  1. Make sure your bench is strong , heavy and if needed bolted to the wall. IF the press moves when your loading results will be in consistent. This may have been mentioned before if so sorry . I didn't read all the posts
  2. PP is great for mid and full power loads why noit make some of those up to use in practice to use up the power and then when you go to your match load you'll think its real easy to shoot the 125 PF loads. Just a thought.
  3. Went to local rubber supply company and found three different types that should work well for bumpers. Couple of different thicknesses of solid sheet rubber. % minute epoxy or Gel super glue holds them in place fine after you cut them out and use a leather hole punch to open up the base pad for mag take down. The one that is new to me has cuts in it appox 3/16 wide going north south on one side and east west on the other side. It is supposed to be more absobent to shock, i.e. being bounced on the ground. I just put the mag on the sheet outline it with a pen then cut it out with an xacto knife. then mark where the hole has to go and hit it with the leather holde punch, glue it on, trim and buff the edges and reasssemble the mag. Hope this helps jcc7x7
  4. Tom at Alessi Holsters dropped off my DOJ holster for my X-5. YEa I know that Kydex is faster etc etc. BUT it ain't near as Cool as a leather Holster nor as nice looking. Actually the holster is fast. My times don't seem to be any different and I'm glad I went with the leather DOJ. The DOJ is a upright semi open front holster. It makes USPSA and IDPA for production and ESP respectively. Thou I don't think the gun makes weight in IDPA. IT cover enough of the gun to be legal. Tom is also making a belt and MAg pouches for me but I really wanted the holster to try it and get used to it. Real nice job from Alessi Sorry no pictures but you can hit their web site and take a look. IT's hand made, hand fitted to the X-5 and hand boned. Fit is tight but not sticky tight. Let me know your thoughts Thanks for indulging me with the new gun and stuff for it.

    trigger question

as stated by Joe lots of polishing. Lighter main spring, adjusted trigger bar spring and adjusted hammer rebound spring to help with the light hits. I use federal primers with mine and its fine. Winchesters work 99 % feds 100
  7. X-5 is a much easier gun to shoot than a regular 226 mostly because of the weight and 5" bbl/sight radius. IMO The uspsa gun from sig is a alloy frame 226 with a fiber optic frt. sight and a short reset trigger. Not alot different from the standard 226 CZ shadow custom is a cool gun nice light trigger press both DA and SA. don't know if you like the grip and fact you have to manually decock it prior to holster. Some of the RO's around here don't like that whole deal but it is legal. Either one will make you a nice gun
  8. Thinking of milling a tac rail on it which should reduce some weight and give it a factory look?! Where have you been taking materail off?
  9. Joe I've been thinking about how to cut the weight down and still keep it legal. i.e. cut a tac rail into etc. How are you doing with the weight reduction? Mine weighs 45 ozs. with mag and the rules say 39 ozs. Seems like alot of weight to shed w/o making it noticable. I'm working on getting my trigger stroke lighter with 100 primer ignition. ITs a fine line with these SIG's in genral. I'm a SIG armourer and general pistol smith with lots of IDPA and USPSA guys in the area. Most are shooting poly guns so the REAL light trigger work is still a work in progress on the SIGS. I keep exparimenting on my gun and then the guys that shoot SIGS bring them in for the work. LOL. Dont blame them!!!! See your from Midland I've got a business office out on SCR 1200 in Midland. Misplaced Texan LOL jcc7x7

    226 take down lever

I've shot SIG's for a long time and have never had a problem with the takedown lever moving.
  11. I've been shooting one of these now for 3 weeks. Missed last weeks match so only shot in 2 match and have won both. Not bragging on me but the gun cause its so easy to hit with. Even the first shot double action. I've put a SRT in it and polished all the internals. Still have a little drag on it in DA so gonna tear it down again and repolish some of the areas. I've not had any problems with the extractor but havn't put alot of rounds throough it yet either. Seems to shot anything well. Using WSF and hornady 125 RN and HAP bullets at this pointed loaded to 138 PF. Still waiting on holster, using an old leather 226 holster with an open bottom. Appreciate any comments on your X-5 and how its working out for you thanks jcc7x7
  12. WSF and Hap 125 or Hornady 125 rn works great out of my 1911's for SS or Limited 10 minor. Also use it in SIG X5 for production. Load and chrono, I'm right in the middle area to get 133 PF
  13. My 16-40 ran great right out of the box. Did some personal add things but nothing for function. I score better with it than my STI eagle so that is my match gun. Would think if you want to stay with 45 that would be a good choice.
  14. One add at a time so you can tell if it's making a difference in your shooting or how you like the feel of the gun.
  15. Dan Wesson are real nice for a resonable price. I bought a hertitage cause I knew I was going to change some stuff. The gun fit is great trigger only needs a slight tweak for wgt. Mine came with the cocobolo grips instead of the rubber so I saved there. Give them a look!
  16. Thanks, it helped to know this stuff!
  17. Check DP site one is preparatry (misspelled) one is genaric.
  18. Have you started a classified ad yet and if so how is it listed?
  19. All the new 226 are being shipped with the new grip. The E2's also had a Short reset trigger installed in them to premier the new grip. Now they've gone back to calling them elite's with e2 grip beaver tail and SRT.
  20. SR4756 I think Hodogon web site has info, I f not a call to them will get so answers
  21. Titegroup is an obvious favorite and PP is nice but has a fair amount of flash
  22. One of our local master shooters uses it in his 38 SC and his 40 limited gun. Loaded to PF with proper precautions
