  1. Aren't the iPad's (mini's too) harder to see outside, especially when bright sun?
  2. Since SPS tubes are generally "softer" metal than sti, svi or mbx they don't tend to keep their shape as long. I had two that ran perfect for two years (Grams internals and bp's, tube dimensions tuned properly) until one day they would not feed reliably anymore. Did everything possible to make right again, they do now run but I'll only use them for practice.
  3. You will get plenty of responses I'm sure but there is a recent thread here in this section about the same thing. Plus, try doing a search, you'll get tons of information. Good luck, welcome
  4. You most likely talked to Beven, the man himself, not Devon. Beven will never steer you wrong, he is the best.
  5. Reality is the actual length of the tubes vary just a little so buying one size bp because a chart tells you so is a gamble. If you don't have one ask fellow competitors you shoot with if they have a mag length gauge you can borrow. If you never do this and one day you are at a match and then find out the 170 mag is just a smidge too long because they were checking..... Personally I prefer Grams BP's, springs and followers. Good luck in the path to the dark side. ?
  6. I tried searching and came up with nothing. The new IMR Blue powder, has anyone done any load testing in 38 super/SC for an open gun? If yes, please post some results or direct me to a thread where it is talked about. Thanks
  7. Have to agree with you on that
  8. ok, I'll add clarity to that. Using a longer OAL in a factory old-style STI mag with no spacers is not the fix for not needing spacers. Those that run with longer OAL and no spacers in the old style sti mags are lucky if it has worked. Correct, the use of spacers necessitates using a more normal OAL for 9mm.
  9. OAL of ammo has nothing to do with needing spacers in the old style sti mags. Those that run with longer OAL and no spacers in the old style sti mags are lucky if it has worked. Spacers will make 9mm rounds more reliable in the old style tubes(2 control ribs on each side). New style sti mags have one, wider control rib per side, much like sps, svi and mbx, which facilates not needing a spacer to run 9mm.
  10. Don't just throw it in, needs to be fitted properly, which is not necessarily making sure the fp stop is fit correctly, like ltdmstr said above.
  11. couldn't you just use a clear lacquer from a spray can? Like done when sealing up a painted grip. Used that on my stippled and painted grip, holding up fine after several years.
  12. Grams pads will crack when the mag gets dropped when they are installed on a tube that is out of spec (too large) at the bottom of the tube. If you have to exert more pressure to install the U-pin into the BP while on the mag then just inserting the U-pin into an empty BP than you know the tube is just a little too large at the bottom.
  13. Tube is too wide internally which is affecting the double stack to single stack transition area. That area would need to be squeezed in, keeping the tube square as well. If you are not mechanically inclined don't attempt it.
  14. Have you tried looking on Zappos.com. from what I remember returns are free , especially if what you purchased does not fit. Check it out
  15. Grams springs and followers are a better design, problem is the mbx tubes are too wide internally, which is one of the reasons why beven will never recommend using his stuff in an mbx tube. Beven designed his spring and follower to work in a tube (sti, svi, sps) within a certain spec width; that correlates with the dimensions of the double stack of rounds for the caliber designed for that tube.
  16. Is the aftec sitting "sprung" in the channel or is the inside face/hook side sitting against the inside face of the channel? In other word is the aftec able to fully travel back and forth or is it impeded by the channel on the hook side. If yes you need to remove material on the inside prior to the hook.
  17. Huh, I thought the 3 gun models had a bushing barrel https://stiguns.com/guns/dvc-3-gun/
  18. 1.235 for sc and 1.225 for super. If still dragging then try a touch shorter or a RN bullet. Others mentioned about nose diving. If no problem with cartridges rubbing frt of tube than its the double stack to single stack transition is too wide. Needs to be squeezed some if you are mechanically inclined.
  19. Not No. VA but driveable. https://www.flatbrokeshootersllc.com
