  1. Load them interchangeably with SM pistol MAG, and use them all the time as they are easier to get in my area.
  2. 200 gr bayou RN, 4.2 grs WST, COL 1.190 171-177 PF depending on gun No problems with temp sensitive from 16 to 60 degrees. Always with in "1" PF I'm in Western (upstate) NY
  3. buy it in 4 or 8 lbs when possible or the same lot 1 lb cans again if possible. I find 4756 to be very stable. used it in my 40 for several years and never had a problem making PF . Base load was at 171 PF it never was more or less that 1 point different. BUT Chrono test yourself. next couple of months is a great opportunity jcc7x7
  4. Glenn at lone Star Innovations is a great guy to deal with and is building up short blocks now
  5. Common sense fellows. the best in the world tend to shoot sight tracker guns, you know those grand master guys and masters in uspsa. Dan Bedell considered to be the best or at least one of the best builders for the pro's in uspsa doesn't say anything about his sight trackers losing accuracy. I'm with SV-COP on this one I call "BULL" but I would go conventional slide on a fun gun/ CCW/home defense like the OP said he wanted to build now lets help (maybe) Contact some one like Bob Serva at fusion and talk to him he can give you an idea what a frame slide barrel assy. that is fitted will cost. there are lots of other guys too, so do your research and figure who you want to use. I've used Bob and not had any problems FWIW I think Ganns's guns still has a list ,on his website, of a parts list. Which if you've never built a gun before that is a great help so you don't forget stuff and have to keep ordering little things and paying extra shipping. Good fortune with the build and go slow and put the dremel tool away
  6. small rifle in all semi auto's, cause most of the makers say that small pistol mag and small rifle are the same. that seems to bear witness over the chrono. Plus I don't have to search high and low for several different primers in todays crazy supply problem's
  7. Sm rifle primers here Used to be that most of the makers told us that sm pistol mag and rifle are the same primer. That seems to bear witness over the chronograph in my open and production guns. I don't mess with two different primers any more due to the supply problems we have these days. When I can get sm pistol they go in the revolvers, other wise it's small rifle in everything well over 30-40 k in sverel different pistols no problems, good SD over chrono, no breech face problems. Shoot em!!!!!!
  8. Use LEE FCD on my 9mm's and Bayou's with no problem As stated earlier you may want to bell the case a little more BUT not to much. Seems belling it to much causes more of the coating to come off. Not sure why. My dies are set the same for the bayou's or Montana Gold/HAP's
  9. Same as I do at the start of any smaller stage. 140 mm mag full and a round in the chamber. So I'm using the same loading sequence as every other time I shoot a stage. Helps make te classifier "just another stage". Follow your routine
  10. 4.2 WST, 200 gr Bayou, 1.190 171 PF low SD forget what it was I've tested it over the chrono in 0 degrees 16 degrees and 45-48 degrees and it runs the same FPS avg within a FPS every time. YEs I leave the ammo in the temp. for several hours before chrono'ing it!
  11. Thinking the same and they seem to be more available lately! Thanks for the input
  12. Been shooting 124 MG's for 3 years or so now. Never tried plated in 38 SC at major PF, last time I shot plated was about 5 years ago out of 9mm and 45 acp and couldn't get them to group changed crimp etc no good in my book BUT figure you should look at things again ever few years What's the thought on extreme and other plated bullets in 38 SC at major velocity. been using 7625 and Auto Comp. thoughts appreciated
  13. Like some have said == Get your power factor THEN Go to the bench and get a real good rest and a very clear (for your eye) target and set it up at 25 yds. I use a know load to establish a standard then fire 2 to 5 groups of ten or 8 if 1911 45acp at look at the groups I want them to be in the end of a coke can. or at worst 4"'s relative accuracy starts with gun and load combo from a solid rest. Again if the gun doesn't run on your load or met power factor accuracy is a moot point Confidence comes when you know your gun load combo are accurate. Then you work on yourself to stop the misses / delta (-3) shots
  14. Temp Sensitive _ I leave the ammo in my trunk the whole day prior to shooting it in the winter. The stuff is cold when I pick it up do I use a thermometer no. read what the dial says on my cell phone and know that the sun is not changing the truck temp at 20-35 Degrees During spring and summer I leave it in the house and then go to range and let it sit out for an hour or so prior to chrono work. Does not seem to be a problem from Level 2 and 3 matches that chrono'd from march thru Sept appox 35 to 85 degrees
  15. 230 gr round nose feed in most everything AND any good 200 H&G style semi wadcutter will feed at 1.250 COL . Very rarely in a decent gun will they give you problems 5.6 of 231 was a pretty standard load for ipsc for years, you can go lighter now since the PF is lower now
  16. Bayou's round nose 200 shoot great 180 TC's very accurate with wst or 4756
  17. WST if you can find it works great at 1.190 Clays as long as you can load in your chamber and work up very safely
  18. WSF for any 9mm up to 147 Nice push instead of snap but quick enough to make the slide work nicely. Also for the IDPA dark (flash light ) stages usually NO muzzle flash to deal with Hodgdon's website is a great place to start with load info and your chronograph will tell you when you've reached your PF I load to 130 up 140 because the gun runs better there and my splits on drills is quicker with the 140 load than the 130 load. But that is up to the person holding the pistol Good fortune
  19. been shoot 4.8 WSF for years with MG or HAP jackets use 4.4-4.6gr with lead bullets and Bayou coated 124/125 bullets. Chrono to make sure but 1.8 seems to get a good margin of error in all my 9's
  20. 7.3 gr AC with MG 124 HP makes 166 PF pretty good SD if you don't go out of your area much I run 7.5 to have margin of error and the gun runs better there (flatter)
  21. 200 gr Bayou 4.2 WST 177 PF (going back down to 4.1 =171 PF) COL 1.190 SD 10 NOT Repeat Not temp sensitive over my chrono
  22. Never had any problem going back and forth between HAP and MG. Seems like which ever one I can get at the time is what I shoot. Mg's are alot more available in my area now though.
  23. Dawson first. Then EGW with the frt. drilled through. EGW sights are not drilled all the way through. I find it easier to replace the FO rod and I believe the rod is brighter with the frt open
  24. S&B have gone bang in every 1911/2011 I've used them in. all have 17lbs or 18 lbs main springs. SD and ES seem good with them over the Chrono. I'm using Win at the SS nationals, S&B for local matches and when I can't find Win/ cci or fed, i.e normal primers
