  1. Did you take apart/clean the recoil assembly in the stock and use a very light viscosity lube? FP-10, M1 0w- _, or BreakFree CLP work well. It is a bit tougher the first time because you will need to heat up the cap enough to release the Loc-Tite.
  2. I say it should go back to the mothership. Let them correct it.
  3. For 9mm specifically? At 1.15 compared to another at 1.12 should be modestly slower, but it all depends on the variables/components used.
  4. Pressure, yes. Velocity, likely. There is a fair difference in my 40 long loads and standard 40 loads. Can not use the exact same recipes. I need to bump up the charge wt. by a couple of tenths when working up final loads to be close in PF. What kind of difference in OAL are we talking about?
  5. Which Shockbottle CG are you using? Just the standard or do you have a 40L or 40XL?
  6. 0-40 because that is what I have in the garage. More zinc too. Works great, but I am sure others would also.
  7. Have not layed hands on any new FED100's in over a year. Found some 150's, but no 100's! Just buying what I can get.

    BE-86

Will need to look, but I want to say it wasn't that great.

    BE-86

    Coated 230RN (ACME) under 5.6gr BE-86 ran (avg) 818fps at 1.250" in 5" bbl...dialed it down to 5.2gr and got 790fps, which was still 181PF. BE-86 has got some speed. I liked it in 40 & 9 better: Coated 180TCG (Bayou) under 5.4gr BE-86 was 169PF for me at 1.180" 5" bbl. 9mm: Coated 124RN (ACME) under 4.6gr BE-86 avg 996fps 1.120" 5" bbl.
  10. I prefer coated to be grooveless . Seating is smooth, neck tension is good... and COL is exactly where I want. More of an issue with 40 loaded long, but I tend to seek out all coated exclusively in grooveless now. Unless I get a killer deal!
  11. Deceptive site warn on Chrome/WIN 7 again, as of a few minutes ago.
  12. I prefer to keep 40 Minor ~136-140PF. 165gr around 840fps or 180's around 770fps. More reliable & accurate. Clays or Clay Dot both work well in that 3._gr zone.
  13. I sometimes notice the burned wire insulation smell on foggy days with still air. Even then, it is usually only at the start of the range session/string of fire and it dissipates. Very minor issue and honestly it doesn't even smell bad. It can be more pronounced when a batch of coated bullets has not been cured fully. There will be other signs if your supplier rushed pre-bake drying or bake time on a batch, applied coating to thick instead of in multiple thin coats, or mixed the Supercoat components incorrectly. The process was fairly new to many mass production bullet manufacturers some years ago and a few had to go through a learning period, but nowadays nearly all of them have the process dialed in. If you suspect you have an issue, here is a decent test to help determine whether or not you have an improperly cured batch... Do a quick wipe of a test bullet with an acetone moistened bore patch. If the coating comes off in a smear....you have a problem. This test only applies to Hi-Tek 'Supercoat'. Just because you get a hint of electrical insulation on occasion doesn't automatically mean your Hi-Tek bullet manufacturer got it wrong.
  14. aaaaand they wanted the moth back?! LOL Maybe they needed to make a wanted poster?
  15. Given the circumstances, it sounds like there wasn't much that you could do. You managed the best you could. It showed class when you adapted and helped with match operation.
  16. Glad we have a new season. Great show!
  17. What are the issues you get from weak magazine springs?Imbalance in slide speed and round presentation from the magazine. The first sign of worn/weak mag springs is typically FTL and/or jams involving the last few rounds in the magazine. When you start getting these failures...take note.
  18. Yes, size does matter. Stick with 9's for skeet loads. Quick and simple. 8's or 7 1/2's both can work well for singles and handicap trap, but it depends on your choke. I prefer a tight full choke with Magnum 8 shot rather than 7 1/2's because they pattern better (in my guns) at 30-50 yards. If you like a more open choke the slightly larger shot may work better for you. You need to pattern your gun and see. 7 1/2's are generally the wise choice for handicap use for 24 yardline +
  19. You will find that if all components are the same...the difference between 1.20" loads and say 1.12" OAL will require + several tenths additional powder to maintain PF. The final charge will only be determined by testing the loads in your gun over a chrono.
  20. Swordfish, Your hold should be firm with a lean into the shotgun...just like any other shotgun. Perhaps you need to clean & lightly lube the recoil assembly? Use a light viscosity lube. You can also utilize a reduced power spring if necessary.
  21. Just hold an inertia gun like you would any other...firmly with a slight lean into it. Is this a newer shotgun? Are you using the exact same ammo as the guy that has no failures. Let's delve into Alaskapopo's point shall we... What shells are you using exactly? Explain what kind of jam you are experiencing and perhaps we can assist. Is ejection the issue or are you getting a hangup at the last 1/4" prior to lockup?
  22. Welcome to you, Kells81! Sounds like your trajectory is leading you to...well...more. Shoot some USPSA with what you have now. You will absolutely love it. Consider that Edge you desire when you can do it.
  23. What about keeping finger OUTSIDE of the trigger guard during the reload?
  24. Good to have you with us, Bob. Welcome to the forum!
