  1. For OAL, use the info you see as a guide, not Gospel. You need to test various OALs in your gun to see what accuracy you get. I just did this last week with SP01. I loaded up 20 rounds each of VV N320 at various OALs (same powder charge, 4.3gn ): 1.130 through 1.165 in .005 increments. ( it helps to have the Redding Comp Seating die to make this process easier ). I then tested all at 15 yards, using a rest. I found that 1.155 was best, with 1.160 and 1.165 a close second. So you need to work up the load to your gun.
  2. Your first few, and last few, will have different OALs also. When all four stations are not full, the OAL will vary, slightly, some times as much as .004. If you are getting .004 from round to round with all stations full, then there is another issue, like shellplate not being snug. Also, make sure you are using the correct seating die stem. The stem is two sided(ended), one end for FMJ/round nose, one for JHP. That could possibly make a difference as well. One other thing to consider, when comparing OALs are you comparing same headstamps on the brass? Win vs Win, RP vs RP? If you are comparing different headstamps, you could get some fluctuations.
  3. I was bored tonight and excited for the match, so I started to look at my driving route to the match. For those that are familiar with the range and the roads in and out, I could use some advice. I’m coming all the way from SC, so just trying to avoid any extra time in the car. I was planning on coming down I-4 to US-27, down to CR-630, over to the range. However, I just looked at Universal Shooting Academy’s website, and the directions from Orlando Airport (which I will basically drive past), says take the FL Tpke down to SR60 to SR630. This looks like its 40 miles longer. Is US-27 that bad? Is the longer route actually shorter time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Welcome Nate. If you can't find the info you're looking for in the CZ subsection, try this site: CZ Forum. The Enos forums are great and you'll get loads and loads of useful information on anything you can think of. The site I listed is CZ specific. Lots of CZers like myself (SP01) exchanging CZ specific info.
  5. 4.2 gns of TiteGroup can be double loaded in a 9mm case, if you aren't looking. It's fairly obvious if you take a quick look, because the double charge will be visible. But I belive there is still enough room to seat the bullets, so, yes, you can double it. VV N320, 4.3gns? no way, I tested to see what would happen when i first switch over to the N320, and a double charge overflowed the case.
  6. There are some really good ones on this site. I made the swinger myself, worked pretty well. Breaks down easy enough to fit in the car too to take to the range( and i have a ford fusion ). My link
  7. I was about 13 years old, my buddy and I decide to play with gasoline. Out in the street behind my house, we pour a small spot of gas and light it. Cool! So then we pour some gas out in a line about 2 feet long and light it, Really Cool!. So my buddy then has a great idea….”I’ll start pouring the gas, and you light it. We can then pour a longer line”. What did I say? You got it….”OK!” Obviously we didn’t understand the flammable properties of gasoline at the time…but we were about to find out. The first “Oh Sh*t” moment came when the match hit the puddle of gas and the flame took off straight for the can still in my buddy’s hand. The second “Oh sh*t” moment was when he finally reacted to the flame and dropped the can, it rolled across the street, pouring lit gasoline all the way across the road! Thankfully it didn’t set the brush on fire when it got to the other side. It ran out about 2 feet from the edge. But as we were standing there, in shock at what just happened, we are now watching a two foot flame, across the width of a fairly busy road…and we hear a car is coming. Enter “Oh Sh*t” moment #3….so we ran like hell into my backyard and kept on running past the front of the house all the way to his house two blocks away. Gun related moment: I had been shooting only a few months. Stage was: Draw, pick up a brief case, shoot first couple of targets one handed, drop case in a barrel laying on its side, then continue course of fire. When I dropped the case, I reloaded and continued the stage, when I got to my next reload spot, I reached down to my mag pouches and grabbed a handful of air. “Oh Sh*t” What I didn’t realize, but what everyone watching had seen, was when I flung the case into the barrel, it knocked mags #2, 3, & 4 off of my belt. Since I didn’t feel it, hear it, or see it happen, along with I was able to grab the one mag that hadn’t gotten knocked off, I had no idea. I was now downrange, and completely clueless as to what happened, until I finally hear someone yell “they’re by the barrel!”. Yes it was coaching, but I was newbie, so everyone took pity on me and helped.
  8. I do it very similar. I like the dummy rounds in the mags especially when you practice reloads. The weight of an empty mag cannot compare to a full one ( or with 10 for production ). You have to practice like you play. Practicing with empty mags seems pointless to me. Like Scott, I have dummy rounds (no primer or powder), and then I used to a Sharpie to scibble green lines on them(so they stand out even better). I store them in a small tupperware container on the work/reloading bench. When I set up to dry fire, I make sure all ammo is out of the way, cases closed etc. Empty the mags, double and triple check. Then load up from the tupperware full of dummy rounds.
  9. I recently had the same issue. I found it was FC cases with silver colored primers ( they weren't my cases so I don't know what primers they actually were ). They would not decap on the first stroke, some took 2 and 3 strokes. All my Win cases deprime just fine on one stroke. Anyway, glad I saw this thread, going to have to file down the pin like others suggested. i had not heard that tip before.
