  1. maybe just write "uspsa nats." def wouldn't have any gun reference on the box.
  2. i used that 205g syntech for the first time last weekend out of my 5" sti edge barrel at a uspsa match and didn't notice any keyholing. i do need to play around with it a little for groups/accuracy/poi as i didn't do that before the match and i've been using atlanta arms 180g reloads to date.
  3. well in the heat of the moment, i forgot my stage plan and earned two of those... it was actually a real good stage with lots of options as to when/where to engage the various targets.
  4. i shot a couple of boxes of the .40 federal syntech 205g at yesterday's uspsa match for first time. worked perfectly in my .40 edge with brazos tuned mags and my new mbx mag. i have been shooting atlanta arms 180g reloads (regular, not long) with same 100% reliability.
  5. that's ridiculous (especially talk of a dq earlier above). moved to open because you became less competitive than your division provided? i know optics are required, but coming off mid-stage would be a malfunction and the rules provide for some leniency with malfunctions (such as strong or weak hand only stages).
  6. looks badass indeed! and from what i've read, a badass (ie hefty) price tag to go along with it! needs a stamp? mag cost and availability? 9mm version coming?
  7. didn't really look at that holster, was just responding to the serpa reference.
  8. prob one of the most prevalent holsters out there. statistically the incidence of being an idiot with a serpa prob isn't much different than any other holster.
  9. think multiple bay stages, or "L" shaped courses of fire. no one is getting guns pointed at or anywhere near them.
  10. never had that happen, interested to hear the input. at the outlaw 3g matches i've done, depending on stage design, we do have shooters clear competitor's guns. clearly not everyone is familiar with every gun although keeping fingers outside of trigger guards should preclude pretty much any AD/NDs.
  11. pretty much anything can be used in Open, but without a comp and dot, you won't be the most competitive. but if just having fun, go for it.
  12. more than a few folks primarily shoot 3 gun, then use their 9mm limited guns in uspsa for fun/practice. would also be fine/fun in 2 gun, falling steel, steel challenge, etc.
  13. yep, ask the builder. atlanta arms does make regular and longer length .40 that lots of uspsa shooters use (i use their regular length reloads with zero issues), so you do have options albeit more $$ than syntech or other factory ammo.
  14. scoring is simply points per second (called hit factor). a piece of steel is generally 5 points. if you shoot (hit) it in one second, you have 5pts/second or a hit factor of 5. the actual # of shots at it doesn't matter, it's how long you take to hit it and get those 5 points. now if you miss it (and don't eventually hit it with make up shots), your time still counts against you, you won't get the 5 points, and you will have miss penalty points assessed. and if you forget the target and don't shoot at it, you will also have failure to engage penalties.
  15. now, that's a plan! oh and instead of not being focused on dq'ing, you should be focused on not dq'ing... ahahaha. we know what you meant. and congrats on jumping in, and staying safe your first match!
  16. i'd rather the shooter focus on remaining safe and getting his run on, vs taking his eyes and his mind off the gun while trying to find a place for the flag. same at the end of the run. just like the pistol guys that are more concerned about finding and picking up their ejected round than getting their gun back in the holster safely. when i'm the RO i think it's my job to make it easy and safer for the shooter.
  17. i'd contact the range and ask them, can't believe you couldn't have ammo shipped there. likewise, if you print out a ups label and bring tape, etc and box it back up, would think they'd let you put it in their ups pickup pile.
  18. i got my advice from a bill wilson (wilson combat) video, oil everything, then grease where you see wear. frankly if you clean it a lot, not sure what you use matters, though thicker stuff may hinder slide/bolt movement etc when colder.
  19. wow that's a pretty onerous rule. rowdy, doesn't it show an exception for reloading? maybe that's also a gamer way to improve your grip?
  20. i clean all my guns after every match. every once in a while i'm lazy and go two matches. and i do lube (oil) them up pretty generously. any mags that hit the ground also get cleaned, though not too many hit the ground when shooting pcc...
  21. jp and maintenance are oxymorons!!! everything d13 said above.
  22. i shoot a lot of 2 & 3 gun where the RO's generally grab the flags from the chamber (so shooter can keep both hands on the long gun) and hold them. so as a shooter i'll hand it to the RO or as the RO i'll grab it from the chamber, although some pcc shooters prefer to pull it and keep it on them, and some RO's seem offended if i indicate for them to grab it from my chamber. whatever works i guess, not that big of a deal.
  23. depends on what it is setup for from the factory. if it is set up for major power factor, then a lighter recoil spring for minor and vice versa. though above they're saying it seems to be set up for minor, as was my steelmaster, from the factory.
