  1. Guys thanks for the input. For the record, been doing this (reloading) for 40 years but always ran thing at the top end of stuff ie 10mm at 1200fps etc. the BUT was I wanted to use the gun more than for just hunting and heavy target use. I came up with some loads with Sr4756, WSF and old school unique. THEN did the easy thing bought a 40 S&W nowlin barrel and fitted it and now have another two barrel gun So the problem has solved itself. After a couple of local uspsa matches my "brass munger" really rose up and I couldn't bare to loose any 10mm brass so I had to get the 40 bbl. LOL Thanks again for the input guys jcc7x7
  2. 625 4" ESR Mdl 15 "Old" SSR If it fits the rules use it!!!
  3. Nothing is legal in IDPA. I just read the new update, check for yourself. LOL Yes I'm still shooting it!!!!
  4. 4.2 grs WST, 200 gr Bayou, 1.190 COL chrono'd the other day 25 degrees out, went 177 PF. Same load chrono'd 178 Pf at the Area 7 Match last year in NH probably 70 degrees or so when we went to the chrono station!!!
  5. Every time I go through a box 3700 of Montana Gold bullets I change the spring and clean the gun. complete clean with grip off. it gets lube in between and the exterior wiped off. using a 9lbs spring (Wolff)
  6. I tried it and it showed up in the box lets see if it goes to the post
  7. Carried a 1911 for over 35 years. I use others during summer or a short trip to store with sweets on etc. BUT 1911 is my EDC EDC!
  8. Fed SM Rifle preferred!!! Then anything I can get my hands on LOL
  9. 20lbs first 500 rounds then tuned load and me (lol) to throw brass for self defense load about 8-10 feet. Seems to work for me. That was what I was taught 30+ years ago. use 18lbs in 5" 45acp to start
  10. Hand press against a solid surface. Be careful and keep your face away from in front of it. i.e safety glasses etc . Its only an 8 or 9 lbs spring so it not very hard to do it. See STI's FAQ's on their home page
  11. My 16-40 ran with the big extractor in it with out a problem for about 10k rounds. Final got the sleeve and aftec installed and it works fine. If I needed a slide I wouldn't worry about it. Sleeve it and go on
  12. Thats kind of a SHOW GUN finish. and you might try nylon drifts/punches. but that will still wear the finish. Also you may not have to detail strip the pistol each time you clean. You may not be but I don't disassmemble any more than needed. Brownells has roll pin punches that are domed and they may helf if they fit the pin. BUT I think you need to run a plain MSH pin if your gonna pull it apart alot My opinion They sure look real nice though
  13. STI sentry or the trojan (every one I've seen seems like a real nice pistol. DW Heritage with a few upgrades, safety, Magwell etc. which most will require, etc Baer as some else suggested, Still needs a magwell usually Personal opinion!!! Don't mess with anything that has an additional internal safety, not needed!
  14. I really like 4.2 WST with 200gr Bayou at 1.190. got it from a friend and now its mine!!!!! Makes major easily and is accurate and very polite
  15. Used Safariland for years and just switched to DAA SS Racers. And now I've mounted them on edge. watch u tube video its a simple install and very reversable. What I like the most is getting the mag pouches closer together and not so far behind me . Only takes about 2/3rds the space they do installed conventionally. jcc7x7
  16. Pull it as tight as you can or will and go for it. I use a belt that is 4 inches shorter for production than my NEW single stack belt and it holds every thing fine. good belt loops on the pants and velcro on all your gear.
  17. wrote a big post and then deleted it. I pretty sure I agree with carmoney!!!
  18. I wouldn't put my faith in the velocities in the books or your chrono from the reprot you gave on weather etc. Most common info regarding reloading "it is safe in MY (THIS) firearm may not be in yours!!! Relaoding manuals are often not the same or even close to your gun high or low. Once the temps are up and your chrono is working shoot several loads over it and record all of them. If the load make Major prior to the book Max great. If not you're on your own. Lots of powder bullet combo's to make major safely in the 40. Always put safety first in all your firearm pursuits!
  19. I've not had a problem with the 135's in 1911 Bar sto and clark match barrels I gauge with the bbl's though
  20. 14 in Limited gun cause that's what feels good 15 in 40 Single Stack gun, again that's what feels and works with my grip style form etc etc
  21. Absolutely I own both and the Pm-9 is twice the pistol the SA is With that said there is nothing wrong with the SA . Just like there is nothing wrong with a VW but a Mercedes is a nicer car.
  22. Been beating the SS drum for 35+ years, for what its worth!! Wilson 47D or Chip power mags with whatever base works for you and the Dawson Gap mag well ( I use them also) Safariland or DAA racer SS both are good which ever one you find it stock will be fine I use six mag pouches and one in the gun , barney bullets in the pocket to top off the mag in the gun, every stage no matter how its set up (consistency) put the ambi on!! I messed up on the standards at area 7 cause I bumped the safety on while switching hands (cheap insurance) Wilson's are currently the best made , i.e. square and plumb
  23. I own and shoot both a Sig 226 in 357 Sig and a trubor in 38 SC The bullets will shoot fine out of both. I usually use the 124gr HP in my super Comp but when not avail I've used the 125 "sig" bullet. slightly different seating depth than the other 124gr profile bullet but shots great. JUST DO YOU DUE DILIGENCE and work up your load and get your Power Factor etc and COL. For me its just a little shorter COL and a little less powder to get the PF I want with the "sig" bullet Enjoy them both jcc7x7 P.s. to throw another rock in the gear box, the 124's will run fine in your 357 SIG also. especially if you shoot a powder that fills the case enough to help support the bullet from pushback etc. I use AA9 in my sig for full power loads.
  24. 40 S&W ==WSF for your carry gun, good velocity and accuracy with a smooth push in the hand. Also will not give much muzzle flash in low light or night use. 10mm AA9, Blue Dot dirty but great accuracy and velocity, Titegroup for light target loads, yea, Titegroup, it will work in your forty also BUT most folks think it is very "snappy" in full size guns so may not be a good choice for both for your small frame 40, but as always with reloading give it a try.
