kmaultsby
Question for those who shoot major and minor loads. Do you use the same bullet weight and use less power or do you go 180 or 200gr for major and 155gr or lighter for minor?
FortyOverUnder
Personally I use 180gr for both. I know of others who switch weights.
darkvibe
Same bullet. Same everything except amount of powder. Not going to get 125 power factor but good enough.
kmaultsby
Same bullet. Same everything except amount of powder. Not going to get 125 power factor but good enough. Well I am around 140 power factor 180gr Bayou bullets using WST at 3.0 grains of powder. Edited October 24, 2015 by kmaultsby
FortyOverUnder
Do you have a major? I was at 3.5gr minor and 4.6gr for major. I never shot these at a match. These were test rounds I chrono'd as a back up recipe. I use different powders now for both.
Hi-Power Jack
I load my 9mm minor and major using Different Bullets, to make it a LOT more difficult to mistake one for the other. I use 124 gr JHP's for 9mm major, and 147 gr FMJ's for 9mm minor. You can't pick up one and mistake it for the other.

zzt
Same bullet for both. 2.8gr e3 for 144PF and 3.7gr e3 for 172PF. Both loaded to 1.126" OAL.
jimbullet
180gr PF 178 still developing minor load and I am thinking of choosing 165gr and will try to run it at 150pf, depending on how far down a velocity I can do without feeling the pistol being sluggish. 3gNinja
I'm lazy and don't like adjusting my powder bar, so I use 180 for major and 155 for minor, same powder charge. Also helps me to immediately tell them apart if they happen to get mixed up.

I understand that it is one bullet, I would like to know what bullet weight it is? I have used 3 grains of E3 with a 180 before.

waktasz
180 coated bullets, change the powder charge. 40 minor Tanfoglio Stock 2 and 40 major 6" 2011. Difference is a little more than one grain.
bret
2.7 grains of E3 with 200 grain xtreme plated out of my DVC at 1.185" shoots real nice.
ano
I got nickel brass for minor 40 loads... finally found some use for it
Hallz
180 for major @ 167pf and 155 @ 142 pf with same powder charge. Or I swap the powder measure (pre set) and use 180's or 200's for minor. Just depends on what projectiles I have. I have found load data that I can use for 40 major and minor along with 9mm minor.