  10. I use IE and Google Chrome, both stay logged in for me.
  11. This is the only one I found on the site, is the one you are looking for? Course Template CD
  12. I have dealt with this my whole life ( I'm 40 now ). I refer to it as going into shock. The blood rushes out of my head, I get faint, sweaty, and if seated or standing, will pass out. The triggers could be as innocent as a paper cut to a buddy telling me how he broke a bone, or some gory mishap. I don't have to see blood for it to happen, you can simply tell a gory story and I will "go into shock". Thankfully I know all of the signs now, after much experience, so if someone is telling a particular nasty story, I'll tell them to stop, or if in a group setting, just walk away. I usually have to explain why later because I don't want to appear rude. But at 6'4" tall, and just north of 300 lbs, the alternative is me hitting the floor during their story! I've never been diagnosed, as I always took it to be a psychological response. Needless to say when I go to the doctor and get shots, or blood tests, I make sure to tell the attending my dilemma so they know there is nothing wrong with me, just a normal response to what they are doing. 9 times out of 10 the person knows exactly what I'm talking about, and makes me lay down when they are taking care of me, as this will prevent it from happening. The 1 out of 10 is the PITA situation. Reason why is they don't know what I'm saying and start freaking out and want to call a doctor in. I then have to calmly tell them to relax, I'll be fine as long as I lay down. Kind of ironic that I'm the one that has to put them at ease! Anyway, point is, most likely it's just a natural reaction that you will not be able to avoid. At least that is the way for me. Just have to learn to deal with it. Oh yeah, and don't stick your finger in an open slide!
  13. Doh! Ironically enough, during our match yesterday, we got to a stage and sitting there on the table was a metal rod that someone had left behind that looks almost identical to yours!
  14. I love the Birchwood Casey Synthetic Gun Scrubber! When I do a detailed strip and clean, that is what I use. Just hose down the parts until the liquid runs clear. Just need to make sure you oil them good, because that stuff will make every ounce of oil/lube disappear.

That has always been one of my favorite Far Sides. Another favorite is my Avatar..."when potato salad goes bad"
  16. Necessary? No. Does it make it easier? Yes. Tedious Process? Not really. When I start a reloading session, I dump about 200-300 cases in a cardboard box lid. I use my hands and make sure they’re all lying on their sides, not sticking up on end. This takes about 15 seconds. I then spray the case lube on them and set aside. I then load my primers in the primer tube. By the time I’m done, the lube is dry enough to pour the cases into the empty case bin. Start reloading. I don’t see it as tedious.
  17. What i am talking about: I loaded Zero 124FMJ(which actually weigh 125gn) with both TiteGroup and Vit N320 TG - 4.3gn, 1.150 OAL proved most accurate N320 - 4.3gn, 1.140 OAL proved most accurate FWIW, I've drank the Kool-Aid and have switched over to N320 exclusively. You have to compare them side by side, but all I can say is the 320 just feels better. To give you an anaology, recoil with the TG feels like catching a baseball in a mitt on the palm. 320 feels like catching the same ball, in the webbing. I hope it does somthing for close to double the price..lol Buy in bulk with a group and you can get a good rate at Powder Valley. So not double the price. Plus, if you divide the cost of a jug by the cost per bullet, you might be paying 1 cent more per bullet. I'd rather pay the extra for a better shooting bullet.
  18. I would just like to add to this statement. I can load out to SAAMI specs on a 124gn bullet in my CZ SP01 ( 1.169" ), however, after spending a lot of time behind the chrono, I've found different powders and different loads will be more accurate at different OAL's. I just wanted to add my two cents. 19. Trying to make sense about an organization that crowns a National Champion with no playoff system?
  20. Isn't Nebraska in the Big 12? I was looking for the member with the Wisconsin logo for their avatar. They were accepted into the Big 10 last year (June), they officially start July 1, 2011.
  21. Yes, we are lucky. We have a system that we book travel through, and for hotels it's up to you to pick one. We have to stay under $200, but they prefer if you keep it under $150. I will always book a cheaper Residence Inn or Courtyard further away if its cheaper, just so I can stay with the Marriott brand and get my points. For airlines...ugh...we just switched over to American as our preferred. After two flights...i'm already not a fan. I've had loads of good experience with Continental, so switching is tough. AA's website BLOWS! Try and track a flight and it takes you 5 mins to get there with a mobile device. Continental used to be a snap. Oh well...at least the company lets me keep my points earned from business trips for personal. If they didn't, that would really stink.
  22. I used to travel a lot for business and was able to hit Marriott Gold Elite Status in the past. Unfortunately I didn't travel as much in 2010. I only stayed 33 of the required 50 nights to achieve Gold Status for 2011. I was resigned to the fact that I was "only" going to be Silver Elite this year. However, I just got a letter in the mail thanking me for my continued business, and even though I didn't achieve the required stays, they are making me a Gold member for 2011!! How's that for customer service?! What's the big deal you may say? Look at it this way....Gold status enables me to acquire points faster, which in turn can be used to stay free nights when I go to major matches! It really cuts your shooting costs down when you can stay two nights at a nice hotel and not pay.

If I knew when these SOBs threw the papers on my yard, I'd wait for them and throw stuff back at their car. I cannot stand these friggin things. They go from my driveway/yard, right into the garbage.
