  1. To me it looks like an Edge with mill work, a better finish, and a soldering iron gone wild. You could probably upgrade an Edge that fits the shooter better and be money ahead if you want to go the sti way. Rich
  2. The dust cover moves quite a bit when the gun cycles from firing, excessive weight may cause the frame/dust cover area to fail at some point. Someone did high speed video of the big three polymer frames under firing, I don't know what happened to it. You can see how much movement happens when the different guns were cycled. If your looking for around 5 ounces the Canyon Creek Tactical guide rod for the XD .45 acp will fit into the 5.25 slide assembly. The guide rod will protrude slightly out the front of the slide. Rich
  3. The way I view the choice of the two is this, if your going to modify the gun like Hennings trigger, grips, mag well and EGW hammer and sear. Go with the Pro, the price difference will pay for some of the mods. Basically the difference between the two is the Pro uses a short dust cover, standard barrel, DA/SA trigger, no mag well, lighter overall weight, and no scope mounting holes. I've lost count on the number of Limited and TS that I have cut the dust covers back on. If you want to make the Pro heavier up front the slide can be reamed to accept a bull barrel or the stock barrel with a tungsten sleeve. If you plan on no mods Limited, if you want a custom gun fit to you go with the Pro. Rich
  4. I start with CRC Electronic Cleaner, use a heat gun to dry it off and repeat until there is no visible contaminates. Then I use acetone followed with heat, any cleaner that you use should be checked to see if petroleum is listed in the contents, if it is don't use it. One of the hardest part to clean is a Bo-mar style sight, the rear blade assembly holds oil big time. Rich
  5. I'm always looking for Springfield .40's, last TM I bought was close 2 years ago. Rich
  6. No one makes a 9mm barrel that will fit into a 45 slide and as mentioned already the breech face is too big. Rich
  7. Springfield hasn't made them in a long time and when they did the numbers were small. Very hard to find one for sale and even harder to get someone to sell one if you find someone who has one. They were made in all Stainless, all black, and bi-tone, I'm still looking for an all stainless for the collection. Rich
  8. You are using a 10mm breech face with a smaller 9mm case, the case can slide out from under the extractor hook. The only thing you can do is get the extractor to apply more pressure to hold the case to the breech face until the case hits the ejector. Even then it may not be 100% reliable. Rich
  9. mwc5 Adjust the frame for the S-I mag tubes, not each mag tube. Rich

    Long slide 9x25. Rich
  12. I wonder how many times the "El Pres" has been shot since it was invented, millions? Up range start is just turning around, why do some have to make it so hard to do? Rich
  13. Canyon Creek has aluminum 140mm base pad kits available right now, no waiting. Rich
  14. Round count won't mean anything unless each and every round has a purpose when fired. Going to the range and shooting 500 rounds and half of those were misses, charlies, or deltas is just a waste of ammo and time. Rich
  15. One big thing is what one is willing to give up in their life to become a great shooter, like time, money, relationships, family,... Rich
  16. The vials can be damaged in the removal/install process if done incorrectly. Is there a date on the rear sight where their name is? Rich
  17. The Caspian trigger bow is too small to work in the STI frame. If you like the Caspian trigger shoe it can be mounted onto a STI trigger bow. Rich
  18. I've always used 180 grain JHP for Production. Rich
  19. The 16# will be the most versatile for the ammo you listed, the power factor of you ammo will determine which spring is right for the ammo. After firing a round where is the front sight after it cycles, if you have to raise the front sight up to line up with the rear your spring is too heavy for that load. If you have to push the front sight down your spring is too light for that load. Rich
  20. Loctite's black max will bond the two together, it's designed to bond metal to metal. Rich
  21. A weld up of two tubes would be the better option, the stock base pad could be used and a Gram's 13 coil spring and his follower will give the max capacity. Rich
