  1. Hello: You have to put a magazine in there and then weight it. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello: I am shooting Carry Optics right now and having alot of fun with it. I started Carry Optics with a Glock 17 with a Brownells slide for an RMR. I am running a Holosun 507C and really like it. My new Carry optics pistol as of Monday is a Sig P320X5 with a Romeo 1 on top. Both pistols have there goods and differences. Glock mags are cheap and so are most of the parts. The Sig is a nicer grip for me and a better aftermarket trigger setup. I did buy an adapter plate for the Sig so I can put the Holosun on it if needed. If you go for open get a used TruBor in 9mm and don't look back. Both carry optics and open on most stages you will need one reload but and the big but is that carry optics is minor scoring. Welcome back to the sport and get out there and have some fun. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello: Another thing to look at is make sure the base pad goes all the way on, not just enough to push the pin up. I had this on one magazine a while back. Thanks, Eric
  4. Hello: I can give you a nice Glock 34 load that is accurate and also works in a G17. 147 grain Acme bullet, 3.1 grains Clean Shot, Federal Primers(I have a very light trigger), this gives me a 131-134PF in either the G17 or G34. My 135 load is Acme 135gr, 3.9gr HP-38(231), Federal small pistol primers. This 131-133PF. In the Glock I like the heavier bullets. In my 9mm 1911 I like the 124gr bullets. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello: I have shot Glocks for years and 1911/2011's as well. I like the way the grip feels in my hand. It just feels right but I will have to either stipple or grit the grip so I get a better hold. I would suggest you shoot one and see how it does for you. Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello: I learned something last night at the match. My pistol does not like Freedom Munitions 124gr reloads. I had at least 10 light strikes on the primers. I think they may have used some harder primers than my usual Winchester small pistols. That will teach me to test ammo before a match. I did like the recoil impulse of the 124's. I will try some 115, 124, 135's next week. I do like the 135's alot in other pistols but not sure on this one since it shoots pretty soft with the 124's. Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello: That chart seems a little out of order on some of the powders. Red Dot is faster than Clays. Clays is a wonderful powder but one I would not use for 9mm. Your results may very but I prefer powders that are a little slower like N320, Tite Group and Clean Shot for my minor loads. Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello: Be very careful with straight Clays powder in 9mm. It is a very fast powder and really is a 45acp or 12 gauge powder. I have seen some nasty blowups with clays in 9mm and 40 S&W. There are much better and safer 9mm powders out there. My current 9mm minor powder is Clean Shot. Cheap, available and works well with coated bullets. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello: I would be very careful with heat around a plastic C-More. Just put the Allen wrench in the screw head and twist it to loosen it. If it moves a little tighten it back less than you loosened it. Then remove the screw. The loosen and tighten motion heats the LocTite up to make it easier to remove the screw. This works best with blue but can also work with red on the two 10/32 screws. Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello: You are correct. The Magpul 21 round mags are great to have for carry optics. Buy 3-5 of them to have for reloads etc. Buy one or two base pads for your factory Glock mags for the stages that may need them. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello: I have had 3 MPX's and a couple AR9's. The MPX does shoot softer but I am not sure it is any quicker than a well setup AR9. Both can win in the hands of someone who practices with them. For me I really don't like cleaning that much but must say the MPX's I had ran great even though they were very dirty. I took them over 1200 before cleaning and the only reason I cleaned them was I felt guilty. I still have my AR9's since I can play around with different setups with them. One is a QC10 Glock lower and the other is a QC10 Colt style lower. The MPX's are now in other hands who are still enjoying them. Thanks, Eric
  12. Hello: I have been playing around with the new P320X5 I bought. Accuracy has not been that great with 147 coated bullets. It seems to like the 135's plated more. The power factor I am looking for is in the 131-134PF range. I am going to try some 124's this week to see if they are a little better. My Glock 17 likes the 147's with the KKM barrel and is more accurate than the Sig with the same bullet. Anyone have a accurate load they are using for their X5? 3" groups off hand at 25 yards is what I am looking for. Thanks, Eric
