  1. You will be much happier with a truly open port, an extension tube and a proper lifter than with the laser engraving. Pick up the stock M2 and send it to a quality shotgun shop with an impeccable reputation.
  2. Try to give a CZ 75, CZ 75 SP01, and CZ Tac Sport a feel. The Tac sport is a single action only large frame model ideal for USPSA limited division, 23 rounds of 9mm in a 140mm mag or ~20 rounds of 40. Bigger grip and only comes in full dust cover. 75 is the short dust cover and SP01 is the full dust cover of the small frame, ~21 rounds of 9mm in a 140mm mag and a DA/SA trigger. These models are incredibly popular in Production division. Thinner grip, short or long dust cover. Either the Tac Sport or 75 can be upgraded with sights, grips etc. Try to feel both models and then shoot the pistol you enjoy more. If you shoot Pacleb, Kellc or Cawthon matches you're more than welcome to try my SP01.
  3. Nooks are too frustrating if you have fine dust, will lock them down until you wipe the screen thoroughly. Otherwise they are alright if you can't score a deal on Kindles. Kindles work very well in the bright sun for us. Our ROs also sync their phones as backups in case we have a device go down.
  4. I'd suggest what I did, which is very similar to Stealthy's method. There's a couple of threads in the 1911 forum about silicon carbide. I ended up using a 60 grit silicon carbide (ordered from Edge Pro on Amazon) sprinkled on JB Weld. I would definitely use 60 grit again, the grip turned out perfect. Not too aggressive like a PT aggressive cheese grater, more like a finer, grippier 3M deck tape. It's lasted about a month of dry fire and matches now which is much better than the grip tapes I have tried. Cleaned disassembled grip with 90% isopropanol. Used painter's tape to outline my grip area. Cleaned the exposed grip area with IPA again. Spread thin layer of standard JB Weld on the grip using an old gift card. I aimed for a layer just thick enough to not see the grip under the JB Weld. Poured silicon carbide over the grip until I could not see the JB Weld layer. Let the grip sit for 4 h undisturbed, then peeled off painter's tape. I used a hobby knife to clean any edges at this point which were not perfectly straight. Let the grip sit for 48 h undisturbed. Used a tooth brush to lightly brush off any non-adherent silicon carbide and remove silicon carbidethat had gotten into small crevices.
  5. Goldy, keep doing what you are doing. Don't let the haters get you down. Max didn't win his first Nationals, he even says so in this interview series. He won nationals after decades of hard work and dedication. Glitter baby, not bitter! I want to make a positive impact on this sport and I think Goldy does too. I will keep pushing to make this sport bigger and better. I will keep bringing new shooters to every match I shoot. I will happily watch people with positive energy grow and thrive, and in the process, watch them elevate the sport to a whole new level.
  6. Here's to hoping they stick with the Arcor (nitride) finish and just add different colors over the Arcor. The nitride finish is one of the big reasons I'd pick a Shadow 2 over the current Shadows.
  7. What load are you using? A reload optimized for your polymer gun may be less than optimal for the CZ.
  8. Give it a season. One full season of dry fire, live practice and matches. Approach everything with the mindset of mastering your new pistol. It takes time to change from what works, if you really want to change. If not, I'm sure that I'm not the only one in line to buy it.
  9. I did a ladder of 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 grains Bullseye with XTremes loaded to 1.165" OAL. Settled on 3.2 for ~129PF out of my M&P for USPSA.
  10. Springfield Range Officer was the path I was going to do when I planned on single stack. Springfield just came out with their Stainless Range Officer which comes with the fiber optic front sight. I've handled one and it shot just as well as the standard Range Officer model. Alternatively, Dawson offers their Competition Ready Range Officer for right around your budget and it comes ready to shoot single stack division as well (this was my plan).
  11. I prefer the CZ Tac Sport. While the Limited still shot surprisingly well, the Tac Sport fit my hand and recoiled in a much more consistent and controllable way.
  12. Followed a similar procedure to the post above to do my M&P grip. Thank you very much for the motivation to stop wondering and just do it! I ended up using a 60 grit silicon carbide that I ordered from Edge Pro on Amazon. They even included a hand written thank you note with the order, nice touch. I would definitely use 60 grit again, the grip turned out perfect. Not too aggressive like a PT aggressive cheese grater, more like a finer, grippier 3M deck tape. I didn't have much silicon carbide come off at the end, just a couple of sparkles during the first dry fire session, none after that. My procedure, similar to the above, is outlined below: Cleaned disassembled grip with 90% isopropanol. Used a tooth brush to lightly brush off any non-adherent silicon carbide and remove silicon carbide that had gotten into small crevices.
  13. Ugh, fine I'll leave Texas to shoot but I'll damn sure bring Texas beer with me.
  14. Drones are getting better with regard to noise. At the last big match I was at over 180 people looked up and "Oooh'ed" when the drone flew over the end of the shooters meeting. You can get some amazing angles with the drone. Think classic 3rd person views from any video game following the shooter through a course of fire. There are even drones that follow a RF wristband. Either way, drone or no drone, companies that support action sports are starting to notice. The Red Bull cars have been to matches. It's not some fantasy, it just takes real effort to show them the value, just like any other sponsor.
