  1. If it is primarily on one side or half the case you are not getting the case into the shell holder all the way and the case is going in at a very slight angle as you raise the ram
  2. Redding GRX die especially if its range brass or at a match were you usually get some of whatever is on the ground. But I sold all the plastic guns and run all 1911 match bbl's that are tighter than the M&P's and glocks. The SIg will burp once in a while with the bulged brass. So I run it all thru the GRX
  3. I got 1 pound 4.2 ounces per 100 once fired range brass. Just did a swap with a guy for 40 brass "case for case" So that's 12lbs 10 ozs. if I can multiply correctly in my head per 1000
  4. Got the old Mdl 15 out and installed a spring kit and basic go over everything etc etc. It's an old 15 4 screw pinned barrel still works great. Grips are target diamond pattern and appear to be the originals so I don't want to shave them down with the wood rasp to let the speed loader get clearance. This is going to be just for fun so want to keep price of grip reasonable but need a set that comp 3 speedloaders will clear. whats being used out there at a reasonable cost? thanks jcc7x7
  5. WSF cost effective alternative to VV powders No flash for low light stages low standard deviations Soft push in hand-- very subjective meters well has been consistent for me with in a 30 degree temp swing fairly available I'm running 4.7 grs with either 124 HAP's or MG's, 4.3 with 124/125 bayou's or now SnS gold which I'm told is the same coating Bayou uses just a different color. Hope this helps by the way I've used all the other over the last 38 years and they work well also. I just settle in on WSF
  6. Dawson Ice No Gap on my main 45 SS gun. No problems this season with it both in Dry fire, Live Fire and Matches. I used a dremel and made a very light cit in the no gap plastic insert for the no gap base pad to slide i a little easier. It would load with what I felt was extreme pressure. I'm using Wilson 47D mags with the Wilson no Gap base pads. No failures after the little tuning/fitting of insert. I have regular Ice Gap inserts in 4 other guns, oviously I like them and trust them for match use Still run S&A on my carry guns
  7. Take a look at the Single Stack guys. Major is 8 in the mag , minor is 10. Everybody I know shoots major and lives with the reloads as needed. Remember everybody else in YOUR CLASS has the same problem. If you shoot mostly A's then go with the little gun. If as things heat up and you get excited you start dropping some A's into the C zone you might really like the Big Gun. I shot a match where they scored me major and came in first. that day I shot my 9mm (minor 1911) so I called the match director and told him and he rescored me and I wound up in 3rd so major points do make a difference and the larger the stages/match the points there are to lose shooting minor. I'm staying with my 625 for revolver class Good fortune with your decision
  8. Just hooked a 686 SSR and some stuff with it. What is the "Standard Load" for the 38spl. Will be using speed loaders so I can use it in idpa I figure some round nose bullet but I haven't shoot a 38spl since the days of 2.8grs of bullseye with a 148 DEWC.
  9. I run a Para and STI 2011. I can run the STI at 1.200 the Para at 1.180. I've started loading everything at 1.180. No problems both loads shoot same POI and feel the same. Chrono is with in 7fps. So I don't think it matters what oal you use as long as its safe with that powder short and it feeds in the gun!!!
  10. This came up at area 7 on the standards cof (merle's standards) per john armidon you can draw the gun, cock the hammer and fire your 1st shot single action. you have to decide if it is worth it time wise. on a 45 yard shot the time difference after much practice(drawing and cocking) was irreverent . Hits were slightly better than a slow smooth DA shot but not much Summary: practice you DA shot a lot both near and far. Learn to watch your frt sight at trigger break so you know where the shot went and do a follow up if necessary!!!
  11. Has anyone used CLAYDOT the powder that is supposed to be a direct replacement for CLAYS. I have not but sure would like to know if it works in a handgun like they say it will work in a shotgun???????
  12. The bulleyes, bulleyes crowd that I know. You know the guys who shoot one handed at a circle target and make me feel foolish cause their groups are smaller than mine shooting two handed! tend to use 4.0 grains or less with a 200 grain SWC lead. that load seems pretty soft and very accurate
  13. Might have been said already but you're shooting plated and the info is LEAD. Generally lead is faster per grains of powder than plated or jacketed
  14. 4.0 TG 125 MT Gold or Horn. HAP makes Pf in my 1911's, sig 226 and glock 17. I used to change oal for each pistol now I load them all for the the shortest gun. i.e. the glock needs 1.065 to run so now they all get it so I don't have to change things. But figure out what OAL your gun needs and go from there. the longer the OAL usually the more powder required. we're talking tenths of grains
  15. 4.0 TG 125gr MT Gold. PF 130 = or - OAL based on gun/mag after your basic load is working for power factor, next thing to do is deal with recoil springs for function of gun and shoot ability for the individual shooter. I've shot Sigs for years and still hit the slide stop with regularity!
  16. All the places I used to use 231/hp38 I now use WST. (different powder charge weights!!!!!) i.e not interchangeable just have changed over to WST as it seems more efficient, cleaner etc. I look at it as the modern replacement of 231/hp38. I look at univ. clays as the modern replacement of unique. again not grain for grain replacement just a newer replacement that is just as versatile
  17. 3.9grs Clays, 1.255 COL with Bayou 230. At home it chrono'd 170 PF with SNS 230 gr bullets. At Area 7 it chrono'd 178 our of a DW 1911 auto. either way you will have to chrono it out of your gun. Bayou's are slicker so they tend to run a little quicker out of my guns. Really like them. clean reloading and very little smoke shooting and good accuracy. Enjoy your revo.
  18. I've had problems with variations in OAL when seating die was full of lead debris. Same with crimp die. Clean everything out, have shell plate full and adjust to 1.250 with a 200 SWC (i.e H&G 68 profile) and they should run fine
  19. Ive used aa7, universal, wsf, unique, bullseye with 147 and 160 gr lrn in 9mm and 38 super. its easier to get them to run and be accurate the 160's in the super. The 160 need to run about 800 fps for power factor and so they stabize
  20. Ball end cuts! stop them just before the top of the slide. gives a real sharp look and very different at this time anyhow! soon I'm sure we'll see alot of them.
  21. Ask your friend if you can invest in another grip. if he ok's it . Spend the money for the grip and contour it down to fit you or get one that is already reduced as much as possible from one of the guys to supplies grips that way. got one for the wife that way. Sorry forgot where we got it.
  22. I use Dawson Para Toolless base pads on my 126mm STI mags. They fit and go into any kind of magwell I've tried them in. They don't follow the angle of the mag the same. but does not give any problems loading. i use them in a limited ten gun with a nylon plug in the base pad so I don't make a mistake and load 11 in the mag and get myself in trouble with the RO.
  23. Prior to M&P Core. I milled the rear of my M&P slide to fit a Leupold Delta Point sight and carried it everyday for 2 years. Shot lots of local defense matches with it from my "carry" holster not my blade-tech/Comp-Tech holster. Then sold it to a friend of mine with acute vision problem and he carries it every day in an IWB holster that he carried his regular M&P in. He has now equipped his two other m&p's with Delta Points. Again because he can use the guns again and enjoy shooting and feel more confident carrying because as he says it. "I can hit what I'm shooting at, cause I can see my sight again." Glad IDPA put in the local match provision. lets face it the great majority never go to big shoots or the nat's. So they can shoot and still enjoy comparing there scores against their friends etc. I shoot ESR and always look at how I compared to the CDP and ESP guys. "For what its worth!"
  24. I will start lower thanks for the input Semper Fi