  13. Hello: I am not worried about bending the spring on the TTI base pads but wearing out the plastic on the sides of the magazines. That is why I like the Arredondo, Dawson and Zev base pads. The TTI base pads work great on my all metal magazines. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello: My CO setup is a Glock Gen 2 17(no finger groves), KKM barrel, Holosun 507C, Brownells G17 slide with RMR cut, ISMI 13lb recoil spring, Tungsten captured guide rod, Lightening Strike firing pin, 4lb Wolff striker spring, lightened plunger spring, titanium plunger, Gen 3 extractor, Zev back plate, Glock - connector and my trigger setup. My G34 gen 3 is setup for Production and uses Zev trigger, and Zev striker with some of the same other parts. Both run 100%. Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello: You could use a Lightening Strike striker as well. I have been using the titanium strikers for years. The Zev one is a little more extended and lightened. This is with a 2-3lb trigger setup. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello: I was using some reloads and also some 135grain Freedom Munitions I had laying around. I am also going to try some 115, 121, and 124's as well to see what I like best. I use hits on paper and a timer to see what is best since my mind can play tricks on what I think is best. Thanks, Eric
  17. Hello: The Zev base pads you just lift the lever on the back and slide the base plate back. It locks into place so you don't loose the bottom plate. The Arredondo ones you need the tool but they come off easily. There are copy Zev ones on your favorite auction sight but the quality is not as good as the factory ZEV ones. Shooters Connection carry the Arredondo ones. Thanks, Eric
  18. Hello: If you are shooting USPSA pistol matches with 32 rounds max per stage I use the Glock Factory 31 round magazines with aftermarket base pads. The easiest ones to remove are the Zev ones but they only give you 34 rounds with the stock spring. Next are the Arredondo +5 base pads and they will give you 36 rounds with the stock spring. Next will be the Dawson which will give you 34-35 rounds. These are the easiest for me to remove and clean. 34-36 rounds will get you through most pistol stages and if you think you need more use a bigger base pad on that stage. I see guys which massive magazine setups on 24 round stages. Use shorter mags on those stages and save your special big sticks for the stages that need it. Just my thought. Lastly I load my Glock ammo to 1.140" OAL and have not had a problem with any base pads I have used including TF and MBX. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello: I just picked up a P320 X5 today for carry optics. It came with a GG guide rod and 1911 recoil spring. I tested the spring and it is 14.5lbs. I ran some ammo through my chrono and they were in the 133-135PF range. I tested 147gr and 135gr bullets. All ran 100%. I am going to test some ISMI 1911 recoil springs as soon as they get here from Shooters Connection. I will try the ISMI 14, 12.5 and 11lb springs and see how they work out. So far I don't see a need for a tungsten guide rod since my splits on paper are pretty good at 7-10 yards. Transitions are good also. Thanks, Eric
  20. Hello: Lots of open shooters have gone back to the C-More slide rides. They just seem to hold up longer than the micro red dots. I have both plastic and aluminum C-Mores and they both work great with the aluminum one being heavier. I don't seem to have all the dot shifting problems alot of guys have. On the elevation screw I go past the adjustment and tension it so it puts tension on the down side. Pulling the arm down. I have been playing with the Holosun 510C red dot and like the large glass and it seems to be working great for me so far. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hello: My point of aim does not change with tape over the front of the C-More. Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello: Well it seems you want to do a alot to your G19. First step back and slow down. Decide what you want to shoot and in what gun game. Read the rules for the division you want to shoot in. Do you reload or do you want to? Now, what I would do is get a G19 gen3 slide from Brownells that is cut for a RMR and get a Holosun 507C. That way you will still have your original slide setup or you could sell it. Then decide if you want a comp or just run a standard type barrel. Shoot a comp gun with major power factor loads to see if the blast bothers you. The rest will be up to you and what you think works best. Personally I would have started with a G17 gen3 since there are lots of options for it and lots of good used parts around. Good luck with your build and have fun with it. Thanks, Eric
  23. Hello: They seem like a really well made mount for your Glock. I like the locating pins with added thread engagement. Thanks, Eric
  24. Hello: The difference in loads between the G17 and G34 is only 3-4PF. So if you get 134PF from the G34, the G17 will be about 131PF. Glock tend to be faster than some other types of barrels as well. I like the G17 over the G34 for carry optics. Base pads that I like are the Arredondo and Zev ones since they are easier to remove. I have Dawson, TTI, TF and some others. Another option you could do is a G34 for Production and build another slide for Carry Optics. Thanks, Eric
  25. Hello: If you are interested in CO the sight radius does not come into play since the optic does the sighting for you. If you are shooting iron sights then yes, the sight radius comes into play. The G34 is nice to have that little bit longer sight radius for those longer head shots. Both are as accurate as the shooter but the longer sight radius makes it a little easier. Make sense? I have had or still have G19,G17, G34 and a G17L. I found the G17 is good for carry optics and the G34 is good for iron sights. I have not shot the Gen 5 G34 that does not have the slide cutout yet. I think it maybe a pretty nice soft shooter. Thanks, Eric
