  1. Gerritm, you might start at 4.5 gr Titegroup and ladder up to 5 gr for your 95 grain bullets. Our 95 grain load chrono'ed at 126 PF (4.5 gr) but more powder definitely had less dot movement for us with a JP comp.
  2. Just being able to run the longer 147 Blue Bullets in my JP barrel was awesome. There's not much of a difference in dot movement going from a Blue 147 loaded to 1.135 " to 1.170 " OAL with the same powder charge. Changing the weights at similar power factor does change dot movement.
  3. The GLS is holding up great. Myself and a few others in the area have been using them for Tac Sports, Tac Sport Oranges, SP-01 Shadows and most recently, the Shadow 2. Thanks Freshrider for letting me know about this BOMB holster.
  4. Gerrit, I talked to Rob about this at the SW 3GN regional and ended up using a Trijicon Accupower 1-4 for my 3 Gun PCC. Rob also runs a Trijicon 1-4. There are times as you mentioned where even a 1.5-2 power is incredibly helpful. Skinny Sammies at distance are miserable with a 9mm and a 4+ MOA dot for example. Even with a small amount of magnification you make up more time on the "long" PCC shots than you theoretically save using just a red dot.
  5. As already mentioned, don't bother with cheap mags. Get the GLOCK brand. I and others have also had problems with ETS mags in our 9mm ARs. I have 4 Taylor Freelance +10s and 4 TTI base pads for easy removal when I have to mag change on a huge 3gun stage. I went with a MRO for my sight. I played with a Trijicon Accupower 1-4, Aimpoint, EOTECH, Fastfire and a few others but the MRO is the perfect blend of fast without being distracting for 3 gun. For USPSA I might think differently because I can baby the dot.
  6. Called CZ USA and was very firmly told all the S2s have a nitride finish. Polys just get the polycoat over nitride and come with different mags. Slavex mentioned this in another thread as well.
  7. One match admin thing that helps with turnaround for PCC is a staging table near the start facing into the berm. Folks can keep their PCCs bagged but in a convenient location. Unbagging happens into the berm and is a little bit easier for folks without carts or with bad backs.
  8. I'm now over 14,000 rounds on my JP GMR-13ish. As of now, I have only broken a firing pin at ~11k-12k rounds. To be absolutely fair, the gun was still running 90% with the pin sheared. However, my PCC acts as a loaner rifle at a local steels match. We have had 4 shooters run a 200 round match suppressed plus a side match after with that JP. You can get them absolutely filthy and they will still run. Typically in practice I'll go through 500-1000 rounds in a day. I still think the JP is the most reliable option, especially once you start getting past 5000 rounds. I have seen various other fun to borderline dangerous malfunctions in various other brand AR's and MPX PCCs. Everything from jams to drop in AR triggers "wearing out" in PCC's and going full auto.
  9. I have used it on a very bright Texas day on white-ish nasty dust bays. The illumination set to 11 was more than bright enough. I can't imagine a scenario where I would need it to be brighter.
  10. The Trijicon is 25 oz, vortex is 25.2 oz. I'm still very impressed with my Trijicon. I'm probably going to put a 2nd on my backup/loaner rifle.
  11. The mag release will eventually become easier to depress as you use it. If you want to accelerate the process for the weekend match, press it a LOT similar to breaking in a trigger through dry fire. You can use the ODIN extended mag release by drilling and tapping the JP button on the physical paddle portion of the release. The net result is more leverage to overcome the spring. From what I was told, the spring is intentionally designed to be stiff to ensure the magazines are retained in the gun. The GMR-15 magazine release is improved due to similar feedback from customers and uses an extended paddle / modified geometry to provide more leverage to overcome the stiffer spring.
  12. I'll second the JP PCC trigger with JP internals. I initially went with the JP because the trigger was both good and reliable. No regrets since and I'll be building a 2nd JP now that the GMR-15 is out.
  13. MSA Sordins. Just forget how expensive they are. The gel cups allow you to wear them comfortably all day in any weather. Howard Leights are alright and they will protect your hearing. I noticed a huge difference after 2, 3 and 4 hours of wearing each muff. The Sordins stay on my head all day instead of constantly moving other muffs to keep them relatively comfortable.
