Weak ejection issue after steel grip install???
Aircooled6racer replied to nelson1each's topic in Open Pistols
Hello: Good point about the mainspring housing. Check to see if there are burrs in the mainspring housing causing the mainspring cap to slow the slide down. I have had to ream the mainspring housings before to remove burrs and to make them round. Thanks, Eric -
Weak ejection issue after steel grip install???
Aircooled6racer replied to nelson1each's topic in Open Pistols
Hello: take the slide off and remove the barrel and guide rod setup. Put the slide back on the frame and see if it slides freely. If so then insert a magazine and see if it still slides freely. Thanks, Eric -
Hello: I think this will help some keep their thumb off the slide slowing it down. Not sure if it really will help you be a better shooter after I have tried the ones on open pistols it did not help me at all. I think when they increased the weight for Carry Optics it kinda opened the door for all this stuff. Thanks, Eric

P320 X5 Legion announced! Q5 Match SF competitor?
Aircooled6racer replied to mellino19's topic in Sig
Hello: And now I am rocking it with Gray Guns curved trigger and an optic change. Hopefully now I can get more practice with it and some tuning. So far I am liking the Sig P320 X5 platform but I must say it may depend on how you use the trigger. I slap the trigger like some others that shoot the 320. I would like to try the Legion model just to see if I like the heavier setup. Thanks, Eric -
Hello: I have my P320 X5 setup for carry optics but would like to get another slide for Limited minor, IDPA or Production. I have the X5 iron sight insert and was wondering what Sig slide this would fit? I also have the original Dawson fiber front as well. I am not that schooled in the ways of Sig so any info is appreciated. Thanks, Eric

Hello: If you are going to shoot the AR9 PCC in USPSA pistol matches go for a light setup. You want the PCC to transition quickly and get back on target quickly. I like the weight a little more on the front end with the balance point just if front of the magwell. Alot more options if you build your own. Thanks, Eric

Hello: Not sure about having too much overtravel with a Gray Guns trigger kit. It breaks right at the trigger stop if you use the little included sleeve. I am thinking of taking the sleeve out to get a little more overtravel. Thanks, Eric

Holosun 510c remove from rail zero
Aircooled6racer replied to bigdawgbeav's topic in Gear & Accessories
Hello: The 510C is not a RMR footprint it is the 507C that has a RMR footprint. I have not had any problem removing the 510C and reinstalling it without zeroing it since I put it on in the same spot. That is on a 22 and also my PCC's. Thanks, Eric -
Hello: I was wondering if anyone has tried the Trijicon SRO on there 320 X5 yet? Seems like a pretty good combo with the large glass and different dot sizes. I have a Romeo 1 with the 6MOA dot and think the dot size is too large for me. I think I want something in the 2.5-4MOA dot size. Only thing will be having to use an adapter plate or machine the slide to fit the RMR cut. lets see some pics. Thanks, Eric

Hello: You said it will be an aluminum frame and for carry. Why not just get one in 45 and be done. If you plan on shooting it alot then get a steel frame and 9mm. Thanks, Eric

Hello: I ground the grip in that area as well. Coming from 2011's with undercut grips and big hands seems to be the problem. Thanks, Eric

Hello: Unless you actually test your springs you don't know what you actually have. Saying a Wolff 14 spring is the same as a ISMI or Sprinco spring maybe not always true. I also check them after 500 rounds and also when I think to change them out. Thanks, Eric

Ever seen this before - 22 stuck in a 9 case
Aircooled6racer replied to Chillywig's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
Hello: I don't see how it could get past the deprime station without feeling the added pressure and the bent deprime pin? If your machine was automated it maybe a different story. Thanks, Eric -
Ever seen this before - 22 stuck in a 9 case
Aircooled6racer replied to Chillywig's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
Hello: I use corn cob and polish and have never had that problem. Could the pins have jammed the 22 brass in the 9mm case? Thanks, Eric -
Hello: Mobil 1 works as well as anything out there. If a Porsche race car can run 24 hours flat out then your open pistol can run for a match. Thanks, Eric
-
Hello: Sounds like a recoil spring problem. I test all my springs since I replaced one years ago and the pistol would not run. I put the old spring in and it ran great. I made a tester and the 9lb spring was actually a 15lb spring. I then switched to ISMI springs and I have not had a problem. I still check them and the one that comes out of the pistol to make sure they are close in spring weight. Chrome silicon springs are better than piano wire springs. They last longer and hold their spring weight longer. That is what valve springs are made out of in your car. Sprinco make some good springs also. I would buy a 8lb and 9lb for your open pistol. That should get you where you want to be. Thanks, Eric

Hello: Oil it up with some Mobil 1. I mean dripping wet and shoot it. Thanks, Eric

Hello: I load my 115 JHP to 1.170" OAL and have shot alot at that length in my 2011's. I found loading to this length actually increased the accuracy also. I crimp the bullet pretty well so I never get any setback. Thanks, Eric

Hello: My 36" waist belt measures 45" overall length. This is a gray Shooters Connection belt. I get them a little oversize so when it is winter time I get wear thicker clothes under the belt. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric

John, I thought the same thing and found one. It is a sweet shooting shotgun that does not loose it's value if you buy it right. Lots of guys like the DT10 over the DT11. I have shot both and must say the DT10 is a nicer shooter. I also have a combo 28/410 Silver Pigeon 2 with 30" barrels. That is a great combo if you reload. Lots of fun with shotguns. Thanks, Eric

Hello: Those are great shotguns. I had a Beretta AL391 gold sport with a 28" barrel. It was a great shotgun. I also had the Teknys sporting but it was heavy compared to the Gold Sport. Great shotguns and easy to clean and work on. Next you will want a DT10 Lusso. Thanks, Eric

Hello: I know he had a hip replacement and also a baby so maybe that has slow him down a little. He is one of the nicest GM's I have ever shot with. Good all around guy as well. Thanks, Eric

What 9mm to start out with for USPSA - CO
Aircooled6racer replied to philipsinewe's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
Hello: I would start with jacketed bullets or plated bullets to start. I shoot a P320X5 as well and like the 124 grain bullets. I am using Extremes right now but have also used Berry's, Acme(coated) and Montana Golds in my P320X5. I am going to try some Acme 135's next since the 147's were not very accurate for me. Buy 500 bullets at a time to see what you like. Thanks, Eric -
Hello: The straight and the curved trigger are the same reach at about 3/4 the way up on the straight trigger. If you put your finger near the bottom of the straight the trigger is further away from you. I can do faster splits with the curved than the straight GG or stock one. My guide as I have said before is the timer and hits on paper. My mind can play tricks if I don't do it this way. Thanks, Eric

How would you describe a STI Trubor barrel vs KKM
Aircooled6racer replied to Fo0's topic in Open Pistols
Hello: The TruBor barrels are very good barrels and last a long time. KKM barrels in the past were hit and miss on how long they lasted. I am not sure how they are in the last 2-3 years but I will find out on my next build since I can't seem to get the barrels I normally use. The KKM barrels in my Glocks are very accurate even with coated bullets. Thanks, Eric
