  1. And may I say...nicely done. Merry Christmas to you, too!
  2. After all testing and the load is finalized...100+ perfect rounds. If something less than perfect occurs or anything odd or unexpected happens, it is more. If for any reason I need to change the load...100+ again. I know for some this may not be enough. IMHO the odds are high that if I shoot that many with absolutely no issue the load will be good to go. The gremlins can always come from somewhere else, but I feel confident enough. Gotta concur with Brooke on the heavier bullets. However much of it is perceived and some of it is just personal taste.
  3. The + follower solved this.I use the + versions with extended bases. Function very well, durable tubes/lips, lock in & release cleanly. I'm a fan.
  4. Less demand. The manufacturers simply carry what sells. If a few bullet manuf. make & stock .357 because they have a following...just buy from them. Or send a purchase request to a manufacturer that will run some for you. I would encourage you to buy from a stocking manufacturer for convenience sake.
  5. That is my understanding too. Hodgdon is transitioning over contract production to Canada...same product as prior. ADI's Australian plant will release a reformulation that provides for more earth friendly process sometime mid 2016.
  6. FED150 is always my first choice..if I have a choice. However, these days you need to be flexible and get what is available.
  7. You are welcome. It is nice to have the ability to tailor your own loads, plus shoot more at the same spending level. Shoot well!
  8. True. Clays makes a darn nice 40 Minor load too. Soft shooting...especially with 180's. Hi-Tek coated can work fine in your factory barrel, Andy. Jacketed is often the easiest to start with for new reloaders and can present less complications. Keep it simple at first, especially for competitions, until you get some more reloading experience under your belt. You asked for a few suggestions specifically used in a G35, but there are numerous options out there...including coated.
  9. Welcome to the the forum, Flyfisher006! What do you like to shoot?
  10. Loaded/shot both BBI's & Bayou's. Both very good. Not much difference in accuracy noted. Honesty, I think I am the impediment to perfection there. I will say I prefer to load grooveless..just smoother. More bearing surface couldn't hurt though, right?
  11. Not moly "coated." Hi-Tek coated. Best start with jacketed.
  12. Not used in a G35, but if you want to try a coated bullet it is a mellow accurate load... 180 Bayou with 3.6 grains of N320 at OAL 1.135" yields ~750fps 135PF
  13. Sure. Now for the tough question... What powders can you get your hands on? 180 Hornady XTP with 3.4 grains of Alliant Bulls Eye at OAL 1.135" yields ~754fps 135PF 180 Hornady XTP with 3.7 grains of W231 at OAL 1.135" yields ~713fps 128PF 180 Hornady XTP with 4.5 grains of Alliant Power Pistol at OAL 1.135" yields ~771fps 138PF 155 Hornady XTP with 4.7 grains of Alliant Power Pistol at OAL 1.125" yields ~815fps 126PF (very close to the edge- test in your barrel!)
  14. You can kill two birds with one stone. Save $ and tailor a mellow practice load for your 35. Win win!
  15. I believe he is asking for opinions on the practicality aspect. It depends. Big guys can typically transition a longer/heavier gun much better than average-small stature competitors. Hit the range and test transitions to see where you start to slow down.
  16. Looks good. Obviously shoots good. You are a brave man.
  17. Completely independent loads with less powder and lighter bullets. 165 for Minor, 180 Major. Bayou TCG in diffent colors to easily see what's what.
  18. Welcome to the forum, Craig! Good choices. Best of luck at your events.
  19. Welcome! Yes, please tell us what you shoot.
  20. Follow Steve's advice, plus use a very light amount of One Shot. Minimize the mess and smooth out operation.I use a number of Lee dies and a few needed a good polish. The specs were fine..they just had machining marks. You can also attempt dialing back the amount of flair/belling used, but take care not to start shaving coating. It is a fine line with coated bullets. Good luck.
  21. LY-Norinco? Haven't run across that yet, but appreciate the heads up. I hand inspect every case and there are only a few head stamps I will not reload which include these...IMT, AmmoLoad, Freedom, Amerc, NNY (?). I don't load 9 Major or the list would be longer.
  22. First, I would check/measure the feedlips...could very well be out of spec. CMC springs are fantastic quality and hold up a heck of a lot longer than most. Also... The older style CMC original Power Mag followers are designed to have the freedom to move forward slightly. Try a Power Mag PLUS (+) follower, which is supported within the mag body and will not jump forward as it loads the last round.
