mtwain56
I thinking about using a reduced power firing pin spring in a stock G17 with my own reloads with S&B Primers. I'm wondering how they compare in hardness to Federal SPP's.
TheChewycookie
In my test S&B primers are decently harder than most primers. They will run with the stock firing pin spring, unsure of any reduced power springs. That said, I don't feel confident in the reliability of a Glock swapping out springs that aren't the recoil spring or connector.

Southpaw
I've had no problems setting off S&B primers in Glocks with a 4.5lb. firing pin spring and factory firing pin. Edited July 16, 2021 by Southpaw
zombywoof
They are much harder than Federal
Out of Ammo
I've tried them in my XDM with PR tirgger kit. I had a lot of problems with them running a competition trigger and light striker spring. They might be okay with a stock trigger.
36873687
I’ve shot 20 k s&b spp. In 2011 all went band. Small rifle not so much
Why
Currently using them in a Glock with a 4# trigger, no issues.
ddc
Used tens of thousands in several Sig P320's. Stock striker/spring. No problems. Used several hundred in a stock Glock 42. No problems. I long for the days when you could get 1K for $18.99 or whatever it was back when Cabela's had them on sale. (It was Cabela's wasn't it? Hazy memory but not that long ago...) Danywill
With my experience, I think S&B is more harder .

Yes, the good old days...I remember I got them the very cheapest at $17.99 when they had some kind of sale, and I had quite some Cabela Club points on my card, so I took them home for free...wish I could get them now for $30/k. Never had an issue with them.
costeel
Back in my prod days, I would get a failure once or twice a match in a g34 with a lightened striker and reduced striker spring. Had no issues with the factory parts.
CZ85Combat
Keep in mind that S&B primers need to be seated 0.003"-0.007" deep. S&B old packaging had instructions that stated that you needed to seat them deep.
old558
I had very good luck with them. I only wish I had bought a lot more at 17.99 a thousand. Edited July 21, 2021 by old558

9x45
Ran over 30K of them. They used to be $18/K, but I put in a 6lb firing pin spring. They are harder.
4n2t0
I use S&B SPP regularly. I was that person who bought a lot more when they were cheap, lol. They're definitely less sensitive than Federal and Winchester primers. In my opinion they're a near perfect replacement for CCI in terms of sensitivity but YMMV.
