  1. I like the Dawson Ice magwell Gap or No Gap. It doesn't seem to make much difference on the reload to me!! But with the no gap you don't have to spend the money to buy the no gap base pads I use Wilson EMT 9mm mags
  2. Safariland 771 and just bought a set of DAA Racers that I'm going to use a SS Nationals. I figure 4 months to get used to them and practice with them should be more than enough. My only complaint with the Safariland holders is when you have to pick up and insert mags in them in a stage they seem cumbersome. So I figure I would try another brand for the Nats this year. We'll see jcc7x7
  3. STI short dust cover holsters should work
  4. I shoot a 625 JM revolver in IDPA so I don't keep "throwing" as I like to say, mags on the ground with ammo in them. And I'm having a ball with the REVO beating a bunch of the "bottom feeders"!!! Tried CDP and SS for a while but wound up dropping mags in IDPA and holding mags is USPSA. using cover in SS and not using it in CDP etc ETC. The revo has helped my brain separate the two games.
  5. ? price range on the H&M nitride finish? Went to the website and did not see a price list
  6. you might just need a little more crimp. i crimp mine a .419 I would agree with above and check your crimp with the lead bullets. Also measure the complete area were the bullet is. ie. the base of the bullet , middle of the bullet and the very edge were the crimp is. and compare that to the rounds that chamber well. Obviously this is all with the bullet seated in the case.
  7. I tumble after I load if the lube is messy. but little by little switching over to Bayou and SnS coated bullets, same product different color for different calibers
  8. cecil Maybe missed the priming step. just a thought
  9. Also try your loads much closer and much farther away i.e 25 and 50 yards. If the yaw gets much worse or sometime it will even clear up you know for sure its tumbling/yaw problem and not just that your bullet tears the paper different than you buddies bullets. Also shot some of your loads out of your friends gun to see if they do the same thing etc this is some simple ADVICE that may help jcc7x7 Sarge ain't the English language great!
  10. 6.1-6.3 grs runs Major with 175 or 180 like steve RA said get the chrono out 1.185-1.200 COL
  11. Yeah, I did that same recipe and got a 155PF out of my Springfield 1911 (full sized) this afternoon. I use 230gr S&S .45acp coated bullets with 4.2 gr WST at 1.250 OAL and easily get 169-170 PF out of my Guncrafter No Name Government Model 1911. I'm better with numbers than putting thoughts into sentences sometimes. The simple "5-inch barrel 1911" wasn't coming to me. Not sure why my data comes up so much lower than yours, unless the WST just swings a lot from lot to lot. Oddly enough, those 200g loads should have put me up around 860-800fps according to the Hodgdon site's data. Here's all my .45acp WST chrono data -- all at 67F bullet powder gun Vel low Vel avg PF avg 200g plated bullet 4.5gWST 5" 1911 714 723 144500 200g plated 4.7gWST 5" 1911 768 793 158533 230g plated 4.2gWST 5" 1911 643 676 155400 May be that you are shooting plated bullets and most everyone else is shooting lead or moly lead. Gererally jacketed and plated will be slower with the same powder charge. Probably because there is more friction with them verses lead.

    P16-40 re-release?

Mine runs whatever I put in it up to 1.190 , My STI will run up to 1.200 it also is not finicky with ammo. I shoot the Para better I believe because it has some weight in the grip.. Either way you should be fine buy/make alot of ammo and shoot it a bunch and the rest will be as they say , history good fortune
  13. I'm told the difference between B class and Master is consistency?!?!?!?! I heard Rob L. says this about 25 years ago. " the more I practice the luckier I get!"
  14. Sorry to give a different powder , I've been using WSF at 4.1 grs 1.135 COL, gives 131-134 PF depending on gun. Quit using TG with Bayou's cause they smoked and WSF and slower cooler powders don't
  15. I've used them but like most I tend to use them in practice and not at matches. Though I've had great success with the Wolf primers I have
  16. I shoot the so called perfect load out of mine 13.0 grains of AA9. this is my carry/defense load with a Speer Gold dot 125gr bullet. Practice and fun load is with unique, only because I have a ton of the stuff so I'm always looking for a place to use it up. The But is both loads cycle my gun and reset the trigger. trigger not resetting is due to the dis-connector or the trigger bar not being pushed down. I would bring both bbl's to the range and exchange them on /off to make sure it is happening at the same time/range trip. If it is then the gun and both bbls should probably go back to SIG. If not then its probably crud that needs to be cleaned out of frame to allow parts to move more freely. But I've shot mine awfully dirty and it seems to always reset. Good Fortune

    X-Five Slide Catch

Or cut the back half off and reshape it. that usually shortens it enough for me.
  18. If I shoot my game plan and do it efficiently my HF is always high. Seems like I go as fast as I can see my sights, as a well known person of this sight says!! Where I get in trouble is when a stage looks "easy" and I over run , i.e. over shoot my sights. I'm more concerned about the plan and exacution of the plan than trying to figure a HF prior to shooting it.
  19. Video's, books from top shooters and range time to make sure you're doing it right might be thr fastest way. or get some local pro advice
  20. 180gr wsf couple of guys I shoot with use WST 4.2 grs with 200 gr Bayou 1.190 COL 176 PF but the gun runs great and just pushes back into your hand. Frt sight stays with you the whole cycle.
  21. I've found WSF "field" works very well as a nice replacement powder for VV. Obviouly you can not use the same amount of powder as VV. It shoots soft and is no problem to clean up when your ready.
  22. I chrono on those really nice days in the winter. I usually go to 170-171 power factor for major and 130 -131 for minor and if I chrono on a 40-45 degree day they seem to hold up just fine during the summer unless you travel to the southwest.. BUT once you have the chrono about a month before any major match I re-test my loads. and if necessary readjust to get the PF I'm looking for. W231, WST and Clays at 170 PF have made every chrono i've run across with a 45acp. Power Pistol is a power that seems to work best at the high end of the loading spectrum. You might want to try 231 in the 9 also, tiegroup with jacketed or plated. WSF, AA2, AA5, are worth a try. Imr SR 7625 is a very very stable powder and works great in the 9mm if you can find it. Good fortune jcc7x7
  23. I run a 4 year old SIG STX. I use Lead either plain or coated i.e. Bayou or now SnS coated bullets COL 1.255 to 1.265 230 LRN for uspsa SS and IDPA CDP 200 LSW very accurate and cuts a very nice hole in the target and feeds well COL 1.250 185s I've not had good fortune with in 35 years of reloading mostly feeding problems
