Faceplate bearing kit install on Dillon 650
rishii replied to cecil's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Yes on bending the wire and tighten the shell plate until there’s no wobble in it, but still advances smoothly -
Own a Hornady LNL progressive, how good is a 650?
rishii replied to SweetToof's topic in General Reloading
I’ve never seen a lock n load, but a buddy that swears by his watched me load ammo on my 650, and told me his press won’t do that i can load 100 rounds in around 5 minutes, 800 rounds an hour is fairly easy -
I’ve run Schumann 4 port hybicomp barrels for a long time, yes they do need a tiny bit more powder to make major yes your scope set up is critical, to far forward and your scope will get blasted, and yes they are loud and the gun shoots flat and having said all that, my next gun will have a KKM the problem with running a hybicomp barrel is you’re stuck with a single source manufacturer and should you ever have to replace the barrel, you’d better hope that they haven’t changed their specs on them, svi used to sell a 4 port hybicomp barrel, now it looks like the rib goes almost all the way back to the top locking lugs my current gun has a Schumann blank 4 port length ribbed barrel that replaced a 4 port hybicomp barrel, I’d like to get another one to convert the gun to 9 but they’re out of stock and may never be available again

My experience is the same, I ran my open gun for a couple of months without a buff and the difference was noticeable without the buff the recoil impulse was noticeably sharper

I owned that truck, a Toyota 2wd, 4 speed manual, crank windows with the 4 cylinder 22r engine low maintenance and simple that I could fix it myself replaced it with 4wd, 5 speed manual, extend cab the 4wd I never needed it until I did the 5 speed stick is my anti theft device because the kids now days don’t know how to drive one and the extend cab is great, not quite big enough to hold an adult, but it big enough to hold groceries, jackets and the other stuff that won’t fit behind the seat of a standard cab

Flying: Hardsided handgun case inside of softsided luggage
rishii replied to ddc's topic in Travel, Locations, Ranges, etc.
I’ve had tsa inspect the gun in front of me, and I’ve had it thrown on the belt and I’m assuming they did behind the wall i have my name and phone number on the outside of my case, and run a cable from my padlocks thru the frame of the suitcase I've had airline personnel complement me on my setup, with the last one saying they’d have to take the whole suitcase to steal my guns? -
I Use the CP buffs and I change them out about once a year, part of the bad rap buffs have goes back to the old Wilson black shockbuff, those would cut, swell and fall apart in the gun causing all kinds of problems

Steel grips!?! Are they really worth it!?
rishii replied to IDAHOAASHOOTER's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I also run a 6” with a bushing barrel and lightened slide and like Intel6, I also run 165s, it tracks better and cycles faster than for me than the heavier bullets -
that rule goes back to days of the holster test, which tested the ability of your holster to retain the gun it included jumping over a 18” vertical Obstacle, jumping up and rotating 360 degrees on a vertical axis and landing, and might have included a360 degree forward roll, and if you used a retaining strap during the holster test it had to be used for the match. If I did any of that now, I’d hurt myself

I tried the one load for all also and gave up i settled on 4 gr of w231 for all my 9mm loads and just changed the bullet weights 115 blue bullets, 135 PF thru my pcc 124 blue bullets, barely minor thru my production gun 135 blue bullets, 135 PF thru my prod. and SS guns I haven’t noticed any leading problems using the blue bullets in my pcc and use the same bullets for my open gun with no problem

I’ve shot them in the past, they must have work because I don’t remember anything bad about them

I use loctite 271 and use a small butane torch to heat up the screw to cook the loctite its been a while since I’ve looked, but I think loctite has a expiration date

Years ago I did a side by side comparison between a edge and a svi sight tracker same ammo, shoot one gun, put it down pick up the other one, and the svi shot noticeably softer, the advantage of the sight tracker was because the front sight didn’t move, it stayed in focus in recoil, the same way the old school comp guns mounted the sight on the comp instead of the slide, also the lightened slide help with muzzle rise, but the biggest advantage it had was the tungsten flgr that gun weighted a ton, or at least it felt like it. The “new” sight block gun of today are like the old pin guns from the the early 80’s

He ran a 24c for a while, I ran a 24e, the new cmc feels nicer we both ended up yanking our hyperfire triggers out and replacing them, the hyperfire was a huge improvement over a stock A2, but it felt mushy, almost like a glock trigger with a short reset

rocksett vs red loctite vs loctite 680 (green, retaining compound)
rishii replied to nhyrum's topic in General Gunsmithing
I use 272 on my comps and never had one loose up, I’ve used 271 in the past and had comp turn after a practice session -
Colt or cmmg should work also replace the roll pin at the same time

One of my buddies decided to be beta tester and bought one and I gotta say it’s nice, the break is pretty Crisp, not a fine 1911 style glass rod breaking crisp, but better than my hyperfire if it survives his abuse, I’m getting one, obtw this guy can break an anvil

Clear Primer Pickup or filler Tube
rishii replied to OneEyedSam's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I got a few clear pickup tube, they’re old and I got them with my old Dillon 450 I read somewhere that Dillon used to use them but stopped and switched to aluminum -
What scope and mount are you running

In addition to brake cleaner, I’ve been using crc silicon spray from Walmart it cheap, the carrier is acetone and drys quickly and it leaves a coat of silicon behind the spray isn’t as strong as brake cleaner so there less of a chance of getting blasted by it when it ricochets off the parts

Activator Question for stage builders
rishii replied to CrashDodson's topic in Target & Prop Design and Construction
At my club most of the cables are 10’ long with a loop on one end and 2’ of light chain on the other all snap linked together on a extension cord reel. The chain give us the ability to take up slack without having to move stuff, and by having all the cables the same length it saves us the hassle of looking for the ideal long or short one -
The slideride pro’s older proven design swappable dot sizes con’s its a pita to sight in sight off set to the bore is high its long and extends over the ejection port and requires the extractor and ejector to be tuned for reliable ejection the MRDS pro’s shorter which helps with ejection usually lower than the slideride which helps with the sight offset con’s we’re all beta testers, the c-more rts2 is on its 4th revision, the ddp which when they came out a bunch of guys switched because it was a leupold and better, now I read about them going back for repair, the new holosun the jury’s still out on

The standard answer is shooters connection I’ve used the smaller tournament series elite bag for years and it’s held up well despite the fact the I tend to abuse stuff https://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/Shooters-Connection-Tournament-Series-Shooting-Bag-PRO-II-P4512.aspx
