    sig 226 basepads

I bought some high density rubber and cut them to shape and punched a hole through so I could still disassembe them and glued them on with Gel super glue. They've been on for over a year.
  2. Does any one know if a Kimber 22 conversion will work with the STI 22magazine or soes it only work with the STI conversion??
  3. I've found their inventory to be "pretty much" live. Both my orders went through and they called today to say it was shipping. Think its good customer service that they called and said the order didn't go through for "cecil" up above. Might keep an eye out and try again. I looked tonight and titegroup is out of stock GOOD FORTUNE to all
  4. Me and alot of guys in my area use SR 7625, start at 7.0 gr and work up till you get to PF. I use s rifle primers either federal or Win. load is real flat shooting and very stable from west Texas to upstate NY it makes the PF over the chrono with out any changes. I buy in 8lbs kegs and check each new lot of powder. BUT I do that with any powder I use when I get or open a new can. Just makes sense and it only takes a few minutes at the range.
  5. Neat part about reloading is that we can try all sorts of combo's and see what works best. I shoot 147 lead with WSF,AA5 and Universal all of them work at the right velocity 850 or more seems to be the spot. It also happens to be whare 125 PF is appox. Keep experimenting (safely of Course) and find what works in your gun the best. Then you can know cause you know that its tuned just for you good fortune
  6. I don't trim it . $0 S&W made into 357 SIg will be to short. This is a cartridge that is being beat up by people on the interweb that IMO must have limited reloading experiance. It loads fine, use a set of good dies, reading,RCBS, Lee with factory crimp dies as your final stage and you will not have any problems. I load it for 2 different SIGS a 239 my EDC, and a 226 my fun range gun, this gun also has a 40 S%W barrel, sights have to be adjusted because the 257 SIg is so much faster it hits about 5"'s lower than the 40 I agree the safest way to go is with astout but in spec with the books load of AA9, not only does it shoot great it supports the bullet. I slos load a light load with unique that is about like a regular 9mm load. that's my fun / match load. I use it for IDPA SSP
  7. if memory serves crimp is 369 or 370. COL will depend on mag length first then chamber length/ take the barrel out load a round and do a drop test into the barrel if it seats at or slightly below the hood you should be good to go. Load up a few 10 or 20 and function test them and go from there
  8. I shot 160 gr lead back in the day when an "open" gun was a "SIngle stack 38super with a comped Clark barrel and a set of good BoMar sights!!! Wow have things changed. I shoot AA7 back then I don't remember the charge wgy.
  9. 6.3 grs , 180 HAP bullet, 173 pf.. very soft shooting and nice accuracy Load info from hodgdons site
  10. Encourge you to get some different brass. Change your firing pin spring. you should clean out your firing pin hole any how as some brass may have blown back through there also. the only time that has ever happened to me was a double charge BUT that was loud and very heavy recoil. Very glad everyone is OK. It took me a week of shooting 22lr before I could shoot a 45 with out snatching the trigger!!!!!
  11. My STI shoots any thing I put in it. I do load to 1.250 SWC and 1.265 LRN they all run. Good fortune
  12. Thanks again for all the help. The solution is all of the above regarding how to limit mag. As long as the mag holds ten and is "permanent" its all good. We all no nothing is permanent BUT the idea is you just can't have a "duck Plug" in the mag like the arredondo that comes out when the base pad is taken off. The unless is if the base pad is screwed on the powers to be feel that will pass the test of "permanent" GOD bless Texas thanks y'all
  13. Universal can be used in pistols. Soft shooting but I find it smokey. Never used International Clays works great in 45 with 200 or 230 bullets nice soft shooting and clean burning. I believe that Hodgdon is calling them Universal, International and Clays to simplify things. i.e. leaving the word clays off of international and universal There is lots of load data on their wed site
  14. Guys THANKS for the ideas and the help and NOT turning it into another political debate. we All know it SUCKS. My idea Nylon plug appox 3 inches long. Trimmed down to fit inside of mag Spring shortened to allow 10 rounds and some space to making loading easy without allowing the eleventh round Secure plug to Dillon base pad. Use the method that meets the legal requirement in your area. This seems Ok with the authorities here. Self admittiedly they don't know either. Their answer was if it only holds 10 I don't care how you do it!!!! Not very comforting but the way I'm going at this point Again thanks, hope to keep thread going to hear from some of the folks from Canada again thanks to all jcc7x7
  15. I'm told the guys in Canada pin their 170 mags to keep them legal at home. how do y'all do this? Need to pin mine for about a year while I'm in NY. then I'll go from there when I go back home to TX thanks
  16. most of the guys I know shooting CDP or uspsa Single stack use 230gr lead rd with 3.9-4.0 gr of Clays. Seems the recoil impluses is soft but fast enough to get you sights back on target quick. Some of the real top shooters will put up with a quicker /heavier recoil impluse to get the sights back on target quicker. 230 and clays seems to do both as several master class shooters use that combo. (for what its worth) Shoot straight
  17. 3.9 to 4.0 grs of clays with a 230 lead bullet at appox 1.240-50 is the "en quote" standard load for guys shooting uspsa single stack. Everybody I know shoots that load. Like stated before its soft shooting and always make major power factor.