  15. I'd love to shoot a VEPR with irons, no comp and a capacity limit. There are more and more shotgun only matches starting up this year. Maybe someone with enough sway could suggest a division like this get recognized at a shotgun only match and go from there?
  16. Moto, the day anyone on this forum tries a back flip on a snowmobile I'll buy them a 6 pack. At MOST, I've brought MAYBE 20 people to action shooting matches in the past year. Yet, after seeing a snowmobile back flip happen on TV, you remembered it. That's the kind of exposure I want for this sport! The difference is that after seeing action shooting at the X-Games almost any person can buy (borrow, run-what-they-brung) a Production rig for under a grand and go out and try a match. If you don't think we should be trying to reach millions of people, that's fine. I do, it's possible, and more than anything I want to see what happens when a JJ Watt or Michael Phelps level athlete starts shooting as a junior then after 10 years of disciplined training later shows up at Nationals. I bet they would look a lot like Max. Steve, the way I got my "gamer" friend out shooting was showing him a video of a mag dump with an Open Division Saiga. Turns out he had always wanted to shoot a gun, and wouldn't you know it, I had plenty that he really liked to shoot. I honestly think if you put on a level 1 match with either target not too many people would give a shit. I will still go and I think most people here would too. If you want to put on a televised match sponsored by Monster with GoPro having first person perspectives on every pro and an NFL style "Skycam" then maybe using the IPSC targets wouldn't be so bad.
  17. I picked up a SP-01 from AA earlier in the year. Matt was EXTREMELY willing to answer questions when I emailed him. Whatever you decide on, I think you will be absolutely satisfied with the work Matt does. I stuck with the stock safety, love it. It's natural to take off and my strong hand thumb rides on it nicely. I went with the tactical rear sight which, if I remember correctly, is the competition sight with the top corners (sharp points) filed down off. I'd be happy with either version. I went with a CZ custom front and love the long fiber optic rod. Picked up the CZ custom aluminum grips with the grip tape because I wanted the gold color. The grip is surprisingly good on these and the aluminum grips definitely thinned out the overall width compared to the rubber factory grips. If you want ultra aggressive grips, there are always the "lemon graters." VZ's feel just like G10 handled knives if you have ever felt one of those.
  18. Here's a question. If changing the target to the IPSC style headless targets was the only concession to allowing IPSC style shooting events to be featured in the X-Games, would you be in favor of doing it? In the video Max classifies action shooting as an "extreme sport." The X-Games IS extreme sports and they reach an insane number of people worldwide in comparison to any current televised programming featuring action shooting. Live attendance alone at the 2015 X-Games was 138,000 people with live online and televised numbers in the millions. Can you imagine the quality and quantity of junior athletes you could attract to the sport if action shooting was a part of the X-Games? How many kids could you help transition from playing the latest "Call of Duty" to learning proper firearm handling and actually shooting a match? The list of sponsors for the 2016 X-Games includes AT&T, Coors Light, Intel, LifeProof, America’s Navy, GoPro, Harley-Davidson, Jeep, Monster Energy, Oakley, Polaris, Skype and Xbox. With sponsorship like that backing a match, can you imagine the quality of stages? Forget the match itself, how many local matches could be helped out with the kind of financial infusion sponsorships of that size would bring to USPSA? I really don’t care what the cardboard targets look like. I care about exposing as many people to shooting in a positive way as possible. Every person I’ve brought out to try “action shooting” as a fun day at the range has done two things: left with a big shit eating grin and asked if they can come to the next match.
  19. I've had good luck with 3.2 grains of Bullseye with a 147 grain RN Blue Bullet. OAL for my load is 1.150". These are out of a CZ SP-01, chrono'ed at 130 PF. While this is a different powder, I have loaded Titegroup to similar powder charges as Bullseye using Blue Bullets (out of a M&P) and other 147 grain bullets to hit 129-131 PF depending on the bullet. Maybe start a bit lower than 3.2 grains of Titegroup and work up?
  20. I Describe, these were all tested in the manner you indicated during loading. This was not relevant to my issue with another bullet profile, but is always sound loading advice. I was having feeding issues, now solved with the load listed, which you may have read about in another post.
  21. IDescribe, I shot about 200 of my load out of the CZ. I actually tested same recipe at 1.125, 1.135 and 1.150 OAL: 3.2 grains Bullseye, 147 grain Blue Bullet Round nose with a CCI primer. I experienced similar accuracy with each load and decided to keep 1.150" OAL to stay consistent with a load that shoots well in my M&P, among other reasons. This forum has other reports of variation in maximum allowable OAL in CZ's. In my barrel with this load, I get great function. Your barrel may be different and there are ways to remedy that to allow longer loads should your needs require it. Just sharing my experience.
  22. Just an update. I'm able to load Blue Bullet 147 grain round nose out to 1.150, profile made all the difference. Thanks to Rowdy and others for the advice.
  23. Hopefully so! I was very excited when they announced the expanded DVC line. Hard chrome wasn't my thing. If they add a black DVC Limited in DLC and the 3-Gun model this year it's going to be a difficult choice which model to order first.
  24. Yes, the slide is listed as DLC but the frame is listed as "blued"...hopefully a mistake on the site.
  25. I'd be interested to know if the all black DVC has DLC on the frame finish or if they chose to blue it as STI's site lists for the 3-Gun model.
