RBRADY
Thanks everyone. Great stuff - this is going to help a lot of beginners out. Keep 'em coming. When it dies down I'll type a decoding chart to help newbies know what letters like VV, AA, WST means. Did you get the time to make this chart? nhglyn
38 Super............. VV N105, for me, is soooooo far ahead of anything else I have used in my open guns. List includes 7625, 4756, 3N38, and 3N37. N105 is just plain better in every way than all of them. Only problem is availability but, after the order I received a feww months ago, I should be set for a long time.

Hank Ellis
12ga - 1oz load Hodgdon Clays Clean burning. Light recoil. Very reasonable chamber pressures. Inexpensive and can be found anywhere. 12ga - 1 1/8oz - 2 3/4 or 3 dram load Hodgdon International Clays Clean burning. Light recoil compared to Titegroup. More reasonable chamber pressures compared to Clays. Inexpensive but not often carried in stock in local stores. Usually have to order.

Acetyl
I feel like an odd ball after reading the prior posts. The first powder I picked up was Unique (local and easy). Have not noticed (with my particular shooting routines) any excessive (out of the norm) powder build up. I haven't noticed any smoke accumulation but perhaps it is because I haven't used anything other than Unique. Still experimenting. I am using Lee/Lyman load data. .45 ACP, 230grs, RN (Rainer), Unique 5.9-6.0grs (Lee) for plinking / target practice Am I barking up an old tree? Should I "get with the program" and move on to Clays? Thanks, Acetyl

safenate
I've been able to locate some American Select, 8#. So i'm using it for 9x19, 40, & 45. Planning on H335 for .223, eventually.
blaster113
I mainly load .40 major, a little 9mm and stick with two powders. N320 is my preferred powder with Titegroup as a backup. N320: light recoiling, very clean burning, expensive and can be hard to obtain Titegroup: snappier recoil, burns a little dirty, half the price of N320
XRe
Current: .40 - N320 for any type of head .38 Supercomp - N105, baby. Nothing flatter, and its well within SAAMI spec!!! Sweet! Its on the dirty side, relative to the IMR stuff, so its a tad higher maintenance, but the dot movement and stability of the gun is far better in my gun... diablodawg
Question: I have reloaded 9mm and .40 on a buddy's machine a while ago, and recently bought my own for 9mm and .45acp; what would be a good powder to use for both? I used VV320 previously, but the concensus here seems to be Clay's or Titegroup for .45. Thanks.
CocoBolo
I use WST in 9 mm, 40, and 45 all make good loads, both jacketed and Moly coated lead. 9 mm 125gr Jacketed at 4.4 gr 40 S&W 180gr Jacketed at 5.1 gr 45 acp - 200gr lead at 4.7 gr. 40 S&W with 185gr Precision Moly Coated aka black bullets 4.8 gr. Cleaner than Tight group and less temp sensative. Mild report and fairly soft. I tried N320 in 40 and 45 and it is very clean and more of a push than a snap, took more powder than it should, also $33.00 per pound, WST I paid $111.00 for 8 lbs.
