  1. Joel, I have those. Send me your address. Rich
  2. To get the 10mm or 38 super to work in an XD-XDm it would have to be done in the 45 sized frames, neither one will work in the 9mm-.40 sized frames. Stepped in mags will have to be designed/made, barrels shouldn't be a problem nor the proper sized breech face. It can be done but will there be enough sales to even break even Rich
  3. Light hits are also a sign that your recoil spring is too light or wore out. Rich
  4. About all the Custom Shop will do now is sights, trigger, and finish. Just some thoughts; Hard Tail safety Squared trigger guard some type of cuts on top of slide 360 mag well Defragged front and back strap Rear of slide serrated New frt and rear serrations Sights ITS trigger Rebarrel, possibly threaded for suppressor Electroless nickle with Teflon for looks Rich
  5. About 10+ years ago I looked in to making dust cover blanks to weld on 1911's. The problem was cost, getting the correct sized cutters to match the inside and outside radius(every company does a slight change to the external profile so one part doesn't fit all the variants), the time to just machine the part out, and then the time to install it properly. I had to charge over $450.00 to do it, back then nobody sold a frame(alone) that was full length so a few went for it. Fast forward to today there are several companies that sell full length receivers for a much cheaper price . My advise is to just buy another receiver that is full railed, you will be money ahead in the long run. Rich Caspian does have a Recon frame that you could have a section welded on for full length, you might even be able to get that section from Caspian from a scrapped Recon frame.
  6. Professional gunsmiths spend time and money developing signature cuts/modifications/parts/style to provide their clients the best they can do and at the same time put food on their table. If you are too cheap and or impatient to have it done by the originator and feel good about it then be prepared to be called what you are. Any respectable smith will not copy another smiths work. Rich
  7. Got this photo yesterday from a couple of clients, Canyon Creek 360 magwell on all but the top one.
  8. I've seen this tried several times, eventually the plug/s came out. No it wasn't I who tried it. Rich
  9. 16# or heavier, don't go lighter because you will run the risk of the slide not going fully forward. The recoil spring keeps the slide fully forward and the firing pin spring will pull the slide back if the recoil spring is too light/wearing out. Rich
  10. Time to practice if you are afraid you can't make a shot/hit. You are not going to be able to improve your abilities if you don't try. Rich
  11. The SSC started in '95, USPSA didn't start piggybacking the SSC until '06. The old holster rule I believe was a carry type holster that couldn't be in front of the midline(basically the seam of your pants) and the same for the mag pouches. USPSA went with the point of the hip bone, which moved everything forward and offset type holster allowed. I don't think there will be any changes to equipment, it will go on as it has since Single Stack Div. was created. There isn't many matches that have been around for more than 20 + years, this says a lot about the SSC. On a sad note '18 will break the string of USPSA National events held at PASA since '87( I believe '87 is the starting year, I maybe wrong). Rich
  12. Al, That sight cut can be converted to an adjustable Bo-mar type sight, Canyon Creek offers this service. Rich
  13. Go no longer than 1.150 oal, also be aware that titegroup is very dirty in minor so you will have to clean more often. Just try a variety of 9mm bullets to see what works for you. Rich
  14. A Springfield RO by Canyon Creek for the IN 400. "Defragged" front and back strap and the bottom of the trigger guard "Hardtail" grip safety Squared trigger guard "Snake Bellied top w/flute borders 40 lpi rear serrations Stan Chen main spring housing Black & White Ebony scales Front cocking serrations Canyon Black finish Later, Rich
  15. A 40 will shoot better than a 9mm in minor, with a 180 gr or heavier bullet it is so much softer to shoot plus you have more mass/energy to take down steel. I would never shoot Production in 9mm, the 40 is the unknown secret for shooting Production. Rich
  16. Canyon Creek is able to do 20, 25, and 30 lpi, snake skin & snake belly, and "Defragged" checkering. Rich
  17. The very first XD.s had very tight dovetails, current production isn't as bad. Secure the slide in a padded vise so the slide can't roll and drive out the sight from left to right with a steel drift pin. I've done well over a thousand that way no problem. Rich
  18. It just doesn't look right for a Caspian, serrations look off as does the stirup cut. Rich

I recommend a 16# recoil spring, going lighter will cause malfunctions eventually. Rich
  20. When you send it in mark where the welds are, Metaloy is the only one who can blend the two different hardness of metal when they bead blast it if they know where they are. It will still be slightly noticeable to you because you know where it is at. If you don't want machine marks noticeable remove them yourself or pay them to remove them. I have always sent guns in for hard chrome tight. Rich
  21. These current guns look better than the first guns that were shown originally when he started out. He defiantly has his own style all to himself. The price I have a problem with is the 12.5k rifle, I just can't see why it's that high. Rich
  22. The SV polymer grips are STI grips, sti got the mold in the break up. SV was allotted x amount of polymer grips from sti per the terms of the break up. The sti emblem was milled out and sv put a sticker over the milled spot, sti added the lower grip screws. Rich

The canyoncreekcustom.com web site is up and being revamped. The web store is no more, slowly trying to replenish inventory. Health issues are limiting the time in the shop. I still have a few XDm 140mm base pads red and blue, a few silver acp, and a lot of black XD 140mm base pads. Stainless mag wells for the XD, XDm, and ACP frames. Mag releases are limited. OEM XDM rebuild kits for 40 magazines, which will work for 9mm also and .45 acp kits. Tungsten guide rods are all on back order with some do in a month or so. Tanfoglio Open and Limited stainless mag wells are available, the Match size mag wells are a few months from being restocked. Rich
