  1. Yes, this can happen, but more than likely you will be on a waitlist, at least for Saturday and Sunday. If you do this, please be clear as to what day and squad number you would like to be on and we'll try to accommodate if something opens up.
  2. Sarge, the control rib on either side of the mag that is in the double-stack to single stack transition area have always been too wide or have gotten out too wide from use (usually from dropping them with rounds inside, like we all do upon live fire reloading). Your 170 mags are within spec as they are presenting nicely. You have to squeeze them tighter WITHOUT getting the mag out of square AND without causing the top single stack area under the feed lips to get too narrow. You also have to squeeze them more than you think you should as the metal will spring back some when the clamp pressure is removed. Those control ribs are what control the presentation of the rounds. There is a tutorial about this concept on here somewhere by Jim Anglin and another by someone else, has to do with Caspian mags but the theory is still the same. Good luck
  3. Used to use it all the time for 9major. So did many other top shooters "back in the day" when springfield p9's ruled the open game. I want to say it was somewhere in the 8 grain range with 124's but if you search for threads here on be.com I probably posted it at some point. Good luck
  4. There a few threads here on be.com about the new generation of sti mags. I don't remember what section it/they were in.
  5. How much did the slide weigh? Typically STI would replace a cracked slide if the weight is not less than a certain amount (I don't recall that # in oz. but do a search, you'll find it)
  6. I presume there are spacers in the mags right?
  7. The ability to reserve a squad for Sunday is now closed but there are still open slots available for Sunday. Thursday and Friday are still wide open if you would like to reserve a squad. Thanks
  8. Saying required is not true, sorry you feel that way. Saturday has a few squads we left open (not reserved by those that sent us in squad requests ) and Sunday approx. 1/2 the spots are still open. The idea of people sending in squad requests was simply an idea that has taken off much better than anticipated. Hope to see you there, Bill puts on a great match.
  9. As of now the ability to reserve a squad for Saturday is closed. Other days are still open but Sunday is now filling rapidly.
  10. Update. Saturday only has two more open squads left so if you want to take advantage of pre-squadding don't wait. Sunday now has five of the 12 available squads taken. Thursday and Friday still open. Also, this communication came out this morning. 11. Your stick idea may work but you are forcing wood into a steel tube that must be moved past it's present shape so that when you remove the stick it still stay a little bigger. Almost fighting a losing battle which is why hydraulics and steel mandrels are used for extreme reshaping of tubes. Seriously, good luck, it would be easier to contact sti to have them replaced.
  12. At this point I would contact sti for warranty replacements.
  13. Try talking with APW. http://www.apwcogan.com/
  14. Do the 140 mags jam the same way? If yes, I've got nothing. If no, check the extractor tension, probably a little too light good luck
  15. The squadding requests are coming in regularly and so far Thurs. and Fri. still are wide open but Saturday has seven of the 12 taken and Sunday three of the 12 are taken Squadding and Squad Reservations The squadding will have 12 squads per day Each day will have the following open squads: Thursday 5 open slots per squad Friday 9 open slots per squad Saturday 10 open slots per squad Sunday 9 open slots per squad We are doing what we can to make it less stressful come registration day for those traveling to the match in groups. As such, we are taking reservations for full squads until Feb 28th. Simply email us at easternshorepracticalshooters@gmail.com with your team name and a list of shooters in your squad.
  16. It does. Talk to the one who makes them if you don't believe me.
  17. If the bottom of the tube is out of spec that certainly will happen
  18. Yes. If you think it's inferior talk to the man himself who produces them at grams engineering. Bevin is a wealth of knowledge.
  19. If the "pads are just plastic" is referring to Grams BP's, they are Delrin. As long as the tube is within size specs where the pad attaches then it is just as durable as the alum. pads everyone else manufacturers. The key is the tube within specs, most (STI, SV,SPS) are not. Meaning the u-pin that grams has to hold the pad onto the tube has to slide in place onto the mag just as easy (or the same amount of friction, however it makes more sense to you) as if you were sliding the u-pin into an empty bp.
  20. after you check the items above AND you still have a problem you'll want to adjust the double-stack to single stack transition area. Might require some squeezing of the ribs in that area, making sure to keep the tube square as well. That transition area controls the presentation of the rounds and when it gets too wide you can get the problems you describe.
  21. The double stack to single stack transition is the most likely culprit BUT you can chk to make sure the feed lip dimensions are at a min. Equal across the opening or maybe slightly wider towards the frt. If that is all ok that transition I mentioned can be adjusted by squeezing that transition a little at a time, making sure to keep the mag square. Squeezing won't be easy as those mags are really tough.
  22. This might help you isolate the problem? Remove the recoil spring and load up some dummy rounds in a mag. Load the magazine and chamber a round. Now very slowly pull the slide back and watch each round as it ejects/gets extracted and a new round chambers. Maybe something can be seen? I had a sporadic extraction problem as well and this procedure showed me the ejector was too long and not shaped optimally. Good luck
