Kjrobbins24
What does everyone use or recommend, powder wise, for reloading regular 9mm and 9major? There’s so many options it’s a bit overwhelming.
Rnlinebacker
The best I've found is Accurate no 7. Meters well and made major for an entire year across the country in majors and nationals.
superdude
Some of the common ones are in this article: https://www.ssusa.org/articles/2018/1/9/how-to-use-9-major-in-a-short-barrel/

APL-G35
I've used HS^ for 9 major but am going to try and develope a Accurate 7 load this spring to test. I guess it's dirtier but gassy and consistent.

I have been using AutoComp, but it's not running my Czechmate's compensator well enough due to lack of gas. I've also heard that HS6 is gassy and dirty, but dirtiness doesn't really matter to me. I am currently loading for my 2011 open gum. It's a 5.4 kkm barrel with 2 3/16 popple holes. My load is a 124gr PD JHP at 1.165 and 8.3 gr of powder. This load was a very consistent 175pf at Nats this year 1410, 1404 and 1411 FPS across the chrono

My Bul Armory Bullesteros Open Gun gets 169 PF with 124gr MG JHP over 7.7 grains HS-6. Never seems overly "dirty" to me.
VeilAndrew
Thanks you two for the information. Sounds like I'll likely load a ladder from 7.4 to 8.2 and see where I end up. Awesome!
jubi351
My Bul UR 115gr 8.8gr HS6 was 170pf
zzt
Having tried and chrono'D the relevant powders available in the USA, I think you waste your time with anything slower than SWMP or AA7. 9mm is case capacity limited. So, you want as much of a slow, dense powder as you can fit in. My load is 10.8gr SWMP under a 115 JHP @ 1.161" OAL. My comp could use more gas, but anything over 10.8 starts to spill out when the shell plate rotates.
sharko
Here's another one that I started out with. https://www.ssusa.org/articles/2020/4/28/accuracy-of-9-major-handloads I tried HS-6, AutoComp, #7, 3N37 & 3N38 and ended up with 3N37 for majors. For minor I Bullseye, Power Pistol & N340.
frankge
open guns... dirty and drippy - HS-6 because I have 10lbs left
Posvar
3N37 and N350 for major and N320 for minor for me
Bakerjd
I love ramshot competition and shooters world clean shot for 9 minor. Clean shot is less smoke but oddly a little dirty in the gun, I get little granuals with it but no issue with gun working. For 9 major all I've used is winchester autocomp. Works great for my open guns. I will hopefully never have to dip into my stash of titegroup again. Dirty, smokey, and meters like crap.
Blueknight749
For my Open gun I’m running RMR 124s with 8.2gr HS-6 OAL 1.17 for 172pf. For my X5 and Staccato Im running Gallant 124s with 3.4gr N320 OAL 1.12 for 172pf in the X5 and 168pf in the Staccato.

APL-G35
Finally tried the AA7 powder. Ended up at 10.0 at 1.160 to comfortably make PF. Gun ran great this weekend. I think the gun definitely tracks better with this load.