  18. IF you are shooting 9mm MINOR HP-38 will work IIIIIII If 38 Super /SC then stay away from it unless you are again shooting minor. Much too fast for major loads. I shot 160 gr lead back in the day of single stack, 38super , no optics with a compensator for open class, yea I know real old!!!!! LOL and used AA7 I don't remember the amount . i.e. work up slowly until you make power factor. It shouldn't be a problem as we loaded to 180 PF back then
  19. I went with the 4.5 cause it didn't make any difference carrying it. But the 1/2 in sight radius is appox 18% longer. Went w/o thumb safety even though I shoot alot of 1911's. IT's not a 1911 so why try to make it one JMO
  20. I have a Dan Wesson Pm-9 Great pistol. The springfield NM1911 (usa made) 9mm is a good gun also but is not a Dan Wesson. It does everything it needs to do for USPSA though. If I didn't own the DW I would be looking to get an STI trojan. A couple of guys at the club have them and they are very nice. So IMO go with a DW PM-9 or a STI Trojan, which ever you can get your hands on (probably the STI)
  21. Big fan of WSF I've loaded and competed with universal smokey real smokey. AA5 good all around just doesn't FEEL right in the pistol during competition. use 3.6 with 147 lead and get 140 PF out of a SIG x-5 ,5" bbl real soft shooting but doesn't bring the gun back as qquik as the 125gr jacketed does. Good shooting
  22. If you're new to competition you may want to just go and shoot with what you have. Spend money on ammo until you get a good feel what class and type of gun you want to compete with. OR you'll wind up like me with a gun for every class in both IDPA and USPSA. Its alot of fun to own and shoot them all BUT its tough to get really good using them all. Its often said here" pick one and shoot it!!! Good fortune and Merry CHRISTmas
  23. Gonna stick my 2cents in. Worked at a shop for a long time and was offered to shoot for several companies. "not cause I'm that Good (B class) but because we bought a lot of guns. Shoot an M&P for a year great gun no problems and was accurate and nice handling. did the Apex stuff to it Then started shooting a X-5 AR. Very accurate, very easy to shoot. Handles great. Sights are great. I've shoot lots of rounds through it and have not had an extractor issue with mine. no problems getting the trigger smooth and light. No expensive gray guns work either. With that said sorry to y'all who are having problems with your extractors and no offense to grays their work seems real nice that I've seen. Just that I didn't need it on mine. Put a SRT in it and some lighter main springs and polished every thing inside It is a big gun and seem like around here guys with big hands like them alot. Some of the guys with med. hands seem to go back to their M&P's or try cz's. They seem nice also. If I was going to do it again I'd buy the SIG
  24. Shoot an x-5 AR in production. Was told recently by an avid IDPA shooter that they are going to a 43 oz rule for SSP next year "supposably" so it may be IDPA legal for ssp next year. I use a leather Alessi holster and mag pouches. Not as quick as K-dex but looks and feels real nice.
  25. I've had a STX for a couple of years, not alot of ammo thru it but absolutly no troubles. Great gun and cool looking also. Whats the going rate on them, I bought mine about six months before sig lowered their 1911 prices. Such is life. Actually was thinking of selling it to fund a new project that why I want to know what the going price for them is. Enjoy your STX, they are a great gun
