  1. It’s also my powder of choice in my open gun
  2. FYI, Grams Engineering is a one man shop (him) and is busy re-tooling it. Don't be surprised if it takes quite a long time for him to reply. If Beven (that is his first name) does get back to you he will probably ask if the tube is within spec dimensions internally. These are dimensions for a 2011 double stack tube, they might be similar for yours, just trying to help. The ideal internal width between the control ribs is 0.815” for typ. Reloaded ammo, no narrower than 0.790”, no wider than 0.825” and keep tube square. Too narrow left to right and there is less capacity. Too wide left to right and the rounds can start to stack incorrectly and bind on each other And if you are saying you messed with his followers by smoothing and chamfering there might be less inclination to help you. Good luck.
  3. sounds like the follower is getting caught at the bottom of the control ribs transition at the bottom of the tube? Best thing to do, IMO, is smooth out that transition. I don't use factory guts in my tubes but rather grams but I never have a problem with the follower hanging up at that control ribs transition area. realize grams followers are shorter in height than factory guts so don't think just changing to that will fix your problem.
  4. Any brand tube that does not have a SMOOTH transition where the bottom of the control ribs meets the lower side walls of the tube will have problems as the rounds travel up and past that transition. I’ve got some older generation SV tubes where the transition is SMOOTH so there was nothing else for me to do. Gen 1 STI tubes are not smooth at that transition so they need to be corrected. I don’t have newer SV tubes or Gen 2 STI tubes to comment on those.
  5. Has anyone applied lines in this fashion while painting a stippled 2011 polymer grip/can instruct how to do it? The stippling I did is more aggressive than the picture shown. I was hoping a splatter technique would work with something thin, did not in the testing I did. Thanks
  6. try alpha-gorrila or go fast don't suck
  7. that was exactly my thought as well
  8. I’m sorry but I don’t, I know it can’t be soon enough for him
  9. Grams’s engineering (Beven) is literally a one man show and he is in the middle of retooling his shop. It is not his preference to limit communications.
  10. 7.4 of 350 behind 124 mgcmj i originally played around with autocomp, works but did not like as much IMO you find most vv powders burn clean. there is a Brazos article about testing powder burn and comps, go to his website and look through the articles section
  11. In MY GUN I prefer it. Just shoots a little smoother for me oh, VV105 is another choice of powder
  12. IMO, sounds like you need to send it back to the builder and have them figure it out
  13. Funny you say that, it's the road I went down and it works for me. https://www.doublealpha.biz/us/rangecart-pro I'm one of those that prefers the larger Shooters Connection range bags (yep, it's heavy when filled up), which has the large side pouch for magazines that flips down, which is where I also keep mag mop/brush. After shooting I go back, flip the pouch down and start cleaning and rearranging mags. I thought about using a "wagon" type of cart but I'd have to build a raised platform to raise the bag up or lift it out to work on my mags so I went the range cart route. I did add a PVC shelf at the bottom of the range cart so the SC bag would actually fit/sit better since the cart is designed for a back-pack, which are not as deep. The tires have been frustrating (hold air or not hold air, that is the question) but I seemed to have worked that out finally with the help of DAA. I don't shoot any multi-gun so a jogging cart was never in the thought process.
  14. When all is said and done I agree with Idahoaashooter. I had an older Tang (witness) open gun that I loved but parts are harder to come by. Not impossible by any means but when you compare it to a 2011 there is no comparison in availability. What FTP_Shooting_Sports mentioned about how the CZ/Tang design works is correct, which correlates to the barrel/link, slide stop pin and fit to the frame and barrel is so critical if not fit perfectly, while using it as a competition gun, will most likely cause the problems he mentioned. To be fair there is a friend of mine who's been shooting his Checkmate for a few years now regularly and as far as I know it's been reliable for him. I switched to a 2011 open gun a few years ago and could not be happier. Good luck

    Thumb Rest

I never understood how close the thumb rests were, going on the same context as what slide4949 said: so I found this from Roy Neal, a knurled rest, he's a member here on be.com It allowed me to place it as far forward as I liked. It may even be one more hole forward now (based on the holes in the site mount), this is from a picture taken two years ago and i don't have my gun in front of me to verify.
  16. here is some old text from Jim Anglin, explaining what I mentioned. Below that is a thread with pics, explaining basically the same thing. Lastly, Atlas has a youtube video about the same context on STI mags, although what they don't show is the need to keep the tube shape "square'd". Start squeezing the tube too much and you'll ruin it. Ya need to get the second round over under the top round, the second round in the mag supports the top round, if the second round is off to one side the top round will nose dive. Take to pieces of round plastic 1/4" in dia tape these two pieces into the groove at the top of the mag, then take a small clamp with two pieces of wood cut the same width as the mag and clamp these two pieces of wood to the front and back of the mag. Dont put any more pressure on the clamp than it takes to hold the wood strips in place. Put the mag with this set up attached to it in a vise and squeeze the top of the mag together while watching the second round(go slow!) when it moves over under the top round some release the pressure and note if the second round has moved more under the top round thanwhen ya started, keep doing this till you have the second round pretty much under the top round, then put three rounds in the mag repeat and then four rounds and repeat. check how your mag feeds now with no recoil spring in the gun, when ya have it right the round should go into battery with just thumb pressure on the back of the slide. Only do this with a grams follower and spring set up if ya do this with the stock follower you will bend heck out of your mag and ruin it. Jim/Pa Sailors
  17. The nose dives are most likely a problem with the tubes being too wide at the double stack to single stack transition. Tighten that up some and those problems will most likely go away. Do some searching, you’ll find posts that more fully explain how to do it. the space at the bottom of the tubes can be helped by smoothing the control ribs transition at the bottom. They are not typically “smooth” or “flat “ enough so the follower can get caught there. File, sand, make it a smoother transition. good luck
  18. Sounds like the double to single stack transition area is too wide, needs to be squeezed together some
  19. I found no problems with using it in my 650
  20. I tried it, it worked but I like vv350 better. In my open gun(38sc) it took over 9 grains to make major with 124/125 grain bullets. Not saying it’s a lot of powder, there was still room in the case, just took at least that much. TruBlue seemed to be the same powder with the same results. i was more curious to see would it be viable to use if I couldn’t get vv as imr blue or trublue I could find locally good luck
