  1. It might be a referendum, it might be that people disliked that choice the least, it might be that more voting members know him. There are any number of variables that could have driven his successful bid for president. I don't think there is an incontrovertible explanation as to the dynamics.
  2. Why is the term "dysfunctional" the first thing that leaps to my mind lately when I think of my favorite sport? I remember the good old days when the worst thing that annoyed me was slackers on my squad who wouldn't help reset.
  3. This would be for a jury to decide. A jury has very wide latitude in awarding general damages. They will take what plaintiff says about how this impacted their life and attach a dollar value to that. Awards from different juries for similar fact patterns can vary widely. One jury could take your point and think that plaintiff could still shoot other disciplines and award a low amount. Another might believe that USPSA was the sole purpose of plaintiff's life and come back with a high award. Since COVID, we have seen a huge surge in awards for general damages across the board. No idea why or if it will continue, but there it is.
  4. A couple points, and I have played in this area of litigation for over 30 years. 1. A complaint, is as pointed out by others already, only what plaintiff is alleging. A plaintiff can allege that the moon is made of blue cheese. This complaint is more specific in certain points than most though. Some of these allegations seem to at least have some factual support on first blush. 2. Do not expect a detailed explanation of their defenses in USPSA's answer. There will simply be blanket denials. This is standard practice, and does not indicate USPSA is trying to hide anything or is doing something nefarious. 3. This will not move forward quickly. It is civil litigation. There will initially be paper discovery which will likely take months, if not longer. Then depositions will be set. There will be a lot of depos due to the number of individuals in USPSA that will need to be deposed. Of course, the plaintiff will also be deposed. 4. Some have mentioned this is an E&O claim. It is not. This is a D&O (Directors and Officers) loss. E&O covers negligence causes of action (mistakes), D&O affords some coverage for intentional acts of directors and officers of the corporation. 5. The carrier will be hard pressed to disclaim coverage because/if their insured didn't pay their fees. Insurance contracts have specified conditions under which coverage can be disclaimed. Even then, disclaiming coverage or rescinding the policy is at best, an uphill battle. It appears in this case the carrier would need to claim material misrepresentation and attempt to rescind the policy. That rarely, rarely is successful and would end up in its own litigation via a dec action. Also expensive for the carrier. 7. This is not just a matter asking for injunctive relief to have the plaintiff reinstated in USPSA. The plaintiff is additionally asking for compensatory and punitive damages for the actions of the organization. Hope this helps some.
  5. Thanks guys. Yeah moving from Mecca of the shooting world is gonna be tough.
  6. A couple of things. 1. Confidentially is only a requirement sometimes. 2. One of the demands is for injunctive relief reinstating membership. Insurance companies can throw money at claims but have no power to force their insured to comply with injunctive demands. I don't think money will make this go away. 3. Ugh.
  7. Considering moving to St. George. Anyone know how much USPSA shooting goes on? I've shot Nationals in Hurricane, so I know they have a huge range there. Just trying to get a feel for how many matches I could expect. Thxs!
  8. Just a FWIW from an old guy who just shoots the sport now because I find it fun. I am trying LO out because I think it might be fun. My favorite gun through the years was a CZC Tac Sport that dragged me from D to A in Limited. I just really like the feeling of the gun. I slapped an original Shadow top end with an optic I had onto it. Steel framed gun with a great SA trigger and powder-puff loads. Maybe I will like it, maybe not. Maybe I buy a new 2011 toy if I like this, maybe not. Either way I like the chance to try the division. I leave the more cerebral issues to those with skin in that game.
  9. Have you not seen what goes on at co-ed softball leagues? Sadly, I find this the rule rather than the exception. Nice use of kerfluffled BTW!
  10. ^^^^ This. 40 minor out of a TS is just silly fun to shoot.

    TSO with SRO

Sorry, I was unclear there. The TS was from CZC. The slide and dustcover cuts were from a guy who is out of business now. Springer Precision did the optics cut/plate for the SRO. Just got it back from Springer and it has worked fantastic the one time I was able to get to the range. More rounds needed down the pipe to give a reliability report but Springer's stuff has always been top notch in my experience.

SRO on an original TS from CZC.
  13. Count me as one. I already had the slide on my CZC Tac Sport milled for an SRO in anticipation of this being green-lighted as a provisional division. I have always shot the TS better and never got used to the DA/SA curved trigger of my Shadow. A lot do, I'm just not one of them.
  14. Mine should be coming back any day now. I shoot irons with the accuracy of throwing rocks and figured I would beat the rush. Worst case scenario I use it in 2-Gun.
  15. MPA definitely is. Mine was delivered last week. Extremely nice quality and a very flat shooter.
  16. Terminal crack in the slide of my Open gun. Any recommendations on bringing the old girl back to life? Some gunsmiths I have checked with will do it but the turn-around time is....significant. If it makes any difference this was a FGW build. Thxs!
  17. I've done this as well. Needed to do some minor fitting of the barrel, 9mm mags, and the 9mm extractor. Maybe the 40 would work, I never tried it. I did have to tune my mag lips a bit to get 100% reliability. Used the gun for Limited major with the 40 and 3 gun with the 9mm. I just sent the slide off to be milled for an optic so I can use it either in LO if that happens or Open minor if not. I am not a threat to the top 10 no matter what and I so love the feel and trigger of this gun.
  18. Good to go on 10 rounders. Any suggestions for reliable 25ish mags?? I have heard Geisseles work well but can't find them in stock anyplace.

    Sell me on it...

Quit looking in my gun room or I will get a restraining order!! LOL
  21. Not true. 38 Super folks had bounties on their heads back in the day when real men shot SC in Open!

    Sell me on it...

    Well said buddy!!

    Sell me on it...

The problem with that approach is that I won't know how I shoot it until after I buy it and shoot it long enough to know if I like it better than the CZs. A mag of someone else's ammo in their gun does not a fair comparison make. I was hoping to profit off of others' experiences between the two before dropping cash on one.