  14. If you're considering a FFP scope, Trijicon just released their 1-8 Accupower and from what I hear from my local shop, they are FLYING off the shelves for very good reason. I absolutely love mine as it checks all the boxes I had on my list. Very clear glass with a true 1x which my eye cannot distinguish distortion even at the very edge of the tube. The segmented circle reticle is very nice at 1x with brightness settings that truly go to "11." I have used this in the bright Texas sun. The first focal plane reticle on 8x is very nice as well. The reticle lines are thin while still being quickly usable and do not obscure realistic sized 3 gun targets by any means. As was previously mentioned, holds only really become usable at ~4-5x for 1-n variable power scopes and the Trijicon is no different. However, I'm fine with this because that's still more range of accurate holds than a SFP scope. I can think of a few stages in recent memory that had Skinny Sammies at ~100-150 yards with larger targets at 200-400 yards where I didn't necessarily need 8x or even 6x magnification for the long shots, but I did need the field of view to quickly pick up the Sammies. The weight of the Trijicon is on the higher end but it is still just slightly less than the Vortex 1-6 even though the Trijicon uses a 34 mm tube. You could bludgeon someone to death with the Trijicon. The construction is definitely Trijicon solid including the turrets are locking and feel ridiculously solid. The larger tube also gives me some wiggle room in my head position on 8x when some evil match director gives me a really, really bad shooting position. I'm sold on this scope so much so that I'll be buying a 2nd one soon because at the price these are selling for I can buy 2. I've used, owned or borrowed several other scopes including a Kahles k16i (my 2nd favorite now), Vortex HDii 1-6, Burris XTRII 1-5 and a Leupold VX6 1-6. The Kahles is obviously top of the line. Is the glass better than the Trijicon 1-8? Maybe? I can't tell any significant difference but someone with more experience than I have said he could see maybe a slight (2-5% out of 100%) difference. They are two different scopes and someone might prefer the SFP reticle of the Kahles and be willing to pay $500 more for those differences. I'll be buying another Trijicon. As for the Vortex, the GenII HD has obviously been a huge percent of the 3 gun market for good reason. I think the Trijicon will take over that spot simply because for a nearly identical price, you get clearer glass with higher magnification in a better package. I initially loved the Burris but have since shied away from the XTRII 1-5. Maybe the 1-8 will address some of the shortcomings of the 1-5, specifically the reticle size and glass clarity. I'll be buying a 2nd Trijicon.
  15. This is an ETS mag specific issue. I've had several crushed followers in my JP PCC. I cannot replicate the issue with any factory GLOCK mag. I still like the ETS mags for practice though since I have so many of them.
  16. JP posted a picture of a 357 Sig PCC one of their smiths made. It might be a one off but you could try to contact them to see if they can help out.
  17. The stock GLOCK 33 (31+2) spring worked fine for my TTI GLOCK extensions. If you go to a Taylor Freelance 41+1 kit you need the spring they ship with the kit. I have had nothing but success with the GLOCK big stick and a Taylor Freelance base pad (41+1). I like using the TF mags when you do not expect to reload. They are a little slower to remove and therefore disassemble for cleaning than the TTI extensions. You do clean your mags when they hit the sand right? If i'm reloading on a stage, I start with either an ETS 31 round mag or a GLOCK big stick+TTI extension and reload to a downloaded ETS 31 round mag or a standard GLOCK mag with a TTI basepad (23 round, 140mm). Now someone needs to make a +20 extension for GLOCKS because CZC just put out their Scorpion +20 basepad. I'm so happy that I live in America and we constantly 1-up each other on bigger and bigger capacity!!!
  18. I really like the Ghost 360 pouches for CZ mags. They retain the mags well while also allowing an easy, smooth pull to reload. The Ghosts also come with two physical mag pouches per attachment, one to face the bullets forward and one to face the bullets out. It's a nice to have options. The real Ghosts are inexpensive enough and they really are a spectacular product. I picked mine up from Ben Stoeger Pro Shop, quick shipping and just under $24 each.
  19. I'd sign up now if PCC was a division. Not sure if PCC isn't available, might look the week before and play it by ear.
