  1. Hmm - He must have the accuracy going for him then, since he seems to come out ahead of you each month. Just sayin' Linda Chico (L-2035) 2010 Toys for Tots Match Statistician Nice one Linda!

    New Gun!

Picked up my new(used) shotgun yesterday from the FFL. Very excited, my first long gun. I got a good deal on a Rem 11-87 on GunBroker. Only problem is: Work today, Toys for Tots match tomorrow, travel Sun-Wed, all day business meetings on Thursday. I'm going to have to wait at least a week before I can take it for a ride!

    OCC

I saw that the other night. I didn't like them painting the Claymores tan. I know it matched the bike, but I like seeing the claymore green.
  4. Jack and Linda must have ordered it....it looks like it's going to get up to about 56 degrees on Saturday. Of course it will be close to 35-40 when we start though!
  5. I can't comment because I've only been doing this since last year. This is 100% correct. Sounds like your veteran shooter who is an RO needs to brush up on his rules. Also, you guys need to have a rule book handy. If you don't have one, print it out from the USPSA site. I am an RO and I consult mine at least every other match for a rules clarification. It is extremely difficult to have all of the rules memorized. Your little Blue Book will help you more times than you think. BTW, if you want the rule(s): 9.9.1 Moving scoring targets which present at least a portion of the highest scoring area when at rest following the completion of their designed movement, or which continuously appear and disappear, will always incur failure to shoot at and/or miss penalties (exception see Rule 9.2.4.4). See Appendix B2 or B3 for the percent of target to be presented. 9.9.2 Moving scoring targets, which do not comply with the above criteria are considered disappearing targets and will not incur failure to shoot at or miss penalties except where Rule 9.9.3 applies. 9.9.3 Moving scoring targets will always incur failure to shoot at and miss penalties if a competitor fails to activate the mechanism which initiates the target movement
  6. Got mine from SRS last year. SRS was great. By the way, just used the Sordins today for the first time for something NOT gun related! I went out to blow leaves in the yard and hooked up my Ipod to them. Worked like a charm! Oh yeah, and I had my Rudys on.....gotta love gear that will multi-task. Back to the original post, try SRS tactical. Price is good, and they have the gel inserts.

