  1. i've shot with both but haven't noticed anything. will whip out the trigger gauge and check when i get a chance.
  2. i didn't get it either at first. thought the comparison was a pistol vs pcc. but obviously it was comparing a .223 to a 9mm. as far as pcc pro's, can have a super nice pcc, optic, buncha mags and extensions, etc for way less than a decent limited or open gun. and super cheap ammo.
  3. unnecessary and potentially dangerous/dq situation circus act in my opinion. i know 3 gun ain't real life, but pretty sure little to none are swapping out shotgun ammo varieties while under fire.
  4. i don't know chamber dimensions, but other than two clearly mag-related issues, my new 9mm edge has eaten a variety of 124 & 147 factory ammo with no problems in the couple of matches i have used it in, as has my 9mm eagle. haven't tried 115.
  5. so you're going to lock the bolt/slide back and insert a cleaning rod from the muzzle end? seems inert at that point and i wouldn't consider that sweeping yourself. but, sweeping someone with a pcc with flag inserted (ie, inert) is a dq so who knows...
  6. the dawson snl i put on one of my gen 1 sti ~170tubes didn't fit the gauge for open. the dawson snl's on my four sti gen 1 tubes that brazos tuned do fit the limited gauge.
  7. iirc from a wilson combat video, he said grease where there is obvious wear, oil elsewhere.
  8. it doesn't look like it would be as quick as the various thumb-activated release holsters commonly used in 3gun, any input on that? also not sure if a sling might get caught up in that lever? seems to me like it's an open-like holster for production etc divisions. locked it ain't coming out, unlocked there is zero friction?
  9. get a glock mos in 17 or 34 and shoot carry optics. tons of accessories for glocks (holsters, mag pouches, mags, trigger work etc) out there, lots of options. that will set you up for uspsa, idpa, falling steel, steel challenge and even 2 & 3 gun. you can be all decked out (holster, belt, pouches, buncha mags, etc) for well under $1k. have fun with that for a year or more and while doing that, ask everyone at matches to fondle and shoot their guns and then you'll have $4k to spend on your next gun.
  10. yes, a double stack 1911 (ie, a 2011) with a bushing barrel is generally legal in idpa, and the benefit is that it is an excellent gun for 2 & 3 gun where you want that double stack mag capacity.
  11. then he must get dq'd "all the time." if not perma-banned from the various clubs.
  12. among other sti's , i have the 4" version of your gun. nice gun. both dawson and brazos have mag release buttons that just screw into the hole in your mag release. for sights, i just replaced my steel front site with a fiber optic from dawson's, they have a sight selection section on their website or just call or email them. easy to tap the existing one out and the new one in. i'd just stick with the existing magwell but bigger is generally bigger. since you already undercut your trigger guard, could try stippling the frame. if not, for around $200 you could get a nicely stippled grip from extreme shooters and actually for less you could send your grip to them for stippling. my opinion is just keep what you got and run it for a while. you get hosed on selling these. then just buy something similar in .40 if you do want to stick with uspsa. and the tactical will be great for prs as you said and also 2 & 3 gun if/when you get into that.
  13. so i'm running a guy who isn't known for holding back. i get ready to say make ready and he says, ok, let's f*** this chicken. i couldn't even get the range commands out i was laughing so hard.
  14. he must either be the faster drawer in the world, or the slowest turner in the world, or both, to get that gun out and up like that. certainly after the 2nd time i would have pushed to have him banned from the club. that's some serious stuff right there.
  15. fakeout, you should find (uspsa website) and read the uspsa rules. there is a lot of stuff in there, but i try to read thru it all a few times each year. 5.2 Holsters and Other Competitor Equipment 5.2.1 Carry and Storage – Except when within the boundaries of a safety area, or when under the supervision and direct command of a Range Officer, competitors must carry their handguns unloaded in a gun case, gun bag or in a holster securely attached to a belt on their person (see Rule 10.5.1). 5.2.1.1 To be considered bagged, the handgun must be in a case or bag that completely covers the firearm, and prevents access to the trigger, including having the zipper or fastener completely closed. 5.2.1.2 A competitor who, while not at a safety area or under RO supervision, removes their holster or their equipment belt with their handgun still in the holster, shall be considered to be in violation of Rule 5.2.1 and subject to disqualification from the match.
  16. https://practiscore.com/pntc-may-2019-super-steel-am-match/register https://practiscore.com/pntc-may-2019-super-steel-pm-match-1/register this is a uspsa-ish match guessing an hour north of h-burg, just off i-81. 5-6 stages, run around and shoot falling steel. join me in squad 4 in morning and 8 in the afternoon. they do this on sunday as well. less complex stages than uspsa, but lots of steel, high round count, i'd bring 300 for each. a LOT of fun. shouldn't be too far out of your way on the way down saturday. https://practiscore.com/maryland-practical-shooters-association-may-2019/register actual uspsa match just north of frederick, md, guessing 2 - 2.5 hours from h-burg. join me in squad 5. if you were going home sunday this would or could be on your way.
  17. what match & date is it? sure someone here going to that match would let your order what you need and ship it to them, i would.
  18. either work up a minor load or buy a few boxes of atlanta arms minor .40. that does feel softer in my edge vs 9mm in my eagle, granted that the two guns are slightly different. now if you get a 9mm, you will have a little better mag capacity than with .40. and to confirm above, yes, if you shoot minor in limited at any stage (or chrono) then you are scored as minor for the whole match. no bump to open in this scenario.
  19. yes they have a good if not great rep for cs. but even better would not be needing cs. so far so good with my various vortexes though.
  20. i have and like the harris s-brm 6-9". added a pod lok handle and an adm converter to attach to a rail for easy on/off. keep in mind that most 3 gun matches don't allow bipods unless you shoot in open division.
  21. that's funny. i have a stable of sti's and shoot with others that are similarly very satisfied, but it's just my opinion, while you have an informed decision. anyways seems both our minds are made up, which is fine.
  22. man enough of this crap. i have more than a handful of sti's and love them all. just took delivery of another one today. wouldn't be doing that if i was experiencing any 'crap.' the only thing i can remember having to replace is an ejector on one of the guns after thousands of rounds.
  23. shoot/do what makes you happy and excited. i don't think there are too many trucks given away at shooting matches, so make them fun.
