed bbi to have that much variance. I haven't used them before though. I'm sure someone here has and has since good baseline load data for their CZ.
  3. Plunk to get max OAL, then try a plunk and spin with a finished round. Looked at both your threads and it sounds like you're 1.125" with 147gr lead flat nose? It's all about the bullet profile. And it looks like there's some variation in your bullets. If stick with the shortest measurement.
  4. Olympics are next summer. He's just warming up for a week and a half of non stop talking!
  5. Yes. I had similar results between my CZ TS 5.1" and CZ P01 3.9", about 50-60 FPS less if I recall. And I was running 128PF for the TS, so I bumped up my load for dual use. The added recoil in the TS isn't really noticeable.
  6. I stink at single stack and really wanted to shoot it this weekend. Alas, I'm not able to attend at all! Please post all the fun you're having!!
  7. Under a month out, how's the total competitor count per division look? Any more spots open and on which days?
  8. Yes, agreed. We've done some local pistol carbine side matches, and some people just needed the excuse to go but another toy. New divisions and equipment needs is big business. I'm surprised the organization isn't being pushed by manufacturers to open up avenues to sell more stuff like this (especially with recent releases of stuff like CZ scorpion, Sig mpx, etc.).
  9. I got my P09 from Stuart, he'd stippled the back strap and grip tape on the front strap. Works great! See the pic he took attached.
  10. Try the thumb under the hammer and roll it out technique. Either way, that small step to make ready is probably the most important. I've done the hammer slip myself in practice. Stings a bit, and my ego took a few minutes to recover too!
  11. I use CR speed and the are worth $30 per pouch. A small washer behind the Caspian spacer gets the fit perfect.
  12. Agree with this - I'm thinking less about fine motor movement (learned in dry fire) and more about visualizing the feet movement, body index and front sight tracking. I'm still working on a better body index for the first shot...spending too much time searching for the front sight.
  13. Highly recommend Dan Wesson. I've got two and they run great. Contact keith@cz-usa.com and he can give you options on a semi custom build in your price range. I've been very impressed with their duty black finish. Lots of mag reloads and barely any significant marks on the magwell.
  14. That looks like some fun!! Don't think I've seen a match with that many long stages (I haven't been around that long though)... Better crank up the reloader and make some more 45's!
  15. Anyone have comments on the rts2 vs sts?
  16. Curious how the anodized magwell will hold up - keep us posted!
  17. If you are able, highly recommend doing a wider range. For uspsa matches movement laterally really makes for a great and challenging stage. I shoot a local indoor range with 9 lanes so we can usually get 16 targets (groups of 4's) for one stage. Lots of good ideas above too. Getting a local club to host matches there will really bring in business. Stock reloading supplies and some competition gear. We spend a lot of money on that stuff!!
  18. I think I need to come shoot with you guys one of these days!
  19. I'm finding a lot of female shooters in our local high school trap teams. One of my friend's daughters placed very high at the state championship. Practical pistol is much more daunting for male or female new shooters. I'd say the gender ratio in our local uspsa clubs is the same as what I've seen in bowling and pool leagues. Volleyball leagues are even more male than female in my area. When the ladies do shoot with us, usually one or two out of twenty shooters pet match, they are just another competitor I'm trying to beat! On the rare occasion they aren't there, there is more locker room talk from the guys... but in sure that's the same for anywhere!
  20. Just go to limited or single stack, much better trigger reach. I find the p09 has the shortest reach for a production non striker gun.
  21. Not the CZ Custom magwell? So the czechmate magwell? Check the mainspring plug. The CZ UB had a side mounted set screw if I recall. But my money is on the mainspring plug... it can be very very hard to depress enough to get the magwell off.
  22. +1, with the red dot the sight radius advantage goes away. Just need to make sure your PF stays above 125 with the shorter barrel. CZ compact with the steel frame or the P-01 with the aluminum frame and rail w/ decocker could be polished to run just like the full size guns. Shorter grip may make reloads challenging for those with beefy palms getting pinched. But it sure would transition quick!
  23. OK, I totally want to do a red dot on the P09 now. What are my options to mount without milling? I prefer the cmore rts2 but have never had a good red dot sight before.