    Life is hard

    I'll just add .. "You're right, I'm wrong...I'm sorry"
  8. I keep beating this in to my GF's head. "I don't care if you just watched the person unload it, you check it yourself when it's handed to you, ALWAYS."
  9. I use them to clean the gun. Not for reloading. Just never though of it, will have to see what it's like next time. As for brand/type, etc.....they're latex, and I get them at a Restaurant supply store. Box of 500 I think costs $5.
  10. 3GN for sure. I have not shot 3G yet, hopefully some day. So I love watching the show. I like that it's just competition. Plus, I like watching Mark Wills and his training with some of the pros. Nothing earth shattering to learn, but always cool to see guys like Travis Tomassie giving tips. Of course this isn't saying I won't watch Top Shot 2 when it airs.....I just like watching 3 Gun Nation a whole lot more.
  11. It looks like you're trying to use Hollow points.....try switching to FMJs and see if that works.
  12. I've been using Zero 124 FMJ ( the box says 124, but they really weigh 125 ), and 4.3gn of Titegroup. I get a consistent 135PF out of my SP01.
  13. Rule Book From the current Rule Book, Appendix E4: Checkering, stippling, and/or tape may only be applied to the areas illustrated by the dashed line boundaries which include the frontstrap and backstrap. Grip Tape cannot be applied to any part of the slide, trigger, trigger guard, or any lever or button. Grip Tape or Grip Sleeves cannot disengage a grip safety. You'll have to open the link to see the picture, but basically, almost the whole grip can be altered with grip tape, checkering, or stippling.
  14. Wow, that isn't right. That's like playing the front nine in golf, going in to the clubhouse and sitting down to lunch, and then coming out later for the back nine and expecting to be next. Like DrawandDuck said, End of the line.
  15. If the RO uses the complete "unload and show clear" statement which is preceded by "If you are finished" the responsibility belongs to the shooter from the very beginning of that particular range command. Pat I agree with you, however, I will go a little further and say, the responsibility belongs to the shooter when they show up to shoot the match. No one is responsible for your gun but you. If it goes bang at the wrong time, it's your responsibility, no one elses. BTW, Scott, I was thinking of shooting that match, so on Sunday I was looking at the results for sh*ts and giggles, and noticed the DQ. My first thought was "what the heck did he do?". Because like you stated, I've shot with him a number of times and would absolutely consider him a safe shooter. Sucks that he DQ'd, but I wouldn't beat yourself up over it.
  16. I don't know about the rest of you, but I always have a problem with the second "ass" through the press........
  17. If the Ex had a better lawyer wouldn't she have gotten the guns too?
  18. I have that feature built in to my CZ SP01. I believe the technical term is the "my big fat thumb on the slide release" feature. Occasionally my thumb will rest on the slide release causing the slide to not lock back. I personally don't like it, so I don't think I would purchase a follower that would cause it to happen all the time.
  19. What division are you shooting? I shoot Production, and I know for me, when I started, I would start walking a stage and concentrate on where my reloads would be...before I had the correct round count. What was happening was I was actually planning to fail. After having a number of back to back weeks with FTE's, I changed my walk through process. I now walk the COF a number of times ensureing that I see all of the total targets, and only when I know where EVERY target is, do I THEN go back and plan my reloads.
  20. Currently planning on shooting this one, looks like it should be a lot of fun.
  21. I've been enjoying this show too. Anything that isn't a reality show these days is a good start!
  22. To answer your question as direct as possible, 14 cents per round. Based on what I can buy Win White Box 115FMJ, they cost me 26 cents per round retail. A lot will depend on which Powder/primers, how much you load in them, did you pay shipping, did you pay hazmat fees, but to give you a rough idea, my personally, this is what I have show so far for my setup: Loading Zero bullets 125FMJ, with 4.3gn Titegroup Standard box of 50 or 100 Winchester White Box at local Academy Sports: $13.50 or $25.99, so based on these numbers figure $260/1000 My reloads, using the 1x fired brass I bought online a few months back, $142.64/1000. If I use the 1x fired brass that my buddy gave me for free, $121.21/1000 So you can see that either way, if you're loading in large qtys, you can save a lot of money. More info My calcs were based on 8# jug of TG bought at Gunshow for $120, and Win Primers for $150/5000 bought at Gun show, so no tax, and no shipping, and no hazmat. Also, you mentioned buying brass for .18 per piece. That is STEEP. I'm sure it's good stuff, but start scrounging at your local range, start picking up EVERY piece of brass that comes out of your gun, and then look on websites like the Classifieds here on Enos, or www.thehighroad.org, or www.firingline.com, I got mine from one of those two, can't remember which. You will save a lot of money if you can get a bunch of brass, and then hold on to it, make sure you pick it up after you fire it. Hope this helps.
  23. Since I'm at the airport waiting to fly home from a week long business trip, I figured I'd add a few to the list: Hate people that stand on the movable sidewalk and block the entire way so you can't get by. Hate people that pack their entire closest and then bring the suitcase on the plane as a "carry on" REALLY HATE the people that bring those large "carry ons" on the plane, and when they're too heavy too lift....ask me to help them with it since I'm sitting close. IF YOU CAN'T LIFT IT BY YOURSELF, YOU SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO CHECK IT. NO MATTER WHAT!!!! ( sorry for the all caps, but that one really chaps my ass ) Hate people that don't understand the concept of a metal detector. Were you honestly surprised that your cell phone and keys set off the metal dectector? When you got to the airport, did you not know you were going to have to go through a "metal" detector?!
  24. I agree, I was actually going to post this myself after reading all of the other posts first. Personally I think you should load up the mags to their limit in Production regardless of capacity, but I'd settle for loading to 15. There are already limits to length and overall size of the gun, so you couldn't get away with Big Sticks, but at least you can load to the max capacity of your production gun.
